ENGLISH DAILY LESSON PLAN YEAR 2 Subject : English Language Class : Year 2 Competent Level : Weak Enrolment: /38 Date : 6 th February 2015 Theme : World of Self, Family and Friends Topic : Phonemic Awareness – ai, ee (textbook page 12) Focussed Skill : Reading Learning Standard : 1.1.1 Able to blend recognise and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in single syllable words within given context: a) (ai), (ee) 2.1.2 Able to blend phonemes into recognizable words and read them aloud. Learning Objectives : By the end of this lesson, pupils would be able to: 1. Pronounce the phonemes ‘ai’ and ‘ee’ correctly. 2. Paste the letters to construct the words with the ‘ai’ and ‘ee’ sounds in the blanks with guidance of the pictures correctly. Educational Emphases (EMK/CCE/EE) : Constructivism. Previous Knowledge : Pupils have been able to listen and respond to stimulus with guidance; oral blending and segmenting. Moral Values : Do the right thing. Teaching Materials : 1. PowerPoint presentation comprising of the words with the ‘ai’ and ‘ee’ sounds. 2. Flash cards comprising of ‘ai’ and ‘ee’ sounds for each group. 3. Pop Quiz

Run and Match.E.g: nail, tail, rain, snail, sweet, sheep, bee, feet

Emphasize the new phonemes learnt.1. Teacher shows the sweet to the pupils and asks anyone who like to eat sweet to stand up.2. Teacher asks the pupils to spell the word sweet and teacher writes the word on the board. 3. The pupils are lead into the lesson proper.

1. Teacher shows the PowerPoint presentation comprising of the words with the ai and ee sounds.2. Teacher explains to the pupils on how to pronounce each word and sound. 3. Teacher demonstrates the pronunciation loudly in the classroom. 4. Teacher asks the pupils to repeat after teachers reading and checks the pupils pronunciation.

1. Teacher divides the pupils into 6 groups of mixed ability pupils.2. Teacher gives proper instruction to the pupils before beginning the games. Teacher would display a picture and the omitted word at one time. The pupils need to choose either ai or ee as the correct answer to fill in the blanks.3. One of the pupils in the group show the flash card so as to show their groups answer. Each pupil in the group should at least hold the flash card once and to answer one question. 4. Teacher checks on the pupils answers and rewards the marks for the correct answers.

1. Teacher pastes the pictures of words with ai and ee sounds and the letters in each word on the board. 2. The pupils are asked to choose the letters on the board and to spell the word correctly by pasting the letters to each word correctly.3. The pupils can discuss the answers with their group members.4. Marks will be rewarded for each correct answer by the group.

1. Teacher wraps up the lesson by asking random groups to read the phonemes aloud. Teacher assigns 3 groups to say the phoneme ee and another 3 groups to say the phoneme ai loudly as teacher points later. Educational Emphases:
