    CHARLES VI GATE

    Charles VI Gate was built during the Austrianrule. In those years Belgrade wasreconstructed according to the urbandevelopment plan of the Swiss Nikola Doksatde Mores. The new fortification was completedin 1736. The Gate was built according todesigns of Balthasar Neumann, who came toBelgrade with Charles VI as court architect.

    THE VICTOR MONUMENT

    On the cliff overlooking the river juncture isthe Victor Monument, symbol of the City, workof sculptor Ivan Metrovi; the monument isfenced off and rises to a height of 17.5 m.

    THE BELGRADE PORT

    This is a place where each year tens ofthousands of tourists come to Belgrade downthe Danube by ship. From the port, the

    church tower of the Orthodox Cathedral, builtin the first half of the 19thcentury, on theorder of Prince Milo, in Neoclassical andLate Baroque style, can bee seen.

    THE BELGRADE FAIR

    The Belgrade Fair includes 14 fair halls with100,000 square meters of exhibition andbusiness surface area, open air exhibition areaand accompanying catering facilities.

    ADA CIGANLIJA THE BELGRADE SEA

    Ada Ciganlija is long river island found 4 kmfrom the Sava and the Danube confluence.There are more than 50 sports grounds thereand it is the biggest sports center in Belgrade,tucked in greenery and covered with walkingand cycling paths with numerous cafe clubsand restaurants.

    SPORTS AND RECREATION CENTERMILAN GALE MUKATIROVI

    Open-air pools (recreation and water polo),indoor pools, mini golf, table tennis, sandvolleyball court, open-air bowling alley, sporthalls for basketball and indoor football, tenniscourts and concrete courts.

    DOROL

    The name of the neighborhood comes fromTurkish, literally meaning "four roads" orcolloquially "intersection (of four roads)","crossroads". Dorol was known as theDanube Town, where during the times ofOttoman rule, beside Turkish merchants andcraftsmen, lived Jewish, Greek, Armenian andSerbian merchants. Today, the streets of Dorol

    are known for its cafes and night clubs whereyou feel that everybody knows each other. Themost attractive is the Strahinjia Bana Street,where you can party and have a great time allnight long.

    BELGRADE FORTRESS

    Belgrade Fortress was built on the ridgeoverlooking the confluence of the Sava and theDanube. The fortress was erected gradually overa long period of time, from the 1 stto 18thcentury,as a military stronghold. Today, it is a specialmuseum that documents the history of Belgrade.

    NEBOJA TOWER

    The Fortress area alongside the river bankincludes the Lower Town, where in MedievalTimes most of the Belgrade urban zone wasfound. According to the description of thefamous Turkish travel writer, Evlija elebija, "itlooked more gigantic and famous than the restof the Fortress facilities".

    EUROVELOROUTESINBELGRADE

    Novi Beograd is the biggest municipality inSerbia. It is found at the confluence of theSava and the Danube. With numerous treelined boulevards, parks and lawns, this is thegreenest municipality.

    UE (CONFLUENCE OF THE SAVAAND THE DANUBE)

    Confluence of the Sava and the Danbue is apeace oasis where inhabitants of Belgradeenjoy leisure time, ride bicycles or have fun inone of the numerous party boats restaurants. Museum of Contemporary Art ishidden by a green belt, and the green areaextends into the Park of Friendship created in1961 on the occasion of the First Conference

    of Non-Aligned Countries, when alldelegations present at the conference visitedthis park and planted a tree; after this event itbecame the custom that all important guestswho visit Belgrade plant a tree. The last onesto do so were the Rolling Stones in 2007.

    VELIKO RATNO OSTRVO(THE GREAT WAR ISLAND)

    The island is found between the two historicalnucleuses: Belgrade Fortress and ZemunMedieval Fortification; it is a uniquehydrogeological phenomenon and the formerDanube wetlands remain. It is protected asthe reserve of migratory bird species.

    STUDENTSKI GRAD(STUDENTS CITY)

    This biggest student dormitory includes morepavilions for accommodation of nearly5,000 students.

    SAVA CENTAR

    This is the biggest congress & businesscenter in the Balkans, with a big congresshall, 17 smaller halls and business premises.

    EXPO CENTER

    Part of the Expomedia Group chain ofinternational Expocenters EXPO XXI. This is amultifunctional space with a capacity for over2,500 participants of business conferences,fairs and other events.

    SPORTS CENTER 11. APRIL

    Serves mainly for recreational sports.It includes a hall for small sports: (basketball,indoorfootball), table tennis hall, bowlingalley, shooting range facility, gym, indoor pool,open air pools (Olympic-size swimming pool,childrens pool, non swimmer pool) and openair tennis courts.

    HALA SPORTOVA (SPORTS HALL)

    It is found in the very center of New Belgrade.Consists of a big hall with 3,0005,000 seatsfor basketball, handball and volleyballmatches as well as 2 small halls for martialsports and a gym.

    BELGRADE ARENA

    The biggest universal 20,000-seat sports hallin Belgrade for multi-purpose events(basketball, handball, volleyball, tennis andathletics). According to need it can becomean ice hall or a hall for cultural events.

    EuroVelo,theEuropeancycleroutenetwork(EuroVeloRoutes)ismadeupof12routestotalingover60,000km.Belgradeisoneofthemostimportantnodepointsofthisnetworkduetothefactthat2EuropeanroutesmeetinBelgrade.

    EuroVeloRoute6istheRiversRoute.ItrunsfromNantesonthemouthoftheLoire,alongtherivereastwardthroughFrance.ItcontinuesontoLakeConstanceinSwitzerlandandthendowntheDanubethroughGermany,Austria,Slovakia,Hungary,Serbia,BulgariaandRomaniatotheUNESCOHeritagesiteoftheDanubeDelta,andendsinConstana,ontheBlackSea.The routecomestotheBelgradeareafromthe

    northwestdowntheDanubeandintheUpperZemunzoneisincludedintotheCitycycleroutesnetwork.DownstreamfromthePanevoBridge,theroutecontinuesalongsidetheDanube.

    EuroVeloRoute11istheEastEuropeanRoute.TherouterunsfromNorthCapeinNorway,thenthroughEstonia,Lithuania,Poland,Slovakia,Hungary,Serbia,MacedoniaandendsinthesouthofGreece.TheroutecomestoBelgradefromthenorth,alongtheZrenjaninroad,throughthePanevoBridgetotherightbankoftheDanube.HereRoutesEV6andEV11intertwine.RouteEV11runsdownstreamfromtheconfluenceoftheVelikaMoravaandtheDanube,andthenalongsidetheSouthMoravaandtheVardartothesouth.
