Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days

before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that

these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.

Euphrates River to Be Dried Up In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates Riverwill be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle of Armageddon

according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesus will return and fight

on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in His one thousand-year reign of

peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Starcarried the headline Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month. The

article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stopped

for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey

has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.

In Revelation 9:15-16,

the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill the third part of men.

Never in the history of the world until our present generation has there been a power in earth that could field 200

million soldiers. However, the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could filed an army of

200 million. The CIA World Factbook reported that as of the end of 1999, China had 198 million men of military

age, and this number is growing by 10 million per year.

In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that a

world dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without which they

will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly every human

being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years, we have seen

this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependent on an income tax

return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash.

All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a

worldwide numbering system be administered.

Revelation 13:7 andDaniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term New World Order has become a prevalent phrase in the

worlds political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. In the

September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, Iraq is the first test for the New World

Order. He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations troops are continually

referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community of nations that will rule

the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this

government is at hand.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

The Anchor Man

In a relay race, the anchor man is the

one who runs the last leg of the race.

He gets the baton last. If his team is

behind, they depend on him to

make up the difference. Hes the

strongest, fastest and, most importantly,

the one with the most heart. He keeps giv-ing when theres no more to give. Hes the

anchor man.

The baton of the gospel has been handed

from one generation of the church to the

other. Now it has come down to usthe

endtime generation. Perhaps we dont feel

worthy to be entrusted by our captain Jesus

Christ with this crucial position, but pick

us He did. So we are running.

The finish line looms just ahead. We

have no time for protestations of unworthi-

ness or lack of qualifications. We must just

run! We didnt ask to be the anchor man ofthe church, but He who knows best placed

us here. Yes, it would be nice if the Apostle

Paul were here, but hes not. The baton in

the hands of Peter would feel so good right

now, but his appointment from the Chief

Cornerstone was to get us started right.

Somehow I have to believe that He who

knows all, knew what He was doing when

He ordained for you and me to have the

baton in our hands at the setting of the sun.

So theres no time for second-guessing

our Master. Just run! Forget your lack of

ability. Just teach another Bible study!

Dont stumble over your lack of education.

Just go pass out another tract! Whether

you understand it or not, you are Gods

chosen anchor man. We dont really have

time to think about it now, but it was usthat God foreknew when He said of the

endtime church, the people that do

know their God shall be strong, and do

exploits. And they that understand among

the people shall instruct many (Daniel

11:32-33).

Six billion people! Thats our assign-

ment to reach six billion people. Make

no mistake about it. When Jesus said in

Matthew 24:14, And this gospel of the

kingdom shall be preached in all the world

for a witness unto all nations; and then

shall the end come, He had this time inmind.

So how do we cope? What do we do?

Run a little faster! Legs keep moving!

Baptize someone else. Witness to that lady

across the aisle on the plane! We can do it!

I know we can do it! For the same one who

gave us this assignment, taught us that we

can do all things through Christ that

strengthens us. Lets give it all weve got!

Just a few more yards to go and then the

finish line!

Pakistan. It is an Islamic country. As you know Islam is a great

force in the world, and it is closely connected with the Holy City

and the temple. Do they have any role to play in the Battle of

Armageddon? As is evident, the strongest reaction is seen in

Islamic countries if any thing happens in there. I would like to

know it from the prophetic point of view.

Pakistan is a great country. It shares the borders with China,

Afghanistan, Iran and other important areas. It would be nice if

you and your team could visit here and see this yourself.

Reply: As far as I know, Pakistan is not specifically mentioned in the

prophecies of the Bible. However, I think it is very likely that Pakistan

could be drawn into the coming China War. I know that you are very

aware of the historic and present tensions between India and Pakistan.

Through the years, there has also been conflict between China and

India. Since we know that one-third of mankind (two billion) will bekilled in the China War, we know that more than Chinese will die.

Since India and Pakistan are neighbors to China, I think it is proba-

ble that they will become embroiled in this prophesied conflict.

Also, thanks for your invitation to Pakistan. We would love to visit

some time.

Are You Consistent?I heard you advise a caller that he should trust in God,

rather than resort to the use of firearms when considering the

physical protection of his family. To support your position, you

recalled how Peter was instructed to put away his sword, after

severing the ear of one of those who had come for Jesus in the

garden.

While I cannot make the connection between this event and

the callers question, I can respect your position IF you are con-

sistent in its application. I would assume that you do not have

your children vaccinated against disease. I would assume, also,

that you do not require their use of seat belts while in a motor

vehicle. And, of course, you do not waste money on any kind of

accident insurance. In every case where the less spiritual head of

the family might act to protect those he loves, you would, of

course, trust in God.

Surely, you must display this consistency, for, if not, you

would be a hypocrite, taking a position which you feel would

minimize the number of listeners offended and thus maximize

the contributions received. No, that must not describe you.

Reply: The issue you raise is not an easy one. However, we should

attempt to follow the Bibles teachings in every question of life. In Luke

3:14, John the Baptist instructed his disciples to Do violence to noman. We also know that one of the Ten Commandments is Thou shalt

not kill.

Applying the same principle, the Bible does not say, Thou shalt not

wear a seat belt. And it does not say, Thou shalt not vaccinate your

children.

I would suggest to you that trusting God with our lives is not such a

bad idea.

Will Arafat set up shop in Jerusalem?Only one nation has ever been challenged as to its choice of

prestige and persuasion trying to broker a deal, but there is no

peace. I believe Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will use force to

conquer Israel and put his headquarters there according to

Zechariah 14:2 and Revelation 12:14-16. Please explain this to

me clearly.

