George Orwell – author of Animal Farm and 1984 Eric Arthur Blair is his real name. George Orwell

is his pseudonym. British author Animal Farm: Why did he write it? He saw a horse being whipped, he thought that

men exploit animals in much the same way as the rich exploit their workers.

He became interested in human nature and how revolutionary leaders can sometimes turn out to be worse than the people they overthrow.
