Why the change?
Educated specifiers want products that meet acoustical requirements for classrooms [ANSI standard] and HIPAA requirements in healthcare
The higher the acoustical values the better – NRC, AC, and CAC
USG Eclipse has an NRC 0.70
Key Performance Driver: Acoustics
The following items now have an NRC of 0.70 [will be indicated on cartons with suffix changes]:
1. 533 Cirrus Square Lay-in 24” x 48” x ¾”
2. 574 Cirrus Square Lay-in 24” x 24” x ¾”
3. 584 Cirrus Angled Tegular 24” x 24” x ¾”
4. 589 Cirrus Beveled Tegular 24” x 24” x ¾”
Most ‘decorative’ Cirrus products now have an NRC of 0.65 [Borders, Classic Motifs, Profiles, Second Look, and Themes]. There are no suffix changes on these items. For a complete listing by item, please refer to your Customer Bulletin].
Cirrus Families – All Higher NRC Values!
What specific products are affected?
Are there visual or texture changes?
Just like today, Cirrus from Beaver Falls and Pensacola cannot be mixed in the same room, but can be installed on the same job.
Existing production of #533, 574, 584, and 589 from Pensacola cannot be mixed in the same room with new production. Material from Beaver Falls is generic, which means there is no visual change from the former NRC 0.60 material.
New production will carry suffix changes. “DO NOT MIX” labels will appear on material from Pensacola only.
The texture change is minimal, and has been validated by five project installations prior to launch.
Cirrus Products are Not Room Mixable
Are there visual or texture changes?
“DO NOT MIX” Labels on Cirrus Items – Pensacola
1. Indicate when “new” production started.
2. Will be placed on cartons for four months [September – December].
3. After December, will indicate that material shipping after this four month period, and manufactured after September 20, can be mixed on the same job. 4. Placed ONLY on items 533,
574, 584, and 589 from Pensacola.
5. Suffixes will now be: #584BBF/589BBF or #584B/589B [Pensacola]
DO NOT MIXUse ONLY with material bearing this label OR with ceilings manufactured
AFTER September 20, 2004.
Key Dates for Transition
New Products Available For Order in October
Key dates and activities:
1. Announcement of changes August 23.
2. Last day to order “old” items is September 15.
3. First day for orders of “new” Cirrus high NRC items is October 4.
4. CFC will work with you to manage existing orders.
Samples and Literature
Key Data Pages, Samples, and Stickers Cirrus lay-in and tegular data pages available August 20.
CS-3584 “Now! With Improved Acoustics” stickers will be applied to existing inventory of Cirrus samples for those items with improved acoustical values.
Existing inventory of data pages for Cirrus Borders, Classic Motifs, Profiles, Second Look, and Themes will be depleted before reprinting. If it is important to have new acoustical values represented on these products, additional stickers – item CS-3584 – are available from the Armstrong CFC or Genco.

Pricing Changes
No increase to Cirrus NRC 0.70 products as a result of acoustical enhancements.
