Included in this siddur or worship service book is a guide of recommended prayers, a recommended order of these prayers, and a recommended method to conduct a general service for your group. By no means is this guide is fiat and you may adjust it to tailor to the needs of your immediate small group as you see fit. Peace be upon you and the brethren of believers within your group. PRAYER OVER THE SOUNDING OF THE SHOFAR

(Optional- Prayer comes from Rabbinical origin)

*Shofar is sounded after prayers are recited.

PRAYER OVER THE LIGHTING OF THE SHABBAT CANDLES

(Optional. Prayer comes from Rabbinical origin)

*Candles prepared prior to the Small Group service are lit.

BIRKAT HAMOTZI (Blessing of the Bread)

*Two loaves of challah bread or unleavened matzos prepared are broken, passed out to participants, and are eaten with thanksgiving.

BIRKAT HABORE (Blessing of the Fruit of the Vine)

*Yayin passed out to participates prior to prayer is then consumed with thanksgiving.

BIRKAT HAMEZANOT (Blessing over Various Kinds of Food)

*Food prepared prior to service is served and all eat to their fill with thanksgiving.

THE SHEMA

Matthew 22:35-40

“And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And Yeshua said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Deuteronomy 6:5-9

“And you shall love the (Adonai/YHVH/El Shaddai) your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These commandments that I give you today are to be written upon your hearts. Teach them thoroughly to your children, talk about them about them when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

BLESSING OVER THE MEN

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.

Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers!

But his delight is in the Torah of (Adonai/YHVH), and in His Torah he meditates day and night.

And he will be like a tree firmly planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. Amen.

BLESSING OVER THE WOMEN

An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.

She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her saying:

“Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.”

A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Amen.

BLESSINGS OVER THE CHILDREN

For the sons:

May the Lord make you like Ephraim and Manasseh, who received the blessing from their grandfather, Jacob, and who led lives honoring to (Adonai/YHVH). May He also make you like Andrew and Peter, the first brothers to leave all behind and follow Yeshua as the promised Messiah. May you trust (Adonai/YHVH) all the days of your life and be ready for Him to use you in great ways even now. Amen

For the daughters:

May the Lord make you like Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah, who were women of faith who endured hardship, showed courage, loved their husbands, and were loyal to (Adonai/YHVH). May He also make you like Priscilla, an able teacher of His Word, and like Mary and Johanna who ministered to Yeshua. May you trust (Adonai/YHVH) all the days of your life and be ready for Him to use you in great ways even now. Amen

VESHAMRU

Veshamroo v’ney Yisraeel et HaShabbat,

La’asot et HaShabbat l’dorotam b’rit olam.

Baynee oovayn b’nay Yisrael ot hi le’olam.

Kee sheshet yameem asah (Adonai/YHVH) et hashamayeem ve’et ha’aretz,

Oova’yom hashavee-ee shavat vayeenafash.

And the children of Israel shall guard the Sabbath,

To observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.

Between Me and the children of Israel it is a sign forever.

For in six days (Adonai/YHVH) made the heavens and the earth,

And on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.

Exodus 31:16-17

“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”

MOURNER’S KADDISH

Yitgadal v’yitkadash sh’mei raba b’alma di-v’ra chirutei, v’yamlich malchutei b’chayeichon uvyomeichon uvchayei d’chol beit yisrael, ba’agala uvizman kariv, v’im’ru amen.

Y’hei sh’mei raba m’varach l’alam ul’almei almaya. Yitbarach v’yishtabach, v’yitpa’ar v’yitromam v’yitnaseh, v’yithadar v’yit’aleh v’yit’halal sh’mei d’kud’sha, b’rich hu, l’eila min-kol-birchata v’shirata, tushb’chata v’nechemata da’amiran b’alma, v’im’ru amen.

Numbers 6:22-27
