Encompass SmartClient Broker Edition Installation and Login Instructions This document explains how to install Encompass Broker Edition, and then log into it.

Validate Your System Requirements To successfully install and run Encompass, please first review the system requirements below to ensure your system meets minimum requirements. Internet Speed and Bandwidth: A broadband Internet connection supporting a minimum of 1.5 Mbps up and downstream bandwidth, per concurrent bandwidth user, available for Encompass at point of ingress/egress. Workstation CPU: Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 @ 2.8GHz (minimum) - Intel Core i5 or i7 @ 3.3GHz (recommended) - or equivalent AMD For each client machine where Encompass is installed (i.e., the Encompass smart client) a minimum of 2 cores is recommended Workstation Memory: Windows 7 4GB (recommended) for 32-bit 6GB (minimum) for 64-bit 8GB recommended for 64-bit Windows 10 8GB (minimum) for 64-bit 12GB recommended for 64-bit Workstation Hard Drive Space: Minimum 700 MB or 25% free space, whichever is greater; 4GB is recommended Workstation Monitor Resolution: 1024 x 768 or greater Application Dependencies: Office 2013 (excluding "Home and Student" edition); Office 365 ProPlus (new install*); Office 365 E5 (new install*); Office 2016 (excluding "Home and Student"; “Home and Business” editions); Adobe Reader DC; Internet Explorer (11.x) * Only new installs of these Office 365 versions are supported. Upgrading to one of these Office 365 versions from an older version of Microsoft Office is not supported. In addition, Microsoft Office Online and/or online app versions of Office products (such as Word Online) are not supported. You must be using a licensed, local version of Office products installed on your computer when working with Encompass. SmartClient Installation Before a user can log in to Encompass on their workstation for the first time, the Encompass Broker Edition SmartClient components must be installed. If you are currently using an earlier version of Encompass, uninstall it before performing the installation steps below. If you receive an error that indicates you need to login as an administrator, please refer to this Microsoft help article.

To Install SmartClient: 1 Log into your Windows computer. 2 Click here to start the installation process. 3 On the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.

4 When prompted, click Install to confirm that you want to install the perquisite items required for the Encompass Broker Edition SmartClient.

The application files are downloaded, and then the Installation Manager is loaded.

5 If the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window displays, click Run.

The Windows Installer displays a Preparing to install message and then the Encompass Installation Manager is loaded.


The Encompass Installation Manager installs each required application and displays the progress of the installation.

If you receive this prompt, select I agree to the license terms and conditions, and then click Install.

If you receive the prompt below, the set up has failed. Please review the instructions provided on the prompt, and then click Close.

If you receive the prompt below, click Yes. If you receive a message to restart your computer, please restart.


6 When the SmartClient Core Installation wizard opens, click Next.

7 The Updating System window shows the progress of the installation.


When the installation of the SmartClient Core is complete, click Continue.

8 When the Encompass SmartClient Installation Wizard opens, click Next.


9 On the License Agreement window, select I accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

10 When the installation is complete, click Finish. The SmartClient Installation Wizard and the Installation Manager will automatically close.


Log into Encompass The first time you log in to Encompass Broker Edition, the Encompass - Launcher opens. For all following logins, the user will be taken directly to the Encompass Log In window where the user will enter the Encompass Instance ID, User ID, and Password provided by the system administrator. IMPORTANT: Before logging in for the first time, make sure you have located your SmartClient ID that is required for this procedure. To Log Into Encompass:

1 Double-click the Encompass icon on your desktop. 2 On the Encompass - Launcher, enter the Encompass SmartClient ID provided in your Welcome Letter. 3 The Auto Sign-On check box is selected by default.

• If the check box is selected, the Encompass - Launcher will not display for future logins. • If the check box is not selected, the Encompass - Launcher will display each time you log in.

4 Click Login.

Logging in with Restricted Access: 1. On the Encompass Log In screen, enter your Instance ID, and then click Next. The Instance ID is your Encompass SmartClient ID, which is provided by Ellie Mae. (It is not the Client ID

found under Help > About Encompass in Encompass). Example SmartClient ID: BE111XXXXX. After providing your Instance ID and successfully logging in once, this ID will be cached and automatically

provided each time the user logs in moving forward. 2. Click the Login via Single Sign On (SSO) button to go to your IdP log in screen.


3. On your IdP log in screen, enter the required credentials provided by your company, and then click Sign In.

Identity provider credentials must be supplied to the user by the Encompass administrator since your company is managing the relationship with the Identity provider.

4. After you have entered valid IdP credentials, you are logged into Encompass. Logging in with Full Access Users with Full Access can log in using their IdP credentials or their Encompass user name and password. 1. On the Encompass Log In screen, enter your Instance ID.

The Instance ID is your Encompass SmartClient ID, which is provided by your Encompass administrator. (It is not the Client ID found under Help > About Encompass in Encompass). Example SmartClient ID: BE111XXXXX.

After providing your Instance ID and successfully logging in once, this ID will be cached and automatically provided each time the user logs in moving forward.

2. To log in using your Encompass credentials, enter your Encompass user ID and password in the fields provided, and then click the Log In button.

OR 1. Click the Login via Single Sign On (SSO) button to go to your IdP log in screen. 2. On your IdP log in screen, enter the required credentials provided by your company, and then click Sign In.

NOTE: Identity provider credentials must be supplied by your IdP since you or your company is managing the relationship with the identity provider.


Updating Personal Settings and Managing Users After Logging In After successfully logging into Encompass, you arrive at the Home page. Click the Encompass menu at the top left of the page, and then click Settings.

