An Evening with Liane CarrollLiane Carroll has been a pillar of the British jazz and soul scene for over thirty-five years, so it’s incredibly exciting to have her here in St Endellion. Top jazz vocalist and a hugely talented pianist, Liane won Best British Jazz Vocalist in 2016 and Best New CD 2015 at the British Jazz Awards. She entertains with diverse material including jazz greats, much-loved songs by a range of singer-songwriters, and her own material, all delivered in her haunting, slightly husky voice, with “heart stopping emotion and soul bearing power.” (Peter Quinn, Jazzwise). Saturday 4 November, 7.30pm, St Endellion ChurchGalini Piano Trio

The Galini Piano Trio ( Andrew Watkinson - violin, Shuna Wilson - cello and Caroline Palmer – piano) will be playing Haydn’s Piano trio in A major, Shostakovich’s 2nd piano trio in E minor, and Schubert’s piano trio in B flat in what promises to be a very special concert by these world-class players. The Galini Piano trio was formed 12 years ago and has since played all over the UK and abroad. Andrew has been the first violin of the Endellion Quartet for 37 years. Shuna was the cellist of the Kandinsky Quartet for several years and Caroline is Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. All three have made extensive recordings in collaboration with many famous artists.

Friday 24 November, 7.30pm, St Endellion ChurchFlats and SharpsBlurring the lines between bluegrass, folk, country & pop, Flats and Sharps perform their own highly original songs as well as renditions of Bluegrass classics. These five incredible young musicians have honed their skills in 350 live performances over five years, charming and wowing audiences along the way. They have come a long way from their humble beginnings busking in Penzance as 17 year-olds!The band has won fans at scores of festivals including Isle of Wight, Maverick, Country 2 Country, Proms Hyde Park and Ireland’s Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival where they headlined in 2015. They have toured in Europe, Australia and the USA.

Book Festival Exhibition: FINDINGS 5-8 OCTOBER: St Endellion Hall

This exhibition brings together prints and paintings by Dorothy Hanna, Sara Owen, Mark van Praagh, Ley Roberts, Masako Whitehouse and jewellery by Katy Luxton, all of whom embrace and encourage the lucky discoveries or ‘accidents’ that occur in the process of making. All works on display are for sale.

Saturday 2 December, 10am-3pm, St Endellion ChurchThe paintings of Stanley Spencer led by Revd Canon Professor Mark D ChapmanAn authority on the paintings of Stanley Spencer, Professor Chapman will focus on Spencer’s art and also draw out some theology on the resurrection of the body and the end times. The day will be divided into three sessions: Imagining the resurrection, Raising the dead, The end of time.Revd Canon Mark D Chapman is Professor of the History of Modern Theology, University of Oxford, Vice-Principal, Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and Canon Theologian of Truro.Tickets £10. Saturday 28 October, 10am-3pm, St Minver ChurchThe Image of the Unicorn in Christian Spirituality Led by Revd Prebendary Professor Paul S. FiddesVarious meanings of the unicorn in the Christian spirituality of Mediaeval and Renaissance times will be explored in the morning session. In the afternoon, young people from the North Cornwall Cluster will explore the popularity of the image of the unicorn in today’s youth culture, drawing on films, books, television and the internet.

Revd. Prebendary Paul S. Fiddes is Professor of Systematic Theology, the University of Oxford and a Prebendary of St Endellion. Tickets £10. Children free. Tea and coffee provided. Bring a picnic lunch.

Saturday 16 September, 10am-3pm, Stone Barn‘Writing into Radiance’ led by Jenny AlexanderLed by an experienced writer and workshop teacher, this reflective day will be a combination of two short writing workshops, followed by periods of silent contemplation, when you may choose to continue your writing. North Cornwall Book Festival Book Club2nd Wednesday of the month, 7-9pm, Stone Barn

The book club was formed so that readers could come together to discover more about the work of the authors appearing at this year’s festival, including Maggie O’Farrell, Michael Morpurgo, Sarah Winman and others. Due to its success the club will continue throughout the year. Come along and meet people who share your interest. £2 per session. Wine and nibbles available.
