a little bit older Joan went back to work part timeat a Restaurant. She said she never really enjoyedit there, so she was very happy when her husbandRon and his Brother Walt asked her to help in theoffice of their building company.
Sometime around 1975 Joan and her husbandbought the Maple Hill Golf course in Wyoming,Michigan. It was at that time that they moved toGrand Rapids along with their 2 adult children.Their son Richard managed the golf course andJoan’s husband Ron did all the building of the proshop.
Joan worked many hours in the office at thegolf course and really enjoyed the time she got tospend on the golf course! And she also had to bragthat she got 3 holes in ones!
Joan and her late husband also own a 2nd golfcourse, in the Bahama’s, along with Ron’s Broth-er Walt. Joan and her husband would often go onworking vacations and help out. Joan says Ronwould work and she would spend her day soak-ing up the sun and enjoying the pool.
Joan says that neithershe nor her husband ever re-ally retired but they lovedtending to the Golf courseand spending their timethere so it was well worth allof the hard work they put in.
Joan now has 6 grand-children and 9 great grand-children. She really enjoyswatching all of them in theirsporting events and justspending time with her fam-ily. Joan enjoys coming toBingo and meeting new andold friends here at Railside.
Thank You Joan for shar-ing a little bit about your lifewith all of us here at Railside.
