Hydropower for Provincial Development • ONE large project of ~500 MW in every province

• 500MW ( ~2500Gwh ) project to adds 1% GDP

growth to Nepalese economy

• Each prov. to earn Rs. 30 bil. gross income annually.

• 5.4 Million - kitchens in Nepal. 1 KW electricity Consumption per Family : 3,000 MW possible to replace present gas import of about 50 Billion NRs. Ready Domestic market for 3000 MW.

• More domestic generation to replace NRs25 Billion

import of electricity from India.

• Kathmandu-Birjung Railway to replace 20,000

Trucks and Buses : Save over 100 B NRs worth of

Fuel and logistic cost. Consume more within Nepal

Finance and Planning Scheme

• Project development : Jointly by the Provincial & Central Government.

• Licenses : Approvals & Clearances : Cabinet decision within a Year.

• Finance : Long term soft loan ~ 2.5 Billion USD for each project.

• Funding Agencies : World Bank, ADB, AIIB, India Exim Bank, China Exim Bank,

JICA japan ; For each Project

• Expected Result: Import to reduce by NRs. 200 BIllion, new employment to

be generated, Central and Provincial Government relation to improve,

Provincial Government to have 20 Billion NRs a year for development.
