Qualifying For and Entering the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship

QUALIFYING DATES FOR AKC/EUKANUBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP:• October 13, 2010 to October 11, 2011.

Two Year Qualifications (BBE, BBE/Puppy, AOH, AOH/Puppy and International Qualifiers)October 8, 2009 to October 11, 2011.

Entries Close: Wednesday, November 16, 2011AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERSDogs automatically qualify for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship by meeting anyone of the following criteria:• Dogs ranked in the top 25 of their breed (by breed points only) at the end of the

qualifying period (1 Year).• Dogs receiving an all-breed Best in Show at an AKC show held during the qualifying

period (1 Year).• Dogs winning Best of Breed at a parent club national specialty* (1 Year).

* In the event a parent club holds more than one national during the qualifying period, the club will designatewhich show will “count” as the national specialty for AKC/Eukanuba National Championship purpose.

• Dogs completing their Grand Championship during the current qualifying period (1 Year).• Dogs completing a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Grand Champion Level in the quali-

fying period (1 Year).• Dogs completing their championship with all points earned from the Bred-By-

Exhibitor Class (2 Years).• Dogs earning their championship with all points earned from the Amateur Owner

Handler Class (2 Years).• Breeder Owner Handled Puppy

Dogs earning their championship during the qualifying period with all of their pointsearned as Breeder/Owner handled originating from Puppy and BBE class may be eligi-ble for an invitation. All of the points do not have to be earned during the qualifyingperiod, but the championship does.

• Amateur Owner Handled PuppyDogs earning their championship during the qualifying period with all of their pointsearned as Amateur/Owner handled originating from Puppy and/or Amateur OwnerHandler class may be eligible for an invitation. All of the points do not have to beearned during the qualifying period, but the championship does.

• Miscellaneous Breeds who have won a CM (Certificate of Merit) or at least 3 Best ofBreeds, WITH COMPETITION or One (1) Best in Miscellaneous Class WITH COMPETITIONduring the current qualifying period will automatically receive an invitation.

• Unaltered dogs that will be 7 years of age or older on the first day of the event andare eligible to compete via the Veterans eligibility rules noted.

• The seven top breed winning dogs from over 60 International Registries and the Bestof Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed winners from Crufts (2 Years).

The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is a specialevent, held to showcase the AKC breeders. Some of theprocedural and competitive aspects of this event maynot conform exactly to the Rules Applying to DogShows.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

NEW: Eligibility for “Veterans” Seven years and older.We are pleased to announce that we have added a new eligibility to the Veterans whohave made a mark during their career. While the event can not offer a separate competi-tion due to time constraints we will be sending invitations to any dog over seven yearson the day of the show to compete for Best of Breed and if eligible for the Best Bred-By-Exhibitor Award. A dog will need to meet one of the following criteria:

• Winner of an All Breed Best in Show• Winner of a National Specialty• Ranked in the Top five in Breed any given year.

Thank you to all those who contacted us to include these past winners and we look for-ward to seeing some of these great dogs shine in the AKC/Eukanuba NationalChampionship for many years to come.***Please note: These Veterans must be “intact” since they might advance to compete inGroup and Best in Show competition. Spayed or Neutered dogs will not be eligible toenter.

Best Bred-by-Exhibitor in Breed, Bred-by-ExhibitorGroups and Best Bred-by-Exhibitor in Show

BEST BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR CRITERIA• To be eligible for Bred-by-Exhibitor the appropriate box on the entry form must be

checked

• Every dog entered at this event is eligible for the Best Bred-By-Exhibitor Competition,if the entry is shown by a breeder-owner of record.

• All dogs in competition for Best Bred-by-Exhibitor, except International entries,must be individually registered with the American Kennel Club

• All dogs in competition for Best Bred-by-Exhibitor must compete in Best ofBreed

• Dogs in competition for Best Bred-by-Exhibitor must be handled throughout theentire breed competition by a breeder/owner of record

• No handler change will be permitted for the purpose of becoming eligible for theBest Bred-by-Exhibitor competition

• Dogs competing in the Best Bred-by-Exhibitor Groups and Best Bred-by-Exhibitor inShow must be handled by a breeder/owner of record

Eukanuba World Challenge• The American Kennel Club® is pleased to announce that it will host the 5th Annual

Eukanuba World Challenge in conjunction with the AKC/Eukanuba NationalChampionship in Orlando, Florida on December 17 & 18, 2011. This exciting interna-tional competition is the only event of its kind.

