.ENCOURAGEMENT
This Sunday’s Gospel is our final selection from Mark for
this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of
Jesus’ teaching in Jerusalem immediately
preceding the account of his arrest and pas-
sion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to
sustain them through his passion and death
and any persecution or suffering that they
would encounter after his resurrection.
The words from the book of Daniel also
provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel’s
time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as
well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Fol-
lowers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful
hope, knowing that Christ’s love will lead us along the way of

El Evangelio de este domingo es nuestra selección final de
Marcos para este año litúrgico. Pertenece a las
últimas enseñanzas de Jesús en Jerusalén y se
encuentra inmediatamente antes del relato de su
arresto y pasión. En este, Jesús da a sus discípu-
los esperanza para sostenerlos en su pasión y
muerte y en cualquier persecución o sufrimiento
que enfrenten después de su resurrección. Las
palabras del libro de Daniel también les brindan
esperanza y aliento a los contemporáneos de Daniel. El aliento
de estas lecturas también nos sirve a nosotros, ya que ninguno
de nosotros puede evitar transitar tiempos difíciles en su vida.
Los seguidores de Jesús podrán soportar el sufrimiento con
esperanza porque saben que el amor de Cristo nos guiará para
poder ser buenos discípulos y nos dará la vida eterna junto a

Christmas Outreach Project The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary is in the pro-
cess of preparing our Christmas Outreach Project for the
nursing facilities in Lakeport and Freedom House. If you
would like to donate to our project, following is a list of
items that would help bring the Christmas Spirit to the residents: New small
stuffed animals, Solar figures for the window sill, fleece throws, art sup-
plies, colored pencils, colored markers, adult color books , magna doodle,
children's short story books, non-skid socks. Please deliver your donations
to St. Mary's or St. Peter's Church by December 2. There will be tubs in the
