Polaris Networks provides a suite of LTENetwork Equipment Emulators that allowsend-to-end simulation of an LTE network in theab. Comprising the eNodeB, MME, S-GW,PDN-GW, HSS, PCRF, ePDG and ANDSF

Emulators, the LTE Emulators enable testing ina variety of network topologies. This allows theuser to utilize lab equipment effectively andreduce capital expenditure and ongoingsupport costs associated with the test lab.

LTE Base Station and Core NetworkEquipment Manufacturers can use the LTEEmulators for testing the scalability andperformance of the LTE nodes. The Emulatorsprovide a lower-cost solution and greatercontrol as compared to a real node. LTENetwork Operators can use the Emulators in apre-deployment test bed to validate the Key

Performance Indicators provided by equipmentvendors.

LTE/SAE Lab Setup with Real and Emulated Nodes

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTSPolaris LTE Emulators emulate a number of 3GPP LTE network elementsincluding the eNB, MME, SGW, PDN-GW, HSS, PCRF, ePDG & ANDSF.

The Emulators are implemented according to 3GPP Release 8 , Release 9and Release 10 standards and support all standard networks interfaces &communication protocols.

The Emulators are implemented as state machines and can replace realLTE nodes for the purpose of testing peer LTE nodes.

The Emulators include co-located nodes, which simplifies the networktopology for testing. The eNodeB Emulator can simulate hundreds ofthousands of UEs. All EPC nodes - MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, PCRF, ePDG& ANDSF - can be emulated on a single system.

Multiple nodes of the same type can be simulated using a single

Emulator system, which is extremely useful in testing features likeS1-Flex (eNodeB and MME Pools), Handovers with MME and SGWrelocation and Roaming and for doing scalability testing.

Simulation of UE-initiated signaling procedures, such as Attach, Detach,Service Request, Tracking Area Update, Bearer Resource Allocation andModification, and Multiple PDN Connection.

Simulation of Network initiated signaling procedures, such as UE Detach,Paging, S1-based and X2-based Handover, Dedicated Bearer Setup,Modification and Release and Trace.

The Emulators can be used for testing Emergency Sessions andCommercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS).

User-plane traffic generation, both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic.

The Emulators can be used to simulate failure scenarios.

The LTE Emulators provide a TCL scripting interface to configure theEmulators and obtain simulation results. This automation API allowsthe Emulators to be used in regression tests and long-duration stabilitytests.

The LTE Emulators Console provides a Windows or Linux GUI touse a cluster of Emulators from a single console. It provides an easy-tomethod to configure and control the functions of the Emulators and todisplay device and connection status and performance statistics.