On the Encompass Settings page, go to Personal Settings > My Profile. Update your profile by changing your password (current password is provided in your Welcome Letter), and then completing all applicable fields provided. You can also enter your preferred Email Signature in the field at the bottom of the screen. Click the Save icon on the top right of the screen to save your updated profile information, and then click the Close button to close the screen.


Since you are acting as the designated system administrator for Encompass, you will be helping set up other users. It is advised that you wait to perform your organizational set up until you have completed the Encompass Broker Implementation Essentials workshop. However, you can follow these steps to add users to Encompass. After you add them to Encompass, you can then enable these users to create Customer Support cases and utilize the Chat service in the Resource Center.

To Add a User in Encompass:

1. On the menu bar, click Encompass, and then click Settings. 2. On the left panel, click Company/User Setup, and then click Organizations/Users. 3. In the upper panel, click to select an organization folder to which to add the user. You may need to expand

the hierarchy to locate the folder.


4. In the lower panel, click the New icon. When you add a user to an organization folder, keep in mind that access to other users' loan files

depends on the position of the user in the hierarchy. 5. On the left panel, type a User ID, and then type and re-type the user's password. Note that you can establish your user IDs with any type of naming convention you prefer. Typically,

administrators use a first name initial plus last name (for example, John Smith’s user ID would be jsmith).

The password must meet the requirements established in the Settings Manager in the Admin Tools. o To open the Admin Tools, on your Windows task bar, click the Start menu or Start icon,

navigate to the Ellie Mae Encompass program folder, and then click Admin Tools. 6. Select the Force user to change password check box to force the user to change the password based on

the requirements in the Encompass Admin Tools > Settings Manager. 7. Type the required user information (first name, last name, and email address). You can add additional user

information as needed. If this user is loan officer, enter the user's officer's first name, middle name, last name, and suffix for

compliance with CFPB regulations. 8. Click the New icon in the Personas section to assign one or more personas to the user. The persona

controls the features and tasks available to the user. In the Persona Selection window, select personas to assign to the user and then click OK. Click View/Edit Rights to view the specific persona settings for the user, based on the combined rights

of the assigned personas. If a user is assigned multiple personas, the greater rights are given to the user. You can also edit the rights granted by the assigned personas to meet the user's specific requirements.

9. When finished, click Save. 10. Repeat these steps to add additional users to Encompass.


To Add Yourself (and Other Users) as a Named Contact: Next, add yourself as a named contact by clicking the Manage My Users link in the Support tile of the Resource Center Home page.


On the Manage My Users page, click Add.


Here you will enter the Encompass user ID for the named contact who will then be able to create Support cases and utilize the Chat service. In the Encompass UserID field, type your Encompass user ID, and then click the Check User ID button. (If you are designating a different user as a named contact, then type their Encompass user ID here.) Note: The user assigned with this user ID must log into Encompass Broker Edition at least once for the system to locate and validate the user ID here. If the system cannot validate the user ID, you will not be able to add the user here. Next, you can elect to receive Status Center alerts from Ellie Mae Customer Support by selecting the Subscribe option. (If you are setting up a different user, you can elect for that user to receive Status Center alerts here.) When finished, click Save.


How to Enroll in Encompass Broker Implementation Essentials [Discount Code Provided within Instructions Below] Please note: You must have successfully installed Encompass Broker Edition and logged in to Encompass before you can enroll and participate in the Encompass Broker Implementation Essentials training. Once you have successfully logged in to Encompass and updated your personal settings, you can visit the Resource Center from the Encompass Home Page by clicking the Go to the Resource Center link.


Click the Start Learning Now link in the Education tile on the Resource Center Home Page.


On the Education landing page, click Catalog located on the top navigation bar.

In the Class Catalog Search box, type Encompass Broker Implementation Essentials, and then click the Search icon (magnifying glass).


Review the Class Schedule for an open session that works best for you, and then click Purchase.


Review the session details and click Add to Cart.

After clicking Add to Cart, you will see that the session you are purchasing was successfully added to your cart.


Next, go to the top right of the page, and click the shopping cart icon.

On the My Shopping Cart Page:

1. Enter the following in the Discount Code box: BROKERIMP100 (exactly as written) 2. Click Apply Discount.

This will ensure that you are not charged the standard enrollment fee of $1,000.

1. Click Go to Checkout. 2. Enter your address and accept the terms and conditions. 3. Complete your purchase 4. You will receive an email receipt of your purchase. 5. You can find your class in the EllieMae Academy under “My Learning”.


On the Checkout Page:

1. Enter your information then select review terms and conditions.


On the terms and condition page: 1. Click I Agree.

Once you have completed your transaction, the class will be displayed in the My Recent Enrollments section.


How to Submit a Web Support Ticket for Installation or Log in Issues 1. First, log in to the Resource Center: https://resourcecenter.elliemae.com/resourcecenter/ 2. Type the Client ID provided in your Welcome Letter (numbers only – do not enter any preceding letters). 3. Type admin in the User ID field. 4. Type the password provided in your Welcome Letter in the Password field. 5. Click the Log In button.

6. On the Resource Center Home Page, in the Support tile, click Open Web Case.

7. On the Case Management landing page, verify and if needed update your email and phone number, then

select the Encompass Administration topic area.


8. Scroll down the page until you see these fields shown below, and provide the following information:

Subject [Type one of the following phrases] New Broker – Cannot Install Encompass OR New Broker – Trouble Logging in to Encompass

Description – Type your Encompass ID (provided in your Welcome Letter), your full name, your phone

number, and your e-mail address.

A Customer Support representative will contact you by phone as soon as possible.
