To the ENPS Community,
It is with deep regret that I must inform the East Narrogin Primary School community that I will be leaving the position of Principal as of this Friday due to personal reasons. Unfortunately circumstances dictate where life takes you and this is one of those times.
Ms Elisebeth Webster will commence in the Principal’s role next Monday, 17 August 2015. Elisebeth has worked as Principal at Newdegate Primary School for many years and comes with a wealth of experience. Elisebeth will visit the school tomorrow for a handover meeting.
I sincerely thank the ENPS staff, students and community members that I have met in my short time here. There are many amazing people at this school who do many amazing things. There are many committed individuals who work at ENPS that have incredible skills and talents and I commend these staff members. ENPS is very fortunate to have you here. The students are hard-working, well-mannered and exuberant and are a credit to the East Narrogin community. I have also met many dedicated parents and community members who foster responsibility, care and enthusiasm into their children.
I wish you all the best in the future and hope ENPS continues to flourish.
The school has an assembly this Friday that is being hosted by our Pre-Primary class and I urge parents to attend. It should be fantastic. I also would like to wish our State Cross Country participants all the best on Friday as they take on the best.
Kind Regards,
Nolan O’Rourke, Principal

From the Deputies
Lion King Performance in 2016 Our school has the exciting opportunity for 18 of our students to travel to Perth and see the Lion King Musical at the Crown Theatre on Wednesday 24 February 2016. Student tickets are $65 and the cost of the bus will be at least $20. As numbers are limited we would like to offer this opportunity from the 2015 Year groups of PP, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 to complete an expression of interest form. This has been sent home with your child. The student name will then go into a raffle and 18 names (as well as two reserves) will be selected to attend this wonderful event. The raffle will be drawn Monday 24 August, during Book Week, in week 6. Payment for this excursion by the selected students will then be expected by the end of Term 3. NAIDOC Assembly Last Wednesday 5 August students in Years 1 – 6 attended the NAIDOC assembly at the Narrogin Senior High School. Congratulations to Room 7 for their wonderful presentation on their welcome song ―Wanjoo.‖ Joanna Hayes & Johan Van Wyk Deputy Principals
Nutrition and breastfeeding Having a new baby is an exciting but busy time! Mums must remember to look after themselves as well as their babies. Did you know that what you eat can affect your milk supply when breastfeeding? In fact, it can affect not only how much milk you are producing but also the quality of it too. Try to remember to eat a wide variety of foods from the five food groups, limit your intake of processed foods and foods high in added sugar and fat, and drink plenty of water. Mums that are breastfeeding should be eating more than they were when pregnant. In most cases all you need to do is add an extra snack to your day. Try one of these healthy snacks to get you started:
Yoghurt
Fruit toast
Fruit – fresh, tinned in natural juice, dried
Nuts
Home-made fruit smoothies
Vegetables sticks or crackers with salsa, hummus,
cottage cheese, or tzatziki dip Plan ahead so there are always healthy meals and snack choices in the house and always keep a water bottle with you throughout the day- you need to drink about 9 cups of water a day while you are breastfeeding. New and expecting mums can now access a range of excellent resources to assist them with knowing what to eat while they are breastfeeding. To gain a copy of the resources, contact your child health nurse or phone your local Primary Health Service on 98810385.

Round 18
Well no one gets a
point for the tied
game, and only a few
people seriously
expected Hawks to
lose, so highest was 7
from Claire
Racevskis. Random!
Tsch!
Round 19
Well Dougall, who
loves to tip against
West Coast, forgot to
put her tips in when
they actually lost! Too
funny! I wonder if
she’ll forget to tip the
derby as well?
It looks like Emily
Jones is going full
force for the booby
prize this year - being
one of the few to tip
Adelaide over the
Tigers, and for a
margin of...what!?
957 points! Someone
really should tell her
she’s not eligible for
the booby prize
because she missed
her tips in Round 7.
Round 18
She picked them at
random! Random!
Racevskis Family
So...what are we now? 4 rounds left? Still $40
plus a whole lot of money at the top waiting to
be claimed! Hang in there people!
Round 19
All but Richmond, and
8 points away.

Canteen News Thank you to Ebony Rogers our only helper this fortnight.
Please support the canteen so we can keep running five days a week.
In the next newsletter we will have a sports menu for both our faction carnival and the interschool carnival. Uniforms Faction polo shirts should be here just in time for our faction carnival. If you have paid for your shirt we will deliver them to your child as soon as they arrive. Ros, Jo, Lorraine — Canteen Managers
From the Canteen
From Phys. Ed.
Students are busy practising their athletics skills in preparation for the Carnival on Thursday 3 September and Friday 4 September. Due to wet weather we have missed the last two Friday sports sessions so may need to make these up in the next 2 weeks on another day!
A reminder to students to wear joggers/sports shoes for Physical Education and Sport classes on Thursdays and Fridays. Boots, sandals, thongs, crocs etc are not safe or appropriate for physical activity.
Don’t forget to wear your faction shirts to school every Friday, they look fantastic when you are out practising your sport.
On Wednesday 29 August the Years 3—6 students participated in a golf clinic run by Matt from Golf WA. They learnt how to hit a ball with a golf club and aim at a target. The students enjoyed themselves and I noticed we have some talented golfers in the making at ENPS!
Some of our students will be competing in the Champion Schools Cross Country running next Friday in Perth. We wish them well as they represent the school – as they say run like the wind!
In Week 5 and 6 we look forward to Rodney Johnson, the Smarter than Smoking Hockey Development Officer running some hockey classes for our students during PE classes. Christine Pettit, Physical Education Teacher

ENPS P&C and ITalkTravel Narrogin
The ENPS P&C have aligned with ITalkTravel on Fortune St Narrogin to help raise funds for the P&C and also keep business local when booking your next travel expedition be it a large overseas trip or a simple overnight stay in Perth, Albany, Bunbury etc.
It’s simple, ITalkTravel will donate $200 to the P&C in return for the P&C advertising their association with ITalkTravel and getting school and community members to "Like" ITalkTravel on Facebook and also subscribe to their online newsletter.
ITalkTravel will also donate a percentage of any booking made through the ITalkTravel website or directly in store with their travel agents when you (the customer) mention East Narrogin Primary School P&C. It is hoped that, through our broader network of family and friends all utilising the services of ITalkTravel when making any travel bookings the P&C will establish a "royalties" type passive income source.
This is a WIN WIN system for all involved so please get on board and support ENPS P&C through supporting ITalkTravel a locally owned and staffed company who also have branches in North Perth & Kojonup.
