Our journey in the VENN
Project
The VENN Project
• January 2012: Met with colleagues at City College, first met each other and chatted for a few hours about our own environmental work
• Between January and November: Kept in touch via e-mail and social networking
• November 2012: Worked together over three days as part of the VENN project
• April 2013: Trip to Norway in April to present at Norwegian conference!
The VENN Project
The VENN project is a Comenius Regio Project which has identified ways in which the two partner local authorities (Norfolk and Aust-Agder in Norway) can work with schools and colleges so that their outdoor learning/learning beyond the classroom provides the basis for enhanced educational achievement, a more sustainable school and personal behaviour change in response to climate change education.
What’s needed in the future?•Support and encouragement to develop young people’s confidence in their eco skills•Opportunities to take this work into businesses and other schools•The appropriate support for business start-ups in the area of young eco-consultancy•The development of networks and communications to link like-minded individuals and businesses

Always been interested in the
environment. Finally found an
organisation (Nature and Youth) that could help me work with this area
even more.
After a month, I got a phonecall from the
regional secretary and she asked me if I
wanted to form a local group.

Running the local group
In Fall 2012, we had the yearly meeting at Nature and Youth where I was
chosen to be the regional leader in Aust-Agder. This means I am now also on
the National Board.
I had never led anything like this before and so I found it quite
scary, but after a while I learnt from the people around me and from going
to different meetings and
camps.
Voted in to become regional leader of
Nature and Youth in Aust-Agder
Saving LoVeSe (an area in
Norway) from oil rigging
Nature and Youth, with help from other
organisations, influenced the politicians to not open
the area in Northern Norway for the extracting oil. This is an issue we still
fight today as they only delayed this for 4 years. As I am interested in finding
other resources to oil, this is an important fight in the
right direction regarding renewable energy.
In February 2011, I got a phonecall from Aust-Agder
Council asking me to attend the first
VENN (Vital Education Norway Norfolk) meeting.
I met with key partners to set the goals of the
project.