Reply: There is evidence in scripture that the Antichrist will occupy

the Temple Mount. We dont know whether this will be a one-day cere-

mony or his setting up of permanent residence. II Thessalonians 2:3-4

speaks of the time when the man of sin will sit in the temple of God

claiming to be God. Daniel 11:45 states that the Antichrist will

plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy

mountain.

To say that Yasser Arafat will fulfill these scriptures is to believe that

he will be the Antichrist. Though I would have to rank him among the

top three candidates, there appears to be reasons why he will probably

not be the Antichrist. (See our Endtime video, Is the Antichrist Among

Us?)

Will He Confirm Abrahams Covenant?Please comment on what you think about the covenant

mentioned in Daniel 9:27 as being the same covenant that God

first made with His people in Genesis 17:19-20. Couldnt the

first part, and he shall confirm the covenant with many, mean

that many other world leaders will, along with the Antichrist,

confirm what God has already spoken to His people concerning

the land in the Bible?

Reply: There are many covenants referred to in the Bible. The one to

which you refer is one of the outstanding ones. Another covenant worthy

of notice is the one where God vowed to place His name in Jerusalem (I

Kings 11:36). In 1993, the nation of Israel adopted a covenant called

the Jerusalem Covenant. The beautiful six-foot scroll is enshrined in a

glass case on the main floor of the Israeli Knesset. This Jerusalem

Covenant declares that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the nation of

Israel.

The prophecy in Daniel 9:27 teaches that animal sacrifices will be

in progress and then stopped during the first three and one-half years of

the seven-year period called Daniels seventieth week. Jews believe thattheir temple must be rebuilt before sacrifices are resumed. Consequently,

we know the Third Temple will be standing during this first three and

one-half year period.

Since the present conflict between Palestinians and Israelis has

Jerusalem at its center, I think it is very likely that the Jerusalem

Covenant could be the covenant spoken of in Daniel 9:27. I think your

idea of the Antichrist confirming the covenant with other world leaders

(and with Israel) is accurate.

Into the Final SevenIm a little confused about the tribulation thing. If I under-

stand some of what you are saying, it sounds like you are saying

that the seven years have already begun. Is this correct? If so,

please help me understand when it started and how far along we

are in this tribulation of seven years. Is it a literal seven years or

does it mean something else?

Reply: We did not mean to leave the impression that we have enteredthe prophesied final seven years. Furthermore, the tribulation will not

last seven years. Jesus taught in Matthew 24:15-21 that the Great

Tribulation begins at the time of the Abomination of Desolation, which

occurs halfway through the final seven years. This indicates clearly that

the Great Tribulation lasts for three and one-half years.

How About Israel & United States vs. World?We were watching your Questions & Answers video in The

Sequence of Endtime Events series. Bro. Baxter was saying that

the attitude of the world would be against Israel, especially after

two billion people had been killed and Israel continued to be

rebellious against the leadership of the UN. The thoughtoccurred to me: Why would they have to bring a large world

force against a country as small as Israel? It appears to me that

somebody with a lot of power must be in the picture with her.

Sure hope it is the U.S. What do you think?

Reply: We know that Revelation 12:14 speaks of the persecution of

Israel and the possible U.S. intervention on her behalf. (The woman is

Israel and the United States is the eagle.) This was written 2,000 years

ago and seems to have its fulfillment in the special relationship between

Israel and the U.S. today. If this is true, then U.S. intervention on the

part of Israel at Armageddon cannot be totally ruled out. However, this

is not specifically prophesied in scripture. It should be noted, however,

that the intervention of Jesus Christ on behalf of Israel is specifically

mentioned in Zechariah 14:1-4. Somehow, whether the United States is

there or not, I believe Jesus will be well able to handle the job!

Nations on March

27, 2000, our UN

tour guide stressed

from the outset, The United Nations is

not a world government.

When the time came for our special

briefing, UN official Bill Hass again stat-

ed, The United Nations is not a world

government. Its nothing like that.

It was obvious to me that these

employees of the UN had been carefully

trained to specifically emphasize that the

United Nations is not a world govern-

ment. But merely declaring that some-thing is not true, does not necessarily

make it not true. So the question remains:

Is the UN a world government?

Why does it matter?Before we attempt to determine if the

United Nations is, in fact, a world gov-

ernment in the making, we need to

understanding why it even matters.

The most urgent reason for needing to

know is that the Bible prophesies the

emergence of a system of world govern-

ment on earth for the immediate future.

If the UN is a structure for global gover-

nance, then it is obviously the prophesiedworld government, especially since no

other structure for world government

presently exists on earth.

Speaking of the world government and

the powerful political leader that will rule

it, Revelation 13:7 says, And it was

given unto him to make war with the

saints, and to overcome them: and power

was given him over all kindreds, and

tongues, and nations. Notice that this

coming world government will have

power over all nations. Furthermore, the

leader of this world government, a man

the Bible calls the Antichrist, will make

war against true Christians that will be on

earth at the time.

The same prophecy is given in Daniel

7:21-23, I beheld, and the same horn

made war with the saints, and prevailed

against themThus he said, The fourth

beast shall be the fourth kingdom uponearth, which shall be diverse from all

kingdoms, and shall devour the whole

earth, and shall tread it down, and break

it in pieces.

Both of these prophecies, though writ-

ten seven hundred

years apart, foretell

a government that

will rule over all the

earth. They also

state that the ruler

of the prophesied

world governmentwill launch a time

of terrible religious

persecution.

These scriptures

clearly indicate that

the prophesied

world government

will become tyran-

nical and will sup-

port the satanically

inspired reign of

the Antichrist.

Are globalplanners evil?

When the United Nations was

launched in 1945, the horrible carnage of

World War II and its 52 million dead was

fresh in everyones mind. World leaders

believed that the next war might destroy

all of mankind. Many of them saw nation-

alism as the root cause of war and sincere-

ly felt that a system of global government

had to be implemented. The United

Nations was designed to be that system ofglobal governance.

