Through a collaboration with Southern State Community Col- lege’s theatre department and the college’s American Sign Lan- guage (ASL) program, students will provide interpretation for one performance of ‘Pygmalion’ on Central Campus in Hillsboro. Second-year ASL students Jessica Chamblin, Sally Miller and Adena Partin, along with pro- gram graduate Ayla Stirnaman, have volunteered to provide sign language interpretation for the 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, per- formance of the play. “Even at the risk of sounding sappy, I’m excited to show off all that I’ve learned from our amazing teacher, Kathey Carroll, and our wonderful adviser through this project, Becca Wise,” said Chamb- lin. “I guess everyone will see how we managed on Saturday!” Partin agreed: “This has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait until Saturday so we show off our hard work.” The sign language students have been balancing the de- mands of homework and jobs, while practicing alongside the cast throughout the rehearsal schedule. “This has been a great expe- rience for all of us. It’s been very hard, especially with all of our other school work,” said Stirnaman. “But on Saturday all our hard work will be shown, and it will be rewarding.” “This has been a great experi- ence,” said Miller. “It’s definitely been a challenge. True business!” For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www. sscctheatre.com.
