How It WorksSenergys Solar Tracker starts out the day facing west - - - from

the evening before. As the sun rises in the east, it heats theunshaded west-side canister on the Tracker, forcing liquid R22 HCFCrefrigerant into the shaded east-side canister. As liquid movesthrough the sealed copper tube to the east-side canister, the balancechanges, rotating the Tracker to face the east.

Heating of the Trackers liquid is controlled by aluminum shadowplates positioned as "wings" on the outside edges of the tracker.When one canister is exposed to the sun more than the other, vapor pressure increases. This forces liquid to the cooler, shaded side of the Tracker. The shifting weight of the liquid causes the rack to rotate

until the canisters are equally shaded. This keeps the Tracker focused on the sun, as it continually keeps the weight within thecanisters as equal as possible.

As the sun moves across the sky, the rack follows (atapproximately 15 degrees per hour), always seeking equilibrium asliquid moves from one side of the Tracker to the other to keep it facingthe direct rays of the sun.

The Tracker completes its daily cycle facing west. It remains inthis position overnight, until it is awakened by the heat of the risingsun the following morning.
