After the success of its October preview and X-Mas Edition,

DesignCircus comes back with the February Edition. This

time, design combines the power of art. Five contemporary

artists lead within space colour and experiments with their

artworks. All around, creative, artisans, designers and

emerging brand expose the best of their production: lamps, vases, decorative items,

furniture, bags, jewels and bow ties for up-to-date dandies. Objects to touch, to buy

for yourself, for your house and your offi ce, for people

you love. For the third round of the event dedicated to

the best Italian self-production, 30 designers and small

producers - coordinated by Stefano Epis, creative,

and Laura Alberti, PR - tell the public their idea and

their interpretation of craft, showing objects made

with hands and heart. Once again, the objective of

DesignCircus is the realization of a unique event, which

gives the right space to all those designers who make

self-producing a new creative border. Since February,

this goal will be pursued even on-line. In addition to

the original catalogue/notebook made in collaboration

with our consolidated partner Arbos, DesignCircus

will realize and present its on-line version. In view

of the events planned during Expo, this will give all DesignCircus designers a

greater visibility on the global market. DesignCircus, once again honoured with the

patronage of the City of Milan, doesn’t stop here. During Expo 2015, two events linked

to the main themes of the event will happen. “Design for food”, in June, and “Green

Design”, in October, are the appointments to write down in your calendar. Even

DesignCircus commitment in favour of Panda Onlus, and its projects in support of

children, will continue. Each designer, during the February edition, will donate 10

euros to the association that helps mothers and children of our territory in need.

With the February Edition, in addition to the paper catalogue, thanks to the collaboration with PixelBook (company expert in the realization of multimedia applications for tablets and smartphones), DesignCircus will realize and present its interactive version. Written in Italian and English, it will be downloadable for free from AppStore and Google Play.

Founded in 2007, Alborno/Grils takes the name from its founders: Fabrizio, architect, and Ginvevra, designer. They intend to realize together objects with a marked plastic sensitivity, free from purely functional or aesthetic purposes. Essential structures, total recyclability, high resistance: they’re the main features of Vessel collection, a furniture line that plays to perfection the concept of dematerialization. Alborno/Grilz got many awards, from the winning of “Design Award & Competition 2013-2014” with Barbecue stool, to the selection for movies and TV series sets. Born in Milan in 1971, Stefano Antozzi gets into art since his childhood. In 1994 he graduated in stage design at Brera Academy of Fine Arts and the following year he won a scholarship for set and costume designers called by Teatro alla Scala. Here, in 1996, he exhibited for the fi rst time his accomplishments for the exhibition “Fragments of Scene”. His experience as a set designer teaches him to experiment with new sculptural materials and to use painting as best, insomuch as he decided to open a workshop of set design and interior decoration together with other professionals. However, Stefano Antozzi is above all an artist. His paintings have been exhibited in group exhibitions throughout Italy, from Milan to Florence. Born in 1964 in Magenta, Giovanni Speciale worked for several years in the building company of his family. Since he was a child, his passion, however, has as its object the two wheels, the ones of motorbikes and bikes. The theft of his beloved mountain bike, which accompanied him for 25 years, kicks off his “second life”. Closed in his warehouse, he builds by himself a new bike, entirely in wood. Within three months three models born: Firenze, Roma and Milano, to which Venezia and Verona are added today. All made of wood, all unique pieces with an unmistakable style. The fi rst prototypes are realized in collaboration with the architect Pierangelo Sciuto. Eclectic and across-the-board artist, Stefano Epis combines the passion for art with the profession of graphic designer. In his laboratory in Milan he gives life to “Ri-Tratto”, a joking, rational and irreverent way to bare your soul. The thin line between reality and fantasy is often crossed in his “Ri-Tratti”. A world where the typographic elements come together with great skill in a perfect balance of shapes, colours, backgrounds. Not only for ordinary people, attracted by a new idea, but also for interior designers struggling every day with increasingly demanding customers. In October 2013 was sold by Sotheby’s Auction one of his work, “Ri-tratto a Pinko Pallino”. (Prices from 300 Euros)[email protected] > +39 02.48007628 Via Frua 21/8 MILANO

Born in 1975, Simone Guazzetti has an innate creativity. When he was 25, he approached to the study of artists the likes of Bosch, Piranesi, Sironi, Dürer e Böcklin, whose visionary and surreal landscapes fascinated and infl uenced him. From 2000 to 2012 he develops a path as self-taught using different techniques, from pencil drawing to acrylic paintings and collage. In 2012 he held his fi rst vernissage in Desio (MB), followed by many exhibitions in Lombardy’s art galleries. With the intent to excite, Simone realizes landscapes full of poetry and a nostalgic hope thanks to the effect of chiaroscuro, to that pencil stretch trying to trace the technique of etching. They’re landscapes often dark and desolate from which, however, a life born. Simone exhibits his landscapes in art galleries all over Italy. Francesca Vizzari, owner of paintwork shop “Pistacchio & Caffè”, in the heart of Brescia, is the soul of Re-Write. Her pieces of wood, thanks to the precision of laser cutting, become poetic and direct decorative items. They’re letter which become words, words becoming phrases; the song of the heart, a symbol that reveals us. The fl avour of the wood, with its authenticity and its eco-friendly aim, assumes a 2.0 dimension. At DesignCircus, Francesca also presents original plate settings in collaboration with the product designer Chiara Valentini (www.chiara-valentini.it). TREE-BOOKS is a customizable and versatile modular bookcase signed by Zatoo Designstudio, alias Martina Zappettini and Valerio Tunesi. Both architects, they started to collaborate in the Nineties, creating urban and territorial architecture projects. TREE-BOOKS looks like a folded double plate “tree” from which protrude coloured shelves (made of folded steel sheets), to vary according to the requirements. Both sides of the structure are provided with cuts: in this way you do not have a front and a back, but equally visible and accessible faces. Here, the shape of the modular/serial structure meets the needing of man/organism. (Prices from 980 Euros) [email protected]> +39 348.7400690 (Valerio) + 39 238.0380034 (Martina)

WITH 120 KM OF AUTONOMY IN PREVIEW AT DESIGNCIRCUS

Two sisters, both architects, and a project: inScatola. A project that has as its protagonist a box, with its simple design and clean lines. In the middle, a photography. The result is a real decorative item, capable of fi lling with taste every corner and every wall of the house. Photo and frame are inseparable and complementary while maintaining their own, defi ned, identity. A small magnet starts the magic. It’s up to it to give the illusion that photography is suspended inside the box. A little ‘more to the right, a bit’ more to the left: the image is positioned as desired for always different effects. It’s the evolution of photo frame, it’s a design solution for your loved photo. In 2013, in Naples’ suburb, architects Giusi Castaldo and Gennaro Comunale founded Lu.Ze, a lab of self-produced design with waste material. Wood, mainly. The gap between design and implementation is reduced; the smell of wood, the equipment, the taste for useful and functionality have the best on purely formal and stylistic restrictions of design and architecture projects. Shape and function are in balance, as well as gravity and power, space and dimension. The know-how embraces traditional design culture in a laboratory in which “getting your hands dirty”.