However, lets make one thing clear.

The prime movers at the founding of the

United Nations understood full-well that

they were launching an organization

designed to be a global government. A

world economic system was created

including the International Monetary

Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. A

World Court was provided for and struc-

tures for military action were set up.

The thinking of some of the globalists

at the time is illustrated by a statement

made by Assistant U.S. Secretary of State

William Benton before the United

Nations Educational, Scientific and

Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in

1946.

As long as a child breathes the poi-

soned air of nationalism, education in

world-mindedness can produce only pre-carious results. As we have pointed out, it

is frequently the family that infects the

child with extreme nationalism. The

schools should thereforecombat family

attitudes that favor jingoism (or as it is

definednationalism). We shall see

presently recognized in nationalism the

major obstacle to the development of

world-mindedness. We are at the begin-

ning of a long process of breaking down

the walls of national sovereignty.

UNESCO must be the pioneer.

Not all political leaders of the time

shared Assistant U.S. Secretary of State

Bentons enthusiasm for world govern-ment. Leaders in the United States insist-

ed on retaining veto power over the deci-

sions of the UN Security Council in order

to preserve U.S. sovereignty. Many

believed that this move condemned the

UN to impotence! They contended that

nothing short of an enforceable world

government would be able to banish the

scourge of war from the earth.

Fifty-six years laterThe report card of the United Nations

since its birth has been somewhat

mediocre. On the positive side, there has

not been another world war and mankind

has not been obliterated from the face of

the earth. On the other hand, many mil-

lions have died in armed conflict during

the past 56 years. Weapons of mass

destruction, more deadly than ever,

threaten the future of the world. As weenter the new millennium, there is

enough weaponry poised at the ready to

destroy all human, plant and animal life

off the face of the earth many times over.

Mankind is as close to self-annihilation as

it has ever been.

However, since the

birth of the UN,

those who believe

that world gover-

nance is the answer

to peace on earth

have not been idle.They have been dili-

gently weaving a web

of international law,

which they believe

can lead the world

into a genuine new

world order. Since

the fall of the Berlin

Wall and the end of

the Cold War, most

conflicts have been

confronted by the

UN in the nameof the World

Community. Most of

the lesser nations of the world have

learned that the international forces of the

United Nations cannot be ignored. The

blue-helmeted soldiers of the UN have

developed teeth. The leaders of the 184

nations that do not enjoy veto power on

the UN Security Council have recently

learned that, if they do not bow the knee

to the edicts of the emerging global gov-

ernment, they face the very real danger ofbeing placed on trial before the World

Court.

Yet, because of the continued existence

of the veto power and weapons of mass

destruction, the major powers still teeter

on the precipice of igniting a world-

engulfing nuclear holocaust.

So what are the globalistsplanning?

After the fall of the Berlin Wall and

with the approaching of the fiftieth

anniversary of the birth of the UN, it was

felt that the time was right to conduct a

reappraisal of the structures of the UN.

This was set in motion through the ini-

tiative of Willy Brandt, former Prime

Minister of Germany and president of the

Socialist International. A group of 26

people were assembled to form the

Commission on Global Governance. Theyworked under the leadership of Ingvar

Carlsson of Stockholm and Shridath

Ramphal of London. Their job was to

evaluate the path that global governance

should take as the world entered into the

21st Century.

Their report was released to the World

Community in November 1994 under

the title Our Global Neighborhood. Since

that time, Our Global Neighborhood has

served as the road map of the globalists

and the United Nations.

So that we can know what is beingplanned by the UN for our future, lets

review some of the proposals made by the

Commission on Global Governance.

A global belief systemOur Global Neighborhood says it this

way: The quality of global governance

will be determined by several factors.

High among them is the broad accept-

ance of a global civic ethic to guide action

within the global neighborhood

The document goes on to explain,

People have to see with new eyes andunderstand with new minds before they

can truly turn to new ways of living. That

is why global values must be the corner-

stone of global governance.

Over the past ten years, many people

and organizations have attempted to for-

mulate a belief system that could serve as

the global ethic for the emerging system

of global governance.

The Parliament of the Worlds

Religions, which met in Chicago in

1993, offered its version of a global ethicto the world.

Hans Kng, the eminent Roman

Catholic theologian, has written a book

entitled,A Global Ethic for a Global Politic

and Global Economic.

When the religious leaders and the

political leaders of the world gathered at

the UN for the Millennium Summit

(August 28-September 8, 2000), they

adopted a mission statement for the

world called the Millennium Declaration.

With this adoption of the Millennium

Declaration, the dream of a global ethic

for the world became a reality.

A world courtThe Commission on Global Gover-

nance was adamant concerning the need

for compulsory jurisdiction of the World

Court. They stated their case as follows:

When the founders of the United

Nations drew up the Charter, the rule of

law world-wide loomed as one of its cen-

tral components. They established the

International Court of Justice at TheHaguecommonly known as the World

Courtas the cathedral of law in the

global system. But states were free to take

it or leave it, in whole or in partThe

rule of law was asserted and, at the same

time, undermined; from the outset the

World Court was marginalized.

In an ideal world, acceptance of the

compulsory jurisdiction of the World

Court would be a prerequisite for UN

membership. Those who wish to belong

to the community of nations should bewilling to abide by its rules and demon-

strate their willingness by accepting the

competence of its highest legal body.

A number of states, however, are will-

ing to use the World Court only when it

suits their short-term interests. This last

situation is wholly unsatisfactory.

This dream of a world court system

with compulsory jurisdiction is now very

close to realization. The International

Criminal Court Statute of Rome was

adopted on July 17, 1998. It establishes a

permanent world court with jurisdiction

over every person on earth whether his

nation ratifies the Criminal Court Statute

or not.

