Introduction

Sketching means make a rough drawing of something Make conversation by sketching Benefit of sketching

First point

Kitchen utensil: Blender What I see: 3parts: Cover part, Container, Machine What I feel by touching : Rubber-made cover, container

made with plastic, blades are sharp Function of blender: mix something, break something into

small pieces Convenient

Second point

What are the sketching tools I use? :Pencil, eraser, finger Pencil Grades:

9H,8H,7H,6H,5H,4H,3H,2H,H,HB,B,2B,3B,4B,5B,6B,7B,8B,9B

Arrange everything on my table, feel more comfortable But at the end it became messy

Third point

Process of my sketching 1st step: sketch the shape (shape sketching) 2nd step: trace the outline (outline tracing) 3rd step: shade the sketch (sketch shading) 4th step: mixing and balancing the darkness of colour 5th step: contouring everything using black pen Mistakes – redo if any mistakes (erase is annoying)

Conclusion

Feeling happy and sad because of the process essay is coming

2hours sketching Learn many things through the sketching and process writing

According to the Oxford dictionary, sketching means that the process of making a rough or unfinished drawing or painting. As

for me, sketching is part of my life and it means everything to me. In the other words, I just cannot live without sketching. Here is a question, is it possible that we can communicate with others without writing or speaking? The answer is yes, it is possible as sketching can be the fastest way to express the idea to others. For example, an architect communicates with their client by sketching even they do not have to meet up. Moreover, sketching is an easier way for people to understand what you are trying to express compared to a long wordy paragraph. Majority of my courses, Foundation in Natural and Built Environment, are using sketches for presentation and description. By the way, I was instructed by my English 1 lecturer, Ms. Cassandra, to compose a process essay writing. This process essay is mainly regarding the steps that involved in producing an attractive sketch of my kitchen utensil.

Among so many kitchen utensil, the one that i had chosen is blender. By using my five senses, I can see that the blender split into 3 parts, first is the cover, followed by the container and lastly is the machine. Besides, there are also four blades at the bottom of the container and it is powered by the electric motor at the base. The combination of the sound roar and buzz are produced when there is a blending process. In terms of the smell, it is actually odourless. Additionally, fruit juices that blended by the blender are tasty and ‘sandy’ as there are some pomaces in the juice. The functions of the blender are to slice and dice foods into smaller pieces, create emulsions, mix liquids and foods and to make smooth purees. In short, the reason why I am choosing the blender is because it is convenient for everyone to use, user-friendly and has multifunction.

As everyone knows, there are some essential drawing tools to be used in sketching, but what are they? Generally, the drawing tools that I use for sketching are pencils, erasers and fingers. Normally, pen is unsuitable and is not recommended to use for sketching because it is inerasable, yet, I am still using it to draw the outline of my drawing. Nevertheless, there are two types of pencils in different grades which are grade H and grade B. The lead and the ink of grade H pencil are harder and lighter compared to grade B pencil. In my piece of sketching work of the blender, I was using 2B pencil as has a suitable hardness and the darkness

colour for shading. Additionally, I preferred a tidy table for sketching instead of a messy table.

Last but not least, I use my own style for sketching every object. The first step that I used was sketching the shapes of the blender by using pencil. Subsequently, I used a pencil with darker colour to trace the outline of the blender and the next step was to shade the whole diagram with the same darkness. Then, I marked ‘x’ at the part that is exposed to the light. As for the shaded part, I just shade harder to make it darken. After that, I used my finger to rub off the shaded region to balance up the darkness of the whole diagram. Lastly, I used a black pen to contour the whole outline of the blender. Besides, everyone makes mistakes, but there are plenty ways to solve it. In my own conceit, if I make mistakes, I will just redo everything rather than erasing the small part carefully as sometimes it will ruin everything that i have just sketched.

As a conclusion, I feel like I am in the seventh heaven when I finally completed the sketching but then I felt from heaven to the hell in the couple minute because there is a process essay is waiting for me to complete. It took me 2 hours to complete the whole sketching as I shown below. Moreover, for the question “would you do this again?” Honestly, from my point of view, I think every one of us will not want to do this again. However, after conducting this assignment, I had learnt how to write a process essay and I think it is useful for me in the future.
