Vietnam Oil & Gas Group - Petrovietnam, formerly Vietnam Oil and Gas General Department, was established on September 3, 1975. As a state-owned company, Petrovietnam is responsible for management and implementation of petroleum activities throughout the entire territory of Vietnam..After 40 years, Petrovietnam has developed a complete oil and gas industry, ranging from exploration - production, gas industry, power generation, and petroleum servicesThe group is the pioneer in promoting national economic growth, high-level human resources, international integration and making offshore investments.

Oil and Gas Exploration and Production

Oil and Gas Exploration and Production are our core business activities, which have been implementing widely in the country and abroad. Our strategic objective is to promote exploration & production, increase oil and gas recovery rate; prioritize developing deep and offshore areas, actively making offshore investments.In Vietnam, Petrovietnam has been promoting the investigation and exploration in deep, offshore areas with major international oil company.

Oil and Gas Exploration and Production

In addition, Petrovietnam has actively sought and utilized opportunities to expand its investment in potential areas such as South East Asia, Africa, Middle East, CIS countries, Central / South America. Petrovietnam is carrying out 11 contracts in 9 countries around the world.

Refining - Petrochemical

The oil and gas refining sector completes the value chain of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry, providing essential products for the economy and for export such as petroleum products, fertilizer, chemicals, plastics and textiles.

Petrovietnam owns and operates two refinery plants, two fertilizer plants, one fiber plant, two biofuel plants.

Gas IndustryOver the past years, Petrovietnam has completed the value chain ranging from collecting, storaging and processing, supplying important fuel for power generation, fertilizer and chemicals production, transportation and other civil use.In addition to the safe and efficient operation of the existing system, Petrovietnam is actively developing large-scale gas projects to meet the growing demand of the economy.

Power Generation

Currently, Petrovietnam is the second largest power producer in Vietnam with 4 gas-fired power plants, 1 coal-fired power plant and 3 hydro- power plants with the total capacity of 4.208,2 MW. Petrovietnam has been speeding up the progress of 4 coal-fired power plants to meet the power demand in the near future of Vietnam.According to Petrovietnam power development strategy to 2025, the Group’s power production will account for 18% of the country’s total output.

Petroleum Services

Since its establishment, Petrovietnam has been looking forward to building professional service units, ensuring the active implementation of petroleum activities, investment projects; applying and transferring science and technology to its operations such as drilling and drilling rigs engineering and platforms; petroleum service ships; seismic and geo-physics survey services ... and other services such as financial, insurance, petroleum transportation ...Being active in these areas has helped Petrovietnam to efficiently and cost-effectively operate in many projects; At the same time, it brings significant revenue in exporting oil and gas services abroad.

Science and Technology

The development of Petrovietnam is associated with scientific research and technology application. To date, scientific and technological activities have been developed and associated with the Group’s business activities in petroleum value chain from upstream, midstream to downstream.

Oriented toward 2025, Petrovietnam plans to increase investment in integrated and advanced facilities for scientific research and technological development units under the Group; at the same time, we focus on directing the successful implementation of breakthrough solutions in science and technology with a view to raise the potential of Vietnam’s oil and gas science and technology.

Safety-Health-Environment

Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) are the prime responsibilities of all levels of management and units in performing production and business tasks.Petrovietnam has taken appropriate measures to eliminate and minimize risks that might affect human health and life or damage the properties and environment. Petrovietnam together with its subsidiaries continually improve Safety-Health-Environment policies to meet the requirements of business activities.

Petrovietnam is the pioneer of Vietnam in international integration and offshore investments. International cooperation includes the implementation of oil and gas research, exploration and production projects abroad, cooperation with foreign oil and gas companies to implement projects in Vietnam; cooperation and scientific and technological advancements transfer, human resources training.

International Cooperation

Every year, Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries have contributed to social security through humanitarian assistance activities, education support, disaster recovery and earthquake relief. The social security projects funded by Petrovietnam have helped change many rural areas and islands, bringing better living conditions for the people.