The International Criminal Court

(ICC) will begin to function once sixty

parliaments ratify the statute. That is

expected to be achieved some time in

2002.

Abolish the vetoWhen the United Nations was formed

in 1945, the total surrender of nationalsovereignty to a world government was

just not acceptableespecially to the

United States. The powerful opposition

to the surrendering of U.S. sovereignty

was mollified by the granting of veto

power to the five victor nations of World

War II. The possession of the veto over

decisions of the UN Security Council

insured that the big five could not be

forced into compliance to edicts of the

world government system against their

will.Critics of the veto contend that it is the

number one reason why the UN has been

unable to fulfill its mandate of freeing the

earth from the scourge of war.

The Commission on Global Gover-

nance agrees with this assessment as the

following statements from Our Global

Neighborhood illustrate:

events fifty years ago is unacceptable; so is

the veto.

The second stage (of UN reform)

should be a full review of the membership

of the Councilaround 2005, when the

veto can be phased out

Ladies and gentlemen, once the veto

power is removed, we are in world gov-

ernment! Need I remind you that 184 ofthe 189 UN member nations have no veto

power right now? These nations have

been under the control of world govern-

ment for some time. Just ask Saddam

Hussein. Ask Slobodan Milosevic, former

president of Yugoslavia, who, even now, is

desperately seeking to avoid trial before

the World Court.

A global taxFor some time,

the globalists have

the UN hostage by

The Commission

on Global Gover-

nance came down hard on the side of

global taxation. Following are some of the

ideas proposed in Our Global

Neighborhood.

A start must be made in establishing

schemes of global financing of global pur-poses, including charges for the use of

global resources such as flight lanes, sea

lanes, and ocean fishing areas and the col-

lection of global revenues agreed globally

and implemented by treaty. An interna-

tional tax on foreign currency transac-

tions should be explored as one option, as

should the creation of an international

corporate tax base among multinational

companies. It is time for the evolution of

a consensus on the concept of global tax-

ation for servicing the needs of the global

neighborhood.

You heard right! The Commission on

Global Governance clearly called for a

global tax!

This really should not surprise us. For

several years globalists have been quietly

and carefully promoting the idea of a

global tax. The most mentioned is called

the Tobin Tax. It would be levied on allinternational financial transactions at the

rate of five-tenths of one percent. This

seems like an insignificant amount.

However, it would generate $1.5 trillion

in income for the United Nations per

year. The present yearly budget for the

UN is listed as $10 billion. This tax

would multiply the UN income by 150

times! With that kind of money to spend,

the United Nations could really do some

global governing!

UN standing armyOur Global Neighborhood points out

that the United Nations is handicappedwhen dealing with armed conflict around

the globe. Since it has to rely on nations

to supply troops when a crisis arises,

many times the UN response time is too

slow. The solution to this problem as set

forth by the Commission on Global

Governance is to create a standing UN

army. Listen to the ideas of the

Commission.

The United Nations has, at present,

no capacity to deploy immediately a well-

trained force to carry out the mandate of

the Security Council in the early stages of

a crisis, before a situation gets completely

out of control. Governments are under-

standably reluctant to commit troops rap-

idly for UN action, particularly in civil

wars and internal conflicts, where the risk

of loss of personnel is higher than in tra-

ditional peacekeeping operations. This

has renewed interest in an idea originallyraised in 1948 by Trygve Lie, the first

UN Secretary-General. He called for the

establishment of a small United Nations

guard force that would be recruited by

the Secretary-General and placed at the

disposal of the Security CouncilIt is

high time that a UN Volunteer Force was

established. We envisage a force with a

maximum of 10,000 personnel.

Back to thequestion

Lets summarize.The UN plans for a

World Court that

can try individual

citizens from any

nation on earth. It

wants to abolish the

veto power so that

nations will be

unable to stop any

action that the glob-

al majority would

decide upon. The

United Nations is

planning for its own

tax system so that it

will not be subject to

the financial control

of donor nations.

And it wants a

standing army that can move quickly to

enforce its decisions upon the nations of

the earth.

Now for the questionIs the United

Nations in the process of becoming a gov-

ernment? When you have a system ofinternational law, the power to tax, the

power to place on trial and to incarcerate,

and the power to employ troops to

enforce your decisions, ladies and gentle-

menyou have a government.

Do not be misled by the slick oratory of

those that would deceive us with such

nonsensical statements as: The UN is

global governance, not a global govern-

ment.

Stop the presses! Does anyone have a

dictionary?! What is governance anyhow?

The next time a globalist tells you that

the UN is not a global government, but is

an instrument for global governance, ask

if he is stupid or if he thinks you are!

Governance is government, and global

National sovereignty and globalgovernance

When interviewing Maurice Strong,

the man entrusted with reforming the

United Nations, I asked him to explain

the difference between global governance

and global government.

Strong stated that nations retained

their sovereignty even though they dele-

gated government at the international

level to the UN. He explained that the

states of the United States retain a level of

sovereignty even though they have dele-gated sovereignty at the national level to

the federal government.

This comparison did not comfort me at

all since I live in the United States. All

U.S. citizens know very well that the

individual states are not sovereign.

Perhaps this would be a good time to

take a look at the definition of sovereign-

ty. World Book Dictionary defines sover-

eignty this way: Independent of the con-

trol of another government or govern-

ments. World Book gives the following

example to clarify the definition: The

United States of America is a sovereign

nation, but the 50 states which compose

it do not have full sovereignty.

The bottom line is thisif the United

States ever surrenders its veto on the UN

Security Council, we will merely be one

of the states in the United States of the

World. We will no longer be a sovereign

nation.

