ENGINEERING The dual degree engineering program prepares students to be successful engineers by emphasizing a robust science core, coupled with strong problem solving and communication skills.

Students spend three years at Hiram College, followed by two years at one of our partner universities, both of which boast national reputations for their engineering programs: • Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland • Washington University in St. Louis

Future engineers major in physics, biology, chemistry or computer science at Hiram, and, upon meeting required academic and disciplinary standards, are then guaranteed admission into a partner university. There, students study their desired engineering field, and after two additional years, earn two bachelor’s degrees.

Our 3+2 program is an attrac-tive option for future engineers who want: • an opportunity to complete degrees in two diverse areas. • the chance to build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in engineering through the supportive, personalized environment of Hiram College. • to acquire the scientific problem-solving skills necessary to be effective in today’s technologically oriented society. • to develop a broad, liberal arts knowledge base and strong “people skills,” which are necessary in relating to and working with clients.

Engineering-related majors regularly top the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ “Top-Paid Majors” list, and graduates of the five-year program are well prepared to succeed and lead successful careers.

Dual degree students often make the best engineers because they possess the technical and scientific knowledge required for the field, but also the broad background and excellent oral and written communication skills that are required to assume leadership roles and solve complex problems.