• The competitors in the Eukanuba World Challenge will be divided into four sections:

Section I: Judge: Mrs. Barbara Müller (Bauma, Switzerland)

Section II: Judge: Mr. C. V. Sudarsan (Shenoy Nagar-Chennai, India)

Section III: Judge: Mrs. Zena Thorn-Andrews (Worcester, UK)

Section IV: Judge: Dr. Tamas Jakkel (Budapest, Hungary)

Three dogs will be selected from each of these four sections to compete in theEukanuba World Challenge finals

EUKANUBA WORLD CHALLENGE CHAMPION JUDGE SR. ENRIQUE FILIPPINIThe winner will be awarded the title of “Eukanuba World Challenge Champion”

AKC/EUKANUBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 11

AKC Junior Handler Numbers are now required for entry in Junior ShowmanshipCompetition. Numbers may be obtained from The American Kennel Club, (919) 233-9767.

Juniors may enter this competition if they meet these requirements for an invita-tion:1 Juniors must have 5 wins in an Open Junior Showmanship Class, with competition

present. Wins must be earned between October 13, 2010 & October 11, 2011.2 Juniors must be under 18 years of age at the time of the wins. Age on the day of

the show has no bearing.3 Juniors must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or equivalent for the two

semesters or grading periods completed immediately prior to the closing ofentries. GPA must be verified by an official school transcript. Transcripts must besubmitted by October 25, 2011 to: Mari-Beth O’Neill, AKC, 8051 Arco CorporateDr., Suite 100, Raleigh NC 27617-3390.

The AKC–Eukanuba National Championship will again offer the largest cash prizes in dog show his-tory. More than $225,000 will be awarded to the winners of the show to be held in Orlando, FL.The prize money is thanks to Eukanuba Dog Foods. A form must be completed for all cash awards.Forms for all Bred-By-Exhibitor awards must be completed in the name of the breeder. In case ofmultiple breeders, it must be the first breeder indicated on the entry form. All other forms must becompleted in the name of the owner. Breeder of the Year AwardThe American Kennel Club began its annual program to award and recognize breeders of purebred dogs at the2002 AKC/Eukanuba National Invitational Championship. The love of dogs and the commitment to preserve,protect and improve a chosen breed represent the very essence of AKC and the basis for the sport of purebreddogs. The American Kennel Club Breeder of the Year Award will be bestowed on individuals who best exemplifythese time-honored ideals and will recognize people who have dedicated their lives to improving the health,temperament and longevity of purebred dogs.Recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony during Group Judging on Sunday.Breeder of the Year Trophy - A sterling silver loving cup to be permanently displayed at the Offices of TheAmerican Kennel Club, with the recipient’s name engraved on a plate on the wooden base. The winner of theBreeder of the Year will receive a 10 inch Sterling Chippendale Tray engraved with their name. Additionally, acanine portraitist is commissioned to commemorate a prominent dog from the recipient’s kennel.Awards will be presented to one honoree in each of the seven groups.In addition the Breeder of the Year and one honoree in each of the seven groups will have their name(s),Kennel name and breed added to the “Breeders of the Year” plaque which is on permanent display at the AKC.

ACE AwardsThere will be a presentation ceremony honoring the recipients of the 2011 AKC Awards for Canine Excellenceduring Group Judging on Saturday. The honorees will receive engraved silver collar medallions and a $1,000cash award.

All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged orwhen in the exercising ring.

Class Cash Prizes: A form must be completed for all cash awards. Forms for all Bred-By-ExhibitorAwards must be completed in the name of the breeder. In case of multiple breeders, it must be thefirst breeder indicated on the entry form. All other forms must be completed in the name of theowner. In case of multiple owners, it must be the first owner indicated on the entry form. Checkswill be issued by Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, L.L.C. All cash prizes must be claimed by April 15, 2012.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL EXHIBITORSClean-Up Is Your Responsibility at all Events and at any Hotel Property

Pooper scoopers will be placed at all x-pens, and clean-up personnel will be around the groundsand near all rings. If your dog soils the parking lot, show grounds or hotel property, it is yourresponsibility to clean up after it. By signing the entry form at these shows you are agreeing thatall clean-up is your responsibility. Violators may be subject to an event committee hearing.Exhibitors, The entire Convention Center and the hotels have 24 hour security cameras on theirgrounds. Anyone found to violate these premises without cleaning up will be subject to discipli-nary measures that could result in suspension and the withholding of awards. Thank you.

