Explore More Terrain Building the best gear for the outdoors, supporting the preservation of
wild places, and inspiring a global movement of outdoor exploration.
Here at The North Face, we want to ensure our customers have access
to our ever-changing environment, both in our company and the best
solutions for exploring our planet Earth.
Over 40 Years of Innovation
The concept of a complete line of clothing for every need has always motivated the Research Design & Development team. The 1985 Mountain Jacket and Pant - a weatherproof suit utiliz-ing GORE-TEX® fabrics - was among the first fully seam-taped outfits. Reflecting a trend at The North Face to evolve and per-fect lightweight solutions for de-manding adventures, the Moun-tain Lite series soon followed in the late 1980s. In 1989, the
fleece Denali Jacket introduced zip-in compatibility with the Mountain Jacket. In 1997, the company adopted a new tag line: "Never Stop Exploring." It reinforced the spirit of adventure that would continue to guide The North Face. The "Athlete Tested" line also emerged that year, initiating an approach still in use today in which equipment and outerwear prototypes are sent out with athletes for rigor-ous, real-time field-testing.
Clothing Expansion Our country is once again facing this strong sense of environment with the need for
sustainability, hence why we are expanding our fall selection through Dick’s Sporting
Goods. With Dick’s 500+ US based locations, we are providing the US with our quali-
ty apparel and eco-awareness. The North Face’s mission is exploring more terrain,
increasing the line will increase our loyal customers’ exploratory interests.
