Energy Silk Road
WHAT WE SHOULD DO?
✴ Building power plants near coal deposits ✴ Get connected to the China’s Energy Silk Road
W HAT WE SHOULD DO?
✴ Give China what they want ✴ It is now time to get more close to China
INTERNAL BENEFITS
✴ Increased competitiveness of Mongolian coal ✴ Dramatically decreased mining operational costs through
minimizing diesel expenditures
INTERNAL BENEFITS
✴ Coal mines generating energy and using own produced energy
EXTERNAL BENEFITS
✴ Export energy to China ✴ There is an MoU between Mongolian and China Government signed in 2005
regarding energy export from Mongolia to China
EXTERNAL BENEFITS
✴ Dreams of exporting energy to North-East Asia will become reality ✴ Coal energy will be exported to Japan and Korea together with renewable energy
(supporting present government policies on exporting renewable energies)
WHAT WE SHALL DO ?
✴ Mongolia coal companies should unite for global interests ✴ Coal companies to build up a shareholding company which should pursue
companies’ global interests in international market ✴ This company will be a Global company exporting MONGOLIAN COAL
ENERGY to international market
There are today 250 coal mine license holders in
Mongolia
WHAT WE SHOULD DO ?
Mongolian Coal Energy Company /MCEC/
170 billion tons of coal reserves in Mongolia to be verified and at least 50 billion tons of reserves must be in ownership of MCEC
That means, it will become one of the world largest coal companies with estimated USD50 billion assets
Peabody ~ estimated assets- USD20 billion; Shenhua+China Coal ~ USD16 billion
OTHER FACTORS
✴ Future of nuclear energy became unclear after Fukushima disaster
✴ Most of politicians in other countries raise their voices against nuclear energy
✴ Renewable energy still cannot be considered as a 100% reliable energy source
Above mentioned factors lead to the conclusion that coal will stay as the most valuable energy sources for quite long time
until new solutions/technologies are found
SUMMARY
✴ COAL=ENERGY ✴ China interests+internal benefits+external
benefits ✴ Mongolia will become one of the world leading
energy exporters
