The system will be operated for treatment with boththe filter unit and UV unit during ballasting andonly with the UV unit during de-ballasting.

Introduction GloEn-Patrol™ is a combined treatment system taking advantage of Filtration and UV irradiation, the most environmentally friendly and optimally designed solution for every kind of vessel to install and operate.

Adopting a 100% physical treatment technology, GloEn-Patrol™ effectively disinfects harmful aquatic organism and pathogen in ballast water without producing any toxic substance during ballasting and de-ballasting.

The filter unit not only eliminates organisms larger than 50㎛ but also helps to mini-mize sediment formation in the ballast tanks which is beneficial to ship’s operators in order to reduce the cost of maintenance and cleaning in the ballast tanks.

The filter as pre-treatment screens out sediments and organisms larger than 50㎛ then those smaller than 50㎛ will be disinfected by UV irradiation.

Simple

Filter Unit The ballast water enters through the inlet pipe into the filter and flows through the cylindrical filter ele-ment from inside out. The filtration cake accumulating on the element surface causes pressure difference to develop across the filter element. The back-flushing begins when the pre-set pressure difference between inlet and outlet on the filter is reached or pre-deter-mined lapse of time is met. During the back-flushing cycle, the filtering is not interrupted and continues to flow downstream of the filter in the normal manner.

UV Unit Using UV light to disinfect water is a proven technol-ogy. This safe and effective physical disinfectant is suit-able for both large and small applications. UV’s proven technology uses nothing but ultraviolet light to inac-tivate bacteria, viruses and other organisms that are present in the ballast water. The UV unit is easy to op-erate and needs no expensive and potentially hazard-ous chemicals.

UV light, which continues to be reliable means of dis-infection, involves exposing ballast water to irradia-tion from UV light. The treatment works properly be-cause UV light penetrates an organism’s cell walls and disrupts its genetic material, making reproduction im-possible. In addition, PANASIA’s GloEn-Patrol received ATEX certificate for explosion proof type so that the installation in hazardous area is possible.

Control Panel The monitoring & control panel is PLC (Programmable Logic Comtroller) based and configured to activate and deactivate UV lamps via UV power supply units in order to maintain the sufficient UV dose while con-serving power.

The monitoring & control panel offers a real time mon-itoring of the status of system operation while logging the data required by the convention at the same time.

UV Power Supply Panel The major function of UV Power Supply Panel is to op-erate the medium pressure lamps inside the UV cham-ber. It controls the intensity UV lamps with the capaci-tors mounted on the Panel. Also It detects whether the UV lamps are functioning properly or not.

The temperature sensors are mounted inside to moni-tor the temperature in order to give an alarm to an op-erator and shut down the system in case of emergency.

GloEn-Patrol™ is safe from producing flammable gas such as oxygen or hydrogen. For this reason GloEn-Patrol™ does not need vetilation, exhaust, and also gas detection system.

GloEn-Patrol™ does not produce any corrosive by-prod-ucts, such as TRO(Total Residual Oxydants) and acidic com-pounds. It should be also noted that the ORP(Oxidation-Reduction Potential) value of “Treated Water” is almost the same as that of “Pre treated water”. In addition, the value of TRO was not observed after treatment, which support that the GloEn-Patrol™ Ballast system is free of corrosion risk.

Filtration and UV technologies are well known in water treating industry of the land. It is often used in sewage treatment, and swimming pools. For these reasons, GloEn-Patrol™ adopted Filtration and UV technologies which will give you many tangible and intangible benefits.
