Follow the slideshow to see how, for eachpupil, the Scorer/Profiler calculates
chronological age, standardised score andreading age, and generates a Pupil Profile
including a diagnostic analysis.
See how it also generates a comprehensiverange of group performance analyses,
calculating group summary statistics, includingminimum, maximum and mean raw scores
and standardised scores, standard deviation,and comparisons with national norms.

The Settings functionallows you to choosewhere you want all yourdata stored - this can beyour local drive or on thenetwork (probably givingyou automatic backup).

through an easy-start Wizard orvia the main application.

The Wizard
The Wizard takes you through the data-entryprocess step by step. It guides you through
setting up a Cohort (giving each group ofpupils a unique identifier - for example, theyear the group entered your school), addingpupils to the Cohort and then entering their
test results.

The toolbar at the top of the screen,used with the ‘tree’, on the left of the screen,
gives you access to all the functionality of the program.
From here you can add pupils, cohorts andclasses, print reports, look at the result list
and much more.
The Main ApplicationEnd
As you add pupils to the database, theyare listed on the tree on the left of thescreen. There is a node for each School(if more than one school name has beenentered - useful for peripatetic staff) and,below that, separate nodes for Cohortand Pupil.
The Cohort node lists all cohorts in theschool, split by class. The Pupil nodelists all the pupils in the schoolalphabetically.

Entering Pupil Details
All the pupil details needed to run the Scorer/Profiler and to produce reports are added via this screen.
If you enter a school name, this will be included on all the reports. If the data are already stored in an electronic
format, they can be imported.

Entering Test Results
Test results can be entered via the main application - by selecting the appropriate Cohort on the ‘tree’ and then by clicking Manage Cohort (for groups) or Add Test
Data (for individual pupils) on the toolbar - or via the Wizard.
In either case, the results are added using a screen similar to the one on the next slide.

Entering Test Results - cont.All you need to do is to enter the test date (today’s
date is set as the default), change the class if necessary, and then type in the ERT
subtest scores. Or you can import them.
The program will then calculate the standardised score, percentile and reading age, and plot a graph showing each pupil’s performance, as shown on the
next slide.

Pupil ProfileYou can view/print a PupilProfile, giving a completesummary of the pupil’stest results. Firsthighlight the pupil in the‘tree’, select the requiredtest date and then clickPrint on the toolbar.
The Pupil Profiles for awhole cohort can beprinted from the ManageCohort button on thetoolbar.

Group PerformanceTo look at group performance, selectthe Cohort or Class whose data youwish to analyse from the ‘tree’ asshown on the left. Then select thetest date(s) you wish to include in theanalysis.
You will then see a screen like theone on the next slide. It showssummary statistics for the group - forall pupils, and split by gender - withgraphs of the raw score distributionsand the standardised scorescompared to the national distribution.

Group Performance - cont.You can also view the performance graphs for just boys, just girls, or boys and girls,
where the raw and standardised scoredistributions are shown.
Or you can look at subtest performance - just click on the radio button next to thesubtests in which you are interested.
All these graphs can be printed, togetherwith the summary statistics shown above
the graphs.

Click on the Result List buttonon the toolbar to access theList facility and options. Youwill first see this form.
If you already have a cohorthighlighted, its details will be inthe cohort box. To changethis, simply select anothercohort from the drop-down list.
Select the test date(s) youwant to be included andchoose how you want the datalisted, then click on View.
Result List

The Concern? column shows pupils whose reading age isa year or more behind their chronological age.

Exporting Data
The data contained in any ofthe Result Lists can beexported to a .csv file.
This file can then be opened by most spreadsheet
packages. This will allow youto perform further analysis on
your data if you so wish.