Why do globalists attempt to deceive

by saying that the UN is global gover-

nance not global government? Because

they know that the vast majority of us do

not want to be under the control of a

world government. But they believe that

world government is the answer for the

future of the world. Consequently, they

attempt to disguise world government by

calling it global governance. The effort to

deceive is deliberate!

The UN has a set of laws. It has a court

system. It has a Secretary General and a

General Assembly. The UN has soldiersthat enforce its will on the world. And it

will soon have its own system of global

taxation.

The sooner we face the truth, the bet-

ter. If it looks like a duck, walks like a

duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a

duck.

Ladies and gentlemen, the United

Nations is a world government!

Furthermore, it is the world government

prophesied in the Bible over which the

Antichrist will soon rule!

God Wanted Something ElseWhat a wonderful time we had at our

Prophecy Retreat here in Richmond,

Indiana! Yesterday we said goodbye to a

few dozen Politics & Religion listeners

and Endtime readers.

While it is fresh on my mind, please

allow me to share some of the weekends

highlights.

We found that it wasnt hard to make

friends, because everyone had much in

common. Of course we shared interest in

prophecybut unity went beyond

prophecy. This was a special group. We

hungered and thirsted after God. We

wanted to know Him.

After a great dinner at the conference

center, a few informal opening remarks, a

warm-up Q&A session and a good nights

sleep, and we were ready to go. My intent

for the weekend was not to simply pull

the rip chord and recycle lessons from

Understanding the Endtime. We couldhave done this. It would have been well-

enough received and made my life a tad

easier. Throw in a few current events, and

we all would have enjoyed it! During our

weekend there was a terrorist bombing in

Tel Aviv that killed 20 Israeli youths and

wounded 80, prompting Ariel Sharon to

lift his self-imposed cease fireleading

to who-knows-what. We lived through

history and knew how to make prophetic

sense of it. That was easy. But I felt in

prayer that God wanted something else.

The decision was to teach what I can-

not teach on radio. The overriding theme

was Revelation 17 the Mother of

Harlots and all of her daughters.

Amongst friends we spoke freely of the

Vaticans place in the

endtimes what she has

done and her effect on

each of our lives. I did mybest to let the Bible

speak and the Spirit have

His way.

I taught a lesson called

Understanding the

Godhead and what Jesus

meant when He said that

you must be born again.

Question & Answer

sessions followed each

lesson. The Qs were

excellent and came in

droves. The As camefrom the Word as best as

I was able. You could

sense the hunger. It was pure.

We were a diverse lot. Attendees came

from as near as northern Indiana and as far

as British Columbia, Canada. They drove

in from Omaha on the west, New

Hampshire in the east, and Texas and

Georgia from the south. Each came with

a purpose; with questions. Some came

with hurt and pain; starved; inquisitive;

seeking an experience. Many denomina-

tions were represented; however, theBible became the only denomination of

significance at this retreat.

We toured the Endtime facilities. The

group enjoyed a live broadcast in action,

and we recorded two programs of our

own. On Saturday night, we drove to the

nicest restaurant in Richmond, and after-

wards to my church for a service. It lasted

what seemed like halfway into the night,

and yet not nearly long enough. Many

were baptized. Many were filled with

Gods Holy Spirit. There was no preach-ing. The Spirit moved. Words cannot

explain with justice what we experienced

on Saturday night, so I will not even try.

We captured most of the proceedings

on audio and video. The audio is avail-

able; were not sure what to do with the

video yet.

The conference center was cute and

served us enough food to choke the Black

Horse of the Apocalypse. The weather

was lousy and we were all too happy to

stay inside but thats where the action

was anyway. Our Endtime staff members

were thrilled to meet and spend time

with so many people they have come to

know so well by phone and through

email.

I get the feeling we will be having

another Prophecy Retreat. And when we

do, I hope you are able to join us!

dward Timperlake

was a presidential

advisor on Chinese

affairs in both the

Reagan and Bush

administrations. He and his writ-ing partner William Triplett co-

authored two bestselling books,Year of the Rat and Red Dragon

Rising. The former documents

how the Communist Chinese pen-

etrated the American government

through campaign contributions

to Clinton and Gore. The latter

shows how China, the leading

national security threat, has

grown to become ever more dan-

gerous.

Timperlake and Triplett have

over 50 years of combined profes-

sional experience in national secu-

rity affairs. Both have an intense

appreciation for the future strate-

gic threats facing the United

States and the rest of the democratic

world. Both have been interviewed on

several occasions by Endtime.

The following is a recent interview

with Edward Timperlake. The sidebar

article, on pages 20-21, A Despicable

Breach of Trust highlights the escalatingtensions (understated) between the U.S.

and China.

Baxter: Ed, where are we right now inour relations with China?

Timperlake: At a critical point. Therecent U.S. elections were important in

this regard. By switching administra-

tions we have brought a team to the fore;

President Bush and his senior advisors,

Secretary Powell, Secretary Rumsfeld,

and Condoleeza Rice of the National

Security Council are hardened pros.

They all saw the demise of the Soviet

Empire. They saw how nuclear deter-

rence, toughness and fortitude of princi-

ple works.

We have a president that has saidTaiwan is worth defending. This is an

important issue. America has a challenge

to rebuild our defenses. We are going in

the right direction right now. But we do

have a red zone. I hate to use a football

clich, but theyve moved down the field.

Theyre approaching us. I think our

defenses will be built, and we are going to

send the right signals. The president and

his team have awakened the American

people hopefully to what needs to be

done.

Sax: But you think weve given up 80yards already?

Timperlake: I think we did. Exactly.Thats an excellent analogy. Theyre play-

ing in our half of the field.

Sax: Ed, you mentioned Hitler. Therewas a lot of rhetoric coming out of Nazi

Germany in the 30s, but people didnt

give it any credence. Look what hap-

pened. They said they would do certain

things, and they did. Now there has been

a tremendous amount of rhetoric coming

out of China. Theyve made it very clear

what their intentions are with Taiwan.

