THE MODULAR 28 « FAIR »©The work-piece is a coffee table
consisting of a gigantic set of dominoes.
Its 28 independent modules allow for the
shaping and re-shaping of its space
infinitely.
Its unique combination of materials brings
the following into play : wood for theoriginal natural ; plastic for the modernityof an era ; white gold for theperpetually precious.
The entire process of production for THE
MODULAR 28 « FAIR » © is entirely
supervised by the artist and will be limited
to 8 editions.

GOLDSMITH
Each module is unique.
Shaped piece by piece, material after material,
hour after hour, day after day.
Rare know-hows express themselves !
For the cabinet-making, Beatrice Blanchard
called upon Olivier Dollé, the artisan-designer.
The artist then imposes her signature using her own
process, La Galuchette ©
The latter has been imagined and designed by
Béatrice Blanchard.
Drop by drop, one after the other tiredlessly over
each of the 28 individual modules, Beatrice
Blanchard creates the material that shall be
subsequently ennobled with the so precious
metal, white gold.
Each single millimeter counts and becomesexceptional.

MODULARModularity is the expression of infinity.
The infinite possibility to re-invent one’s space and to play with one’s imagination.Instead of remaining blocked, the idea is to get moving, to alternate, to change, to have fun. Thousands of possibilities
offer themselves.
THE MODULAR 28 « FAIR » © can become airy, massive, structured, unstructured, logical, illogical, sober, playful… Beatrice Blanchard will deliver and install THE MODULAR 28 « FAIR » © at the collector’s place and will propose a
creative dialogue leading to the inital installation. The artist’s work-piece is passed on to the individual who shall
transform it into his or hers. To make such a transfer possible, a second set of dominoes accompanies the original piece.
Created by the artist and as valuable as the main work, the set of 28 modules measuring 20 cm x 10cm x1.4 cm, will
make it possible later on for each one to sollicit the imagination before he/she will see it transposed into their own space.

INITIALS… BB 28
Béatrice Blanchard accompagnies The Modular 28 « Fair » © with a colourful and vibrant miniature version. Like a
photograph negative, the BB28 offers a playful and expressive reading of The Modular 28 « Fair » ©.The same materials
are used although their composition differs. The plastic takes centre stage: a vivid orange associated with precious
woods and white gold. The set is presented in a custom-made presentation case.

Awareness of art, Awareness of one’s art,Awareness of the scope of such art !
-Reflecting on the responsibility that a work bears as
one proceeds through the process of creation.
-Association of materials whose fragility is
contemporaneous : wood, source of life and a species
to be protected ; plastics, origin of debates
concerning the limits imposed on their impact ; precious
metals, exhaustible sources tucked away in the
environment from which they are subsequently
exploited.
The quest was long, disappointing at times, but also
successful on occasions.
The objective was to find more responsible materials :
wood grown from sustainably managed forests,
recyclable plastics and recycled gold, togethercombining to accompany the work into a new era of
creatvity, namely, that of « Fair » Design.
The way forward for Beatrice Blanchard is all butambiguous, when it comes down to continuing herpersonal quest and creative activity in the realm of« Fair » Design.

THE ARTIST
A graduate of the Faculté d’Arts Plastiques ,
Béatrice Blanchard has been working as an
Interior Decorator for more than twenty years. When dealing with space as a living environment,
she has always approached the work as a
challenge through which the experience of living
in it should become an Art and a pleasure
necessary to her well-being.
An expert in gold-leafing, she benefits from the
countless possibilities that such an art allows her
to explore.
Her concern for restructuring spaces in a
graphical manner, while never neglecting the
need for elegance and refinement, has led her
to establish a laboratory for research on newmaterials. Her desire is to take a new, morecontemporary look at the noble materials (Gold,
Silver, Palladium…)
With this new starting point, she proceeds to
transpose the materials to new supports andthen begins the design of objects.
THE MODULAR 28 « FAIR »@ is her first majorwork in this medium and marks the beginningof a new phase of responsible and creativeactivity for her.
