Presented by TL. Soil Remediation Projects II, Muthanna Al-Momin, on the 26th of July 2016, the Tuesday Talk focused on the cost benefit of utilizing tri-generation energy plants to provide utility services (electricity, cooling and heating) to Ahmadi Township, and the potential transferability to the Government sector and future housing, commercial and industrial facilities.

The presentation highlighted the economic and environmental benefit of implementing tri-generation, as studies showed that cost savings could be reduced by 50% compared to traditional systems. In addition, they also reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by 30% from the air-conditioning/cooling system vs. chilled water and 58% vs. domestic air-conditioning equipment in Ahmadi.

Al-Momin also displayed a short film explaining that when considering a social cost of carbon of $80.25, the global environmental remediation cost reduction would be equivalent to KD 500,000 vs. chilled water systems and KD 1,700,000 when compared to domestic air-conditioning equipment.

At the end of the event, Al-Momin answered the attendees’ questions, who expressed their appreciation for the lecture subject.