And weve made our intentions pretty

clear what were going to do about it.

air? Are they just blowing smoke, or is

there something more?

Timperlake: Its more. When I was inthe intelligence business, I studied the

Soviet Empire with some pretty high-

level clearances. Our fundamental ques-

tion always had two parts. What are your

opponents intentions and what are theircapabilities? You had to marry these two

factors to get the complete picture.

The Chinese have made no secret about

their intentions. But what are their capa-

bilities - their military? Before I address

that, however, I want to say that my fight

is not with the Chinese people. Our

hearts go out to the citizens of China who

suffer under this totalitarian regime. I am

picking on the leaders.

They have a bad system. And inside

that bad system they have good and bad

people. A lot of their bad people aretheir military officers who are writing

some very ugly things about attacking

America. Well, is it bombast, and is it

hollow? No. And heres why.

In your introduction you mentioned

the Sovremenny destroyer. The

Sovremenny has eight Sunburn missiles

on it, which have nuke warhead capabili-

ty. These are high speed, 2.5 times the

speed of sound. They cruise in a few hun-

dred feet above the water, do a pop-up

maneuver about 80 kilometers out and

come down on a carrier or cruiser and takeit out. With a nuke blast you dont have

to get too close.

The Russians and Chinese are shaking

hands and working with each other. They

are sending very powerful forces up

against the American fleet. America has

this terrible policy... Im sorry; its a won-

derful position in a lot of wayswe dont

shoot first...usually. Because of that, if

that destroyer gets off its armament load,

those sailorsthose young men and

women in the Seventh Fleet would havetheir hands full with an incoming attack

that they may not have the appropriate

defenses for. Thats why the President of

the United States and his Secretary of

Defense are sounding this wake-up call

on missile defense, a wake-up call on

rebuilding the military, and a wake-up

call telling China to back off on Taiwan.

Will this produce an arms race? We

document in Red Dragon Rising that an

arms race was launched by the Chinese

government a couple of years ago. In fact,

they have already run a few laps around

the track, and were still trying to get our

shoes on. We were going backward in this

regard up until just a few weeks ago.

Baxter: I want to make sure everyoneadequately appreciates what is going on

here. Back in 1996 when Taiwan had its

first democratic elections, China launchedmissiles five miles off the coast of Taiwan

as a warning. The U.S. countered by put-

ting two of our aircraft carriers, into the

straits of Taiwan. China had no military

answer for our aircraft carriers. Shortly

thereafter, China placed an order with

Russia for two Sovremenny destroyers.

They have just taken delivery of these

ships. And as you mentioned, Ed, they do

have nuclear warhead capabilities. After

five years, China now has an answer to our

aircraft carriers.

Timperlake: Yes. That is true.

Baxter: Lets go down a different road

now. George Bush is announcing the

implementation of an anti-missile defense

system. One date I read was that by 2004

we will have some of those weapons in

place.

Look at it from Chinas viewpoint.

They have threatened to take Taiwan.

They said you can stake your life on it; we

are going to do it; in fact, we are willing

to shed all of our blood if necessary.

Those were the exact words of Zhu

Rongji, the Prime Minister of China.

Will there be a time when diminishing

returns hit them? A time when instead of

pulling closer, they start falling further

behind? What I am trying to say is, what

is their window of opportunity?

Timperlake: You ask the absolutemost insightful questions Ive ever got-

ten. I was just on Taiwan. The issue is not

about absolute military strength. Itsexactly what youre talking about, which

is relative military strength. What do I

mean by that?

The Chinese military has fortified their

coast with 300 of those missiles near

Taiwan. That is enough to paralyze much

of the Taiwanese infrastructure. They can

take out runways, hit the ships in port if

they catch them off guard and shut down

their power grid. Im not talking about

nukes here. They have the relative

strength for a strategic strike that can

cripple an island like Taiwan with the

press of a button. This is a serious imbal-

ance, and Taiwan has a serious problem.

The gulf is wide. But with missile

defense, maybe, just maybe in the foresee-

able future, we can then see a ray of hope

that our technological capabilities will be

able to track and knock down theatre bal-

listic missiles, which is what were talk-ing about here. If we develop effective

weaponry to knock those down, then we

will have brought stability back to that

part of the world. The surprise attack can-

not happen. China would then be forced

to negotiate.

I think the president took a courageous

step in this direction when he started the

anti-missile defense program. This tech-

nology can stop this threat in the Pacific

Rim that, in a moments notice, can cre-

ate havoc on our troops and on the

Taiwanese, South Koreans, or God forbid,

the Japanese.

The greatest hope for humanity is for

the Peoples Republic of China to eventu-

ally decide theyre on the wrong path of

history and for their government to

change.

Baxter: Lets bring another factor intothis. Back in 1995, Chinese General

Xiong Guankai, known as General X,

said to Charles Freeman of our State

Department that he didnt think that we

would trade Los Angeles for Taiwan.

Timperlake: That is correct. In fact,

that was a very powerful statement.

Obviously the General made a joke,

right? He said it in the heat of the

moment? Off the cuff? No, no! The

Chinese were very serious. The phrase he

Americans are not prepared to trade L.A.

for Taipei. He and the Chinese govern-

ment backed it up. So it was not a false

statement. It wasnt made with bluff. It

was made at the height of a moment say-

ing, look, thats the way were thinking,

and you Americans had better understand

it.Thats what catches me by surprise. A

lot of the apologists for China tend to

ignore what theyre saying!

Baxter: Because we dont want to

believe it. Because wed like to believe

they want peace as much as we do.

Timperlake: Exactly right.

