Here are some common party types you may encounter when adding parties.

Individual NamesGeorge Smith

To enter individual names, enter the last name, first name, and middle name if applicable, in the corresponding fields. If your party has a hyphenated last name, enter both last names including the hyphen, in the last name field.

The individual may have a nickname or alias.

To add, click on "Alias" on the Participant Tree.

Businesses or Websites

Enter the full name in the Last Name field.

Do not use First Name or Middle Name fields.

For Businesses or Websites, enter the full name in the Last Name field. Do not use First Name or Middle Name fields. 5

BusinessesDrop small words such as The or A that precede thename of the business. Example: The Boeing Company = Boeing Company

For businesses, drop small words such as "the" or "a" that precede the name of the business.

For example 'The Boeing Company' would be entered as "Boeing Company". 6WebsitesWebsites are entered including the www preceding the name of the site.

Example: www.followdirections.com

For websites, enter the name of the site including the www preceding it.7Government AgenciesExample: State of WashingtonType Washington State in the Last Name field.

Example: Solid Waste Division of King CountyType King County Solid Waste Division in the Last Name field.

For Government agencies, enter the agency name similar to other business names, leaving out the words "the" or "a" in the name.8UnionsExamples: International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 & 612.

Example: Local 302 & 612 International Union of Operating Engineers.

For Unions, enter the official union name as captioned on the Complaint. The word Local may appear at the beginning or the end of the name.

Union TrusteesUnion trustees should not be entered as parties, but listed in the Party Textbox on the Party Information screen when adding the Union.

10Real PropertyExample: 1234 Byrd Drive Seattle WA.Type: 1234 Byrd Drive Seattle WA in the Last Name field.NOTE: Do not use punctuation, such as commas or periods, in this field.

Type Real Property in the Party Text field on the Party Information screen.

For Real Property, type the address of the property in the last name field.

Describe the property further in the Party Text field. 11

JewelryExample: One mens gold band diamond ring.Type Diamond ring in the Last Name field.

Type Mens gold band in the Party Text field on the Party Information screen.

For jewelry, enter by the object name such as diamond ring. Then add the description in the Party Text field as shown here. 12

Bank AccountsExample: Bank of America Account #4321 in the name of XYZ. Enter "Bank of America Account #4321 in the Last Name field.

Enter "in the name of XYZ" in the Party Text field.

(NOTE: Review Local Civil Rule 5.2 regarding redaction of bank account numbers and other important information.)

For bank accounts, enter only the last 4 digits of the bank account number.

Enter the name of the bank and the account number in the last name field. Describe the account further in Party Text on the party information screen.

Review Local Civil Rule 5.2 regarding redaction of bank account numbers and other important information. 13Vehicles Example: A red 1998 Chevrolet Camaro bearing WA plate 123ABC: Type Chevrolet Camaro 1998 in the Last Name field and click Search.

Type Red, WA license plate 123ABC in the Party Text field.

For Vehicles, enter the make, model and year in the last name field. Descriptive text, such as color or license number, are entered in the party text field. 14

VesselsExample: M/V Happy Halibut, Official No. 54321. Type Happy Halibut M/V in the Last Name field.

Enter Official No 54321 in the Party Text field.

For Vessels, enter the name of the vessel and its designation, such as M/V (for merchant vessel).

Enter additional information about the vessel in the party text field on the party information screen. 15

EstatesEnter the executor or personal representative as the main party. Enter the deceased as an alias to the party, using the alias type est. (estate of).Example: Donna Happy as Personal Representative of the Estate of Seldom Happy.

Step #1. Add 'Donna Happy':Type Happy in the Last Name field, Donna in the First Name field. Click Search.

For Estates of deceased persons, enter the executor or personal representative as the main party.

Enter the name of the decedent using the Alias selection on the party text screen. 16Step #2: On the Party Information screen:Designate the role for the main party Donna Happy. Type "personal representative" in the Party Text field.Click "Add Party."

Plaintiff Donna Happy is now added to the Participant Tree in the left pane. Proceed to Step #3: Add Estate of Seldom Happy.

Click the Add Alias icon from the tree.

Search for Seldom Happy by typing Happy in the Last Name field.

If no matches are found, click Create New Alias.

19Under Alias Information, Enter Seldom in the First Name field.Select est as the Alias type and Click Add Alias.

Seldom Happy is added as an alias on the participant tree.
