Grading Policy• Grade system–Major grades are 60% of six weeks’

average•May include vocabulary exams,

novel exams, essays, projects, writing process

–Daily grades are 40% of six weeks’ average•Quizzes, worksheets, participation

Areas of Study• Current Unit: Short Story and Literary Elements Review of literary terms. Expository writing.• Novels and Plays:• The Odyssey, Homer (textbook)• Hunger Games*, Suzanne Collins• Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare (textbook)• To Kill a Mockingbird*, Harper Lee*Students are encouraged to have their own copies of

asterisked books for annotating. Some also find it helpful to have a copy of Cliff’s Complete or Spark Notes’ No Fear Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet.