Baxter: Letstake this to the

next step. Chinatoday has at least

24 intercontinen-

tal ballistic mis-

siles equipped

with nuclear

weaponry.

Timper lake :Ive heard as high

as 28, unclassified.

Baxter: Andwho knows how

many they really

have.

Timper lake :Yes.

Baxter: These24 or 28 are city-buster atomic bombs

ten times as powerful as the one dropped

on Hiroshima. This would give China the

ability to take out dozens of major

American cities. Once we get the anti-missile defense system effectively work-

ing, Chinas position, all of a sudden, will

be greatly reduced. They are getting

ready to lose their checkmate ability for

the United States of America. So if theyre

going to take Taiwan, theyve got to do it

before the anti-missile defense system is

up. Thats serious.

Timperlake: We are in a very danger-ous period. My co-author, Bill Triplett,

has been studying the Chinese military

since 1965. Im the weapons expert. I

study weapons, military positioning and

use of force. Our combined read is that

China has a transition problem in the near

term. Some of their old rulers hate to let

go, and some of their military want to be

hardliners. They are having internal

debates right now on the appropriate

strategy for exercising their will aroundthe globe. A lot of the arguments that you

have made, I am sure are being discussed

in the halls of Beijing daily. Specifically,

what will they do considering their rela-

tive power against America, and their

ability to make a surprise surgical strike

to paralyze Taiwan.

I dont know where they will go, but

my argument is very clear. This debate

has to be taken in front of the American

people so they know what the exact stakes

are, because it could turn very ugly. We

will probably have to bring the Seventh

Fleet into harms way and casualties willoccur. That is something the country

must be ready to rally around. But lets

have this debate before the first missile

flies.

Baxter: Youve been studying theChinese for a long time. What is the

potential for miscalculation? What is the

potential that they would launch a light-

ning strike against Taiwan and then look

at the United States and say, Its over.

Forget about it. You said you subscribed

to the One China Policy. (Even George

W. Bush has said this.) We had rebellion

on our hands. If it were Texas, you would

go in and defend your sovereignty there.

Likewise, we are defending our sovereign-

ty in Taiwan. Are you going to risk a

superpower nuclear exchange on a policy

that you yourself have said you subscribe

to?Is that a possible scenario?

Timperlake: It was much more possi-ble when Bill Clinton was president,

because they were getting mixed signals.

The miscommunication was much

greater. Yes, Im sure the president sub-

scribes to the One China Policy. But if

youll notice, he also said that we will sell

the equipment nec-

essary to Taiwan,

and make sure they

are not overrun byforce of arms. A def-

inite line has been

drawn. I think that

is a powerful and

important signal to

send right now. It

makes them think

twice.

If Taiwan loses its

freedom and democ-

racy...if Taiwan is

allowed to be

painted red, that

is, if the communist

Chinese take over

and impose their

will on it, then

Japan has to cut a

separate deal, South

Korea gets nervous,

and on down through the Pacific Rim. It

all becomes unstable. America then has to

make the choice to move out of the

Pacific, because Japan may have the ugly

choice of going to nuke weapons.

Sax: The people who understand the

prophecies in this area understand that

what you are telling us here is an all-too-

real scenario.

Ed, you and I were joking earlier that,

when you wrote your book Red Dragon

whole thing blows over and life goes back

to normal. Meanwhile, you and Triplett

sold a few books along the way. It could

have played out that way. But it didnt.

The fact is, the nation of China has been

following through on everything youve

been discussing for years, and its gotten awhole lot worse.

Timperlake: At the military briefingsI attended while on the island of Taiwan,

they showed pictures of a major highway

and rail line that runs down the entire

Chinese coast. The geography of that part

of the world is nothing more than little

fishing villages and seaport cities. Its a

highway to nowhere...except to Taiwan.

They pointed out that it leads to all of

their ports to load troops and logistics to

try and figure out how to cross that straitand do some ugly things.

The Taiwanese are concerned, and they

have every right to be.

I am a marine, and have trained in

amphibious operations. I know how hard

they are. I believe the missile threat is

probably the most important one right

now, and it has to be checked. The air

threat from China is extensive thanks to

the Russian equipment and top-flight

fighters theyre buying. I was a marine

fighter pilot and a graduate of the Senior

Officers Course at Top Gun. I know air

combat, and I know the Chinese air force

is increasing their military might with

Russian purchases.

You are right on as far as the emerging

threat from China. My only hope is that,

deep down inside, the Chinese people

may see how bad their system of govern-

ment is and do something about it. It has

to come from within. We have to deter

them, and buy time.

Taiwan shows that democracy works.

Its an island with a population of only 22

million people, and they have the 5th

largest economy in the world. To let them

get gobbled up by China would be a greattragedy. By standing tall and saying its

wrong, the American people are sending a

powerful signal around the world. This is

our system of fundamental beliefs and

government. We dont have to impose our

will on everyone, but we do have to stand

on principle.

Baxter: And we have to stand againstthose who would impose their will by

force.

What were seeing here is a battle for

the soul of the world, Ed. We are eithergoing to face a 21st Century dominated

by true democracy and freedom, or we

will see a 21st Century dominated by a

resurgent Marxist state. What you said

was so valuable - that if we lose Taiwan, it

bleeds to Japan, and to South Korea and

to that entire part of the world - the part

of the world thats getting ready to be the

economic powerhouse of 21st Century.

May 3, China Slings Mud. The Peoples Daily,

the Communist party newspaper, heaved a

powerful personal attack on President Bushfor his handling of relations with Beijing

and his decision to push for national missile

defense. His policies are driven by egotism. He is a weak

Shui-bian said that Chinas response to the spy plane incident

leads us to believe that China is indeed a threat to the Asia-

Pacific region.

May 3, China Hacks Up. Untold thousands of websites were

maligned by Chinese hackers during the first week of May.

