GAMOR REINFORCES ITS BRAND IMAGE IN EUROPE AT THE EMO

The aims of the participation in the EMO event are:• First,to strengthen the German market, where last year'ssales of the tapping machines (pneumatic and hydraulic)went up to reach the best sales year in the history ofGamor, and to introduce the other two sections (clampingand sharpening/deburring solutions) of the company inthe German market.

• The second objective is to consolidate the brand image inEurope, not only in the tapping sector, but to advertiseourselves as manufacturers of jaws for lathes (where wehave been leaders in the Spanish and Portuguese marketfor more than 40 years). These products have not beenpromoted outside the Iberian Peninsula due to excessdemand that Gamor was facing with these markets onlyuntil recently.

Gamor has been preparing for 3 years to achieve theseobjectives, restructuring its production, sales and after-sales systems by means of an ambitious ERP: renewing itsproduction and administration system, on-line systems,

updating its corporate image and dividing its productionlines for marketing purposes into 4 business divisions:

Red division – hydraulic tappingmachines

The development of a proprietary invention patent, the subsequent improvement, and new usepatents have positioned a small company likeGamor as a world leader in tapping machines. The tapping range of Gamor machines inaddition to being the best in the world in termsof precision, capacity, power and speed is thewidest range to be found in tapping machinesworldwide. Currently, Gamor manufactures24 different models, for vertical andmultiposition tapping, with capacities of M2-M16, M3-M20, M4-M24 (Small series),M2-M30, M2-M36, M2-M39, M2-M45 (Mediumseries) and M3-M60, M3-M110 and M3-M130(Big series). In several cases the machines arecombined with special clamping accessories forsafe and simple mooring.

Blue division – pneumatic tappingmachines

Gamor developed its pneumatic tapping machines in2000 reacting on request of its distributors, who wantedsimpler and more economic tapping machines than thehydraulic units. Gamor's first objective was to producea machine that would improve and correct the faults ofthe dozens of brands that were on the market, theconstruction quality of which was very poor.

Aware that the development of a poor quality pneumatictapping machine would hinder the sales of the hydraulictapping machines, Gamor initiated this product line byadopting the pantograph system, currently used by all othertapping machine manufacturers, but correcting andreinforcing their weak points. New materials were alsointroduced to improve them, and the result was a range ofpneumatic tapping machines that are easy to use forcarrying out tapping operations in the most economical andquickest way. There are 10 different models with capacities of M2-M8, M3-M12, M3-M16, M4-M20 and M5-M24, giving a simple, robust, and reliable solution with the ergonomic pantograph tappingarms.

Yelow division – clamping systems

The clamping division is made up of 2 sub-divisions: theGamor offers the biggest and widest range of soft, hard and

special jaws adaptable to chucks of all brands used inEurope. More than 2.500 standard references and more than5000 special jaws have been designed and manufactured inaccordance to customer needs. Gamor's clients are fromsectors as demanding as wind power, valves, automotive, aeronautics, railway, ship building, etc. This division iscomplemented by the exclusive distribution for Spain of theextensive catalogue of clamping products of the prestigiousPolish company Bison-Bial, manufacturer of self-centeringand power chucks, vises, life centres, indexing devices, VDIholders, and other spindle tooling accessories and tools.

Green division – sharpening and sand-belt machines

The Gamor sharpening and deburring division consists oftable top sharpening and belt-deeding machines. Thecompany produces one of the simplest, easiest to handleand accurate bit sharpeners on the market. In contrast toother brands and models, its structure, design andergonomics result in a machine that will sharpen HSS andhard metal drill bits economically and accurately for manyyears. Currently, the company offers 3 models with sharpeningcapacities of Ø2-13, Ø3-20 and Ø12-26/30.In 2007, the prestigious Apollo end-mill sharpeners (Apollo13 and Apollo 22) from the Japanese firm Bic-Tool for 2 and4 fluted end-mills were included in the programme. Theresult was a small revolution in the European sharpeningworld due to their extraordinary simplicity in handling andincredible design inspired by the NASA Apollo missions. This division also manufactures the abrasive belt-deedingmachines —Gamor TG—2000. This was originallydeveloped for internal use at Gamor needed for the jawmanufacturing. It is a table top deburring machine locatedon each machine, occupying a very small space, used forremoving burrs from milling, turning and sawing operations.Machining companies that visited Gamor soon saw theusefulness of this simple machine for their production andafter manufacturing them on request for other companiesin the area, in 1985 it went on to become a mass productionproduct. The Gamor deburring machine is a clear example ofGamor's manufacturing philosophy, as it is a product ofsimple design, easy to use, very robust and essential onceused in production. /
