INTEGRATION WITH MODELING
SOFTWARESPROBLEMS
PLM solution softwaresnot easily integrate able with CAD softwareswith CAD softwares
 Different softwares usage created problems
Difficulties for Engineering based product design
 E.g. A-380 delay
9
INTEGRATION WITH MODELING
SOFTWARESSOLUTION
Easily integrated with CATIA, SOLID EDGE ETCETC
Allows easy check in and check out from CATIA directly
 Saves time
Files are directly opened in CATIA
10
INTEGRATION WITH MODELING
SOFTWARES Promotes
standardization
Also integrate able with MS officeMS office
So it provides a one click solution to PLM problem

EDITORIAL OPTIONSProblems
Product manager (editor) has little control over the security of database.
No or little control over the level of access given to No or little control over the level of access given to different actors.
Under qualified personnel might make changes in the design.
E.g. a junior analyst might work on and change a vital part.
12
EDITORIAL OPTIONSSolution

PROGRAM MANAGEMENTProblems
One of the most difficult parts of production process
 Multiple projects Multiple projects
 Misinformation can cause serious errors
High cost associated with manual PM.
 Low program development efficiency
 Low rate of production
15
PROGRAM MANAGEMENTSOLUTION
 Multiple projects
 Timelines and tasks
Resource management Resource management
 Bottlenecks identified and remove
Tracking and monitoring of multiple concurrent projects
16
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Provides information using various charts like Gantt
charts etc.
 Helps in decision making
Allows us to use existing project knowledge and Allows us to use existing project knowledge and database
Provides project update like Draft, Initiated, In Work, Completed, Approved, On Hold, Canceled.
17
EXAMPLE
18
BOM (BILL OF MATERIAL)
MANAGEMENTPROBLEMS
Non availability of BOM at any specific time
 Over stocking
Under stocking Under stocking
 Difficulty in decision making
19
BOM (BILL OF MATERIAL)
MANAGEMENT A bill is generated at the
completion of each part. Shows the maturity of product
at any given time which ensures appropriate stocking
Accelerates production process Accelerates production process Saves time and reduces errors Allows comparison of BOM of
two parts Shares information with
suppliers Ensures up to date collaboration
with suppliers

BOM (BILL OF MATERIAL)
MANAGEMENT
21
MULTI-SITEProblem
Managing data at several remote sites simultaneously, without compromising data compromising data integrity
 Secure data transfer
Need to transfer large chunks of data, but the connection is too slow, especially when large CAD assemblies are involved
22
MULTI-SITE Need to have
information available and accessible all the time, but the WAN time, but the WAN connection is highly unreliable
Users find themselves unable to work when the connection between sites fails
23
MULTI-SITESolution
provides us Safe product data management solution solution
Maintains Database Data integrity by using Oracle Replication functionality
Maintains Vault Data integrity by using RepliWeb functionality
24
MULTI-SITE Periodic DB synchronization which ensures that all
sites are identical
Object ownership mechanism within the data modelmodel
 Password encryption
 Data transfer encryption
 Allows multi tasking
 Faster data transfer
Allows working even when the system is down
25
MULTI-SITE Periodic file & meta-data
replication
Lifecycle permitted on local sitelocal site
Users can view files from a remote site
Lifecycle on object from a remote site is permitted if given ownership
26
MULTI-SITE All objects owned by the
site can be freely used
Users can view or copy only those objects that only those objects that are not owned by their site
Replication will update remote sites with changes after connection is re-established
27
COMMUNITY WORKSPACEPROBLEM
Customers are integral part of production cycle.
 Customer feedback
 Involving customers in product development
 Limited access to customers
Feedback needed to reduce cost of changes
28
COMMUNITY WORKSPACESOLUTION
Allows Project-oriented, product information sharing across the supply chain
No compromise on technical inegrity No compromise on technical inegrity
 Viewer option
 Through e-mail
 Link provided on SMARTEAM
Creates organized database regarding customer feedback
29
COMMUNITY WORKSPACE Publishes data from
SMARTEAM which then generates an e-mail invitation
Receives e-mail invitation Receives e-mail invitation
 Accesses community folder from invitation
 Makes changes in the product
 Reviews changes
 The process continues
30
WORK FLOWPROBLEMS
Production processes are usually linked to each other
Usually processes are interlinked with one another
Delay in one process might cause delay in another Delay in one process might cause delay in another
The workers are often unaware of the previous and following process
Work flow is difficult to analyze and change
31
WORKFLOWSolution
Provides easy to use flow chart graphical designer
Provides alternative work Provides alternative work path
 Tracks the workflow
 System alerts for work delay
Provides worker with information on forthcoming processes.
