Guitar HeroEV has their own Guitar Hero aka Steve Cole! Recently I was invited to hear Steve play at Rockwells Tavern right outside of Enchanted Valley. Eloc-Haight is the name of their band. It consists of Steve Cole who plays acoustics and Brent Haight who plays the electric g u i t a r a n d h a r m o n i c a . They compose most of their m u s i c a n d s o m e t i m e s throw in a few s o n g s f r o m original artists. They played o n e o f m y f avor i t e s by Kris Kristofferson - Me and Bobby McGee! Most know Steve from Swim Team and he has lived in EV for many years. Brent is from the Chicago area. Steve picked up the guitar about 5 years ago after watching his son while he was learning to play. Once

he started strumming, he couldn't put it down. Singing was another challenge. His wife said he finally progressed from singing in the shower to singing at the open mike nights in Tomball at The Crossing. They have played at Tobins on Jones Road and Puffabellys in Old Town Spring. The Tavern is a great place to get together with a nice family atmosphere. While I was there, Steve had some of his greatest fans in attendance - his wife Stephanie, daughters, Erin and Allie and boyfriend, Josh, his sons, Steven and Michael along with EV residents, Debbie and Paul Tomich, Linda and Pat McQuinn, Janice and Roger Toler and Cheri Hester. If you're looking for a small band with really great sound to play at your next party, just give him a shout! If you're looking for a nice little place to grab a burger and maybe a few drinks and still be able to take your kids, Rockwell's is a great place as well. While we didn't eat there, I'm told their food is the best! Thanks for a great time Steve. Don't forget all us little people when you're standing on that stage accepting your music award!!!! We want ALL our names mentioned in your acceptance speech!

What do you think about people that walk their dogs in our neighborhood and don’t pick up their dog’s feces? Is there anything that can be done to keep dog owners from letting their dogs use other people’s front lawns,

which are private property and our medians as a toilet? Would it be acceptable if a toddler, who really had to go, made a deposit in someone’s front yard and the guardian of said child did not clean it up? I think not. I am a dog lover and own dogs myself. I enjoy getting outside of the backyard with my dogs and periodically strolling the neighborhood with them. When a dog’s got to go, he’s got to go – I understand this and carry small bags to clean up after my dogs should they make a deposit somewhere other than our backyard. I view this as part of the deal – responsible pet ownership and showing consideration to my neighbors. Many times, I see our residents walking their dogs down our street and throughout EV. It is not uncommon to see the dog make a deposit in a neighbor’s lawn and then left there. I often get up in the morning, go outside to get the paper and find that dog poop has been left in my own front yard, or that of a next door neighbor.

Dog owners who allow their dogs to poop indiscriminately in yards (other than their own) are rude, selfish, and inconsiderate and to some extent, gross. Seriously, can anyone be so ignorant or naïve as to think this is welcome surprise addition to the front lawns of our private properties? Additionally, there are environmental concerns behind allowing dog feces to sit on the ground and ultimately wind up in our bayous and other water systems. Stormwater carries pet waste directly into our waterways. Excess nitrogen from animal feces in those waterways depletes oxygen, causing harm to underwater wildlife. Harmful bacteria and organisms in our water can be transmitted to humans and to our pets. Worms in dog poop can live in soil for long periods of time, infecting other animals and our neighborhood kids who play in those same front lawns where the dog poop was left behind. According to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a single gram of dog poop can contain 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, which is known to cause all kinds of health problems for humans to include cramps, diarrhea, intestinal illnesses and serious kidney disorders, to name a few. All of this could be avoided by simply cleaning up after your pet. Some people seem to think it’s OK to allow their dogs on private

We Challenge What You Pay For Electricity! If SparkPowerBank isn’t your current electricity provider…chances are you're paying too much!

I’m Texas Energy Analyst Alan Lammey. Maybe you’ve heard me on the radio talking about the market forces that drive energy prices. I’m here to tell you that you’re not stuck paying those high prices to big electric companies anymore! Stop it.

Why pay more than you have to? Those days are over!

Why would you want to go with an electric provider that charges you more, when you can go towww.sparkpowerbank.com and pay far less for the same electricity?

of this could be avoided by simply cleaning up after your pet. Some people seem to think it’s OK to allow their dogs on private property and then allow them to use it as a public toilet. I would respectfully request that EV dog owners would evaluate their actions and be courteous and responsible neighbors and dog owners.-Concerned EV Resident and dog owner

Dear Editor, I'd like to respond to the resident that wrote the Letter to the Editor in April. Being a former Board Member, I do know why the Management Company is not addressing some of the issues you have. Basically, a representative from the Management Company drives through our neighborhood once or twice a month. They record every violation that is visible. They do not write a letter upon the first violation. When they drive through the next time, they again record every violation. If the resident has the same violation two months in a row, a letter is written. If the violation is not corrected the 3rd visit through our neighborhood, another letter is written. If upon the 4th visit the violation is still not corrected nor the management company contacted about correcting the said violation, then it is turned over to the Board to see if legal action is warranted. This is why you may see an infraction and the resident may or may not have been issued a letter. The deed restrictions are to protect every

Dear Editor - (Continued from Page 4) resident in this community. If you feel that there is a violation that is not being addressed, you have the right to contact the management company and make them aware of the violation. Upon their next visit, they will be on the lookout for this infraction. As for the parking situation, EV has always had vehicles parked on the streets. There is not a deed restriction that addresses this situation. At least not one that I know. Unfortunately, some of the driveways in the neighborhood were built way back when most people only had one car and they can not accommodate the amount of vehicles we have today. As for the commercial vehicles parked in EV, are you sure that they are not company vehicles that our residents get to drive for their work? If that is the case, they certainly would have every right to park them in our neighborhood as you have the right to park your vehicle. I really feel that our Postal Carrier is the one who should address whether he can deliver the mail or not. If there is not a mailbox present where it is supposed to be, then he should not deliver their mail. As for the weaving in and out because of parked cars, if the mailbox is not blocked, he is responsible to make sure the mail is delivered. For the resident that wrote the letter, I feel you do have the best interest of Ev at heart. Have you considered running for the Board or volunteering for a committee? My motto is....Don't just complain about a problem, Do something to fix it!!EV Resident

yard of the Month May’s yard of the month is awarded to 14626 Honeycomb Lane. The proud couple is Kelly and Melissa Johnson. The Johnson’s have lived in Enchanted Valley over a year, and have been busy remodeling the inside of their home, and redoing the landscaping. I was driving by a few months ago, and noticed the new flower beds that were in progress. I’ve watched over the recent weeks as the flowers have started blooming. The fruits of their labor are very pleasing to the eyes. The Johnson’s shared their thoughts and plans for the future. We can all watch this home, as their plans progress. Pride is showing well. What a great job they have done. Congratulations to the Johnson’s!!! Keep up the good work. I was happy to present this couple a gift certificate of $25.00 for Buds and Blossoms.Nancy McPeek