Among the victims were the White House, FBI, NASA,

Congress, UPI, Pacific Bell and, last but not least, Endtime.

The demonstration shows their ability to compete in cyber

warfare.

May 4, China Shut Out. The U.S., backed by the EuropeanUnion, blocked Chinas latest request for a new round of World

Trade Organization entry talks in late May.

May 4, China Thumbs Nose. Beijing said the United States

deserved to lose its seat on the UN Human Rights

Commission because it has always used the body to pursue its

power politics. The Communist-state controlled Xinhua news

agency called the U.S. a self-proclaimed human rights cham-

pion that lost its seat by legal means.

May 4, China Shuns Shield. The Bush administration found

no encouraging words from Beijing for its proposed American

will have twice the gross national product

of the United States. Were dealing with

very high and weighty issues.

Timperlake: The strength of theRussian-Chinese alliance is something

that should give America pause. I dont

think the Russians will ever fire their

ICBMs in anger. They are rational. Butquite frankly, by allowing this technology

to bleed into China, things have become

much more dangerous. And having them

steal our W-88, thats the small nuke that

goes in a multiple entry vehicle, has

increased the China threat dramatically.

You can put up to 11 of them on top of

one missile.

Baxter: Ed, are you telling me that ofthese 24 or 28 missiles that its being

reported that China has, they now have

the ability to put up to 11 warheads oneach one? That would mean they could

hit between 240 and 300 American

cities!

Timperlake: Theyre getting to thatpoint. We dont know. Theyve stolen the

technology to build the small nukes.

They have developed whats called kick

motors, thanks to our defense industrial

firms who gave it to them for satellite

positioning. This means they can create a

vehicle to transport warheads into orbit to

the edge of the atmosphere, and then the

kick motors send them raining down on

their targets. The Chinese have all the

parts. We havent seen them demonstrate

that they can do it yet, but they brag

theyre getting close.

Another thing theyre getting close to,

and they brag theyve done it, is launch-ing missiles from submarine tubes under

the water.

All of a sudden now, the Peoples

Republic of China is emerging as a mod-

ern military superpower. Theyre not there

yet with their nuclear arms at this point,

but they are on the threshold of creating a

very potent and capable nuclear arsenal.

America has always relied on strong

weapons to tell the world, Dont mess

with us. We mean peace. We will never

use them in anger, and we wont fire first.

But remember, we have enough todestroy you. That is whats called deter-

rence. Russia has it also. But not

China...yet, except what we discussed ear-

lier one missile, one warhead, one city.

But the minute they start developing the

technology theyve stolen, bought and

borrowed, then we have a significant

problem. We will then have to face China

as a superpower.

Theyre not there yet, but theyre very

close.

Baxter: It was reported recently thatRussia conducted a simulated attack. The

scenario was China and the U.S. experi-

enced a nuclear exchange, and Russia

simulated what they would do in such a

circumstance. Bill Gertz broke the story.

If such an exchange were to happen, do

you see it likely that Russia would

become involved, or would they be morelikely to stay out hoping China and the

U.S. would bring each other down so they

could emerge as the dominant player on

the world scene? Do you have a feel for

that at all?

Timperlake: My personal feeling isthat your latter scenario is correct. I read

Russia has an arsenal. They provide the

goods and military capability to China,

then step back and say, Why dont the

two of you fight it out!

Sax: Your hunch seems to line up withthe prophecies of the Bible.

Baxter: Ed, the information you bringis essential for us. We do believe there is

a confrontation coming. This is one of the

times we hope we are wrong. And if Ive

misread this prophecy concerning a com-

ing war with China, Ill be very happy

that I was wrong.

May 4, China Shuts Up. When asked why they would not

llow American technicians on Hainan Island to inspect the

amaged U.S. surveillance plane, Beijings Chinese-English

ictionary ran dry.

May 7, Chinas Shore Seen. The United States resumed

econnaissance flights off the coast of China, the first since

April 1.

May 7, China Steers Shots. U.S. intelligence reveals that it

etected in early April China moved its 24 intercontinentalallistic missiles, most of which are aimed at U.S. cities. Same

ay: The Peoples Liberation Army is seen building ballistic

missile launch sites to cover U.S. military targets in the

Pacific.

May 8, China Chops Plane. Beijing announces it will force

he U.S. to take the EP-3 reconnaissance plane home in pieces.

A Chinese official said the U.S. should draw a lesson from the

ollision and correct such wrongdoing. Deputy Foreign

Minister Li Zhaoxing said, If we allow such a military plane,

which had a mission of spying on China, to be flown back from

Chinese military airfield, that would further hurt the digni-

ty and sentiments of the Chinese people. It would be the

cause of strong indignation and opposition from the Chinese

people. This is the reason for what we are doing.

May 23, China Spouts Off. A 21-member congressional del-

egation greeted the President of Taiwan in New York. Same

day, Washington, D.C. The President of the United States of

America hosted Tibets spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. Both

men are denounced as renegades by China, promoting inde-

pendence for their respective regions. Beijing accuses the U.S.

of rude interference. They are strongly dissatisfied and

opposed to the meetings. The official China Daily calls it a

despicable breach of trust by Washington. Major media out-

lets reported that the already sour relations between the twocountries took a marked turn for the worse that day.

The U.S. State Department said the visits should not have an

impact on Washingtons ties with China. A senior White

House official who asked not to be identified, told Reuters,

Relations with China, I would say, are stable and more posi-

tive than not. Bush still intends to be at the Asia Pacific

Economic Cooperation summit in Shanghai and meet with

Chinese President Jiang Zemin in Beijing in October.

Chinese officials say, The new U.S. administration has gone

back on its word...has broken its commitments, and it should

stop interfering in Chinas internal affairs. Or else?