No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of anytent in which this dog show is conducted. NO motorized vehicles (including Golf Carts) ofany kind are permitted in the facility at any time.

No flexi-leads inside the facility at any time.

NO UNENTERED DOGS INSIDE THE BUILDING UNLESS IN ATTENDANCE AS A SPECIAL ATTRAC-TION DOG.

All grooming will be indoors. Very limited space for chairs in grooming area.

Grooming and crating will be supervised by “Kiarry Site Control” and “The Crew” who will bepresent to assist in the grooming areas. Anyone who refuses to cooperate with the staff ofeither company will be subject to disciplinary action.

ALL CRATES AND TACK UNITS MUST BE STACKED.

Crate and Grooming areas will be arranged in “Rows & Aisles” to facilitate exhibitors andensuring a safe and smooth operation of the event. These areas are under strict enforcementof the Fire Marshals’ Regulations. By entering this show, exhibitors and handlers agree to fol-low all directions of these assistants charged with arranging and maintaining safe and order-ly conditions in the grooming areas.

There will be limited complimentary community electric available in the grooming areas.These are 2000 watt outlets and anyone causing them to “trip” due to an overload or exces-sive high heat presents a safety hazard and only one re-set will be provided. Any subsequent“trips” will result in the loss of that outlet for the remainder of the events.

PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOAD ANY OUTLET UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

Anyone wishing to secure their own outlets for personal use should contact Michael Canalizoat: [email protected] by NOVEMBER 21 to reserve. There will be a one time charge of $120.00 peroutlet. PRIVATE EXERCISE PENS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.

There will be ample indoor and outdoor exercise pens throughout the venue. No private ex-pens will be permitted to be set up in the building or on any grass area of the facility orhotels. Each hotel will have designated exercise areas for their guests with dogs. You arerequired to clean up after your own dogs at all times.

NO EX-PENS CAN BE SET UP ON ANY GRASS AREA NEAR OR AROUND THE FACILITY. THIS WILLBE STRICTLY ENFORCED. THERE WILL BE LIMITED SPACE DESIGNATED FOR PRIVATE EX-PENSWHICH WILL BE CONTROLLED BY STAFF. EXHIBITOR UNLOADING PROCEDURE: ALL UNLOADING MUST BE AT THE REAR OF THE WESTHALL: NO UNLOADING PERMITTED FROM THE FRONT LOBBY.NO Exhibitor unloading will be permitted into the unloading area until Tuesday at 2:00 PM.You will need to show your Exhibitor ID in order to enter the unloading area. The entry gateis controlled and each vehicle must have a person remaining with the vehicle during theunloading process. All vehicles will be required to turn off their engines and leave the flash-ers on. There will be show personnel and uniformed security to supervise this area. There arethree entrances to the show hall which will be opened for unloading. There will be no savingof space under any circumstance. No floor rugs are permitted. No Grooming Tables in excessof 24x36 are permitted.Building Hours: 6:00 am to 11:00 PM. All access must be from the rear of the building aftershow hours. NO EXCEPTIONS. Overnight Security will be provided.Dogs may be “Dropped Off” at the front entrance but this is limited to “Walk Ins ONLY” Novehicles, Dogs or equipment may be left in this area at anytime.A Recording Fee of 50 cents for each dog and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be requiredfor each recordable single entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial.(American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). An AKC Recording Fee of $3.50 1st Entry &$3.00 additional entry of same dog will be required for each entry in Rally. Competition for Best Booth in Show (BBIS)AKC/Eukanuba National Championship offers a Competition for Best Booth in Show(BBIS). As part of the AKC Meet the Breeds® display, there will be competition for BestBooth decoration, culminating in the awarding of Best Booth in Show. We invite yourclub to participate. A panel of judges will select the winning booth based on visualappeal, originality, the ability to educate the public about the origin of the breedand providing information about the characteristics of the breed.

Awards: Preliminary competition will offer Rosettes for 1st through 4th in each group(standard AKC variety groups), with the winner of each group competing for Best Boothin Show. Best Booth in Show will receive a $500 donation offered by the AmericanKennel Club to any charity or rescue fund of winning Parent Club’s choice that benefitspurebred dogs.

INSTRUCTIONS1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you are

entering i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color). Beagles (not exceeding 13 in. over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.).Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat,long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard), Collies (rough,smooth),

The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition; Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogswhich, according to their owner’s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are uncon-firmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the showwhere the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addi-tion to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color divi-sion, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog hasbeen acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date ofacquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in hisname. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the A.K.C. (For complete rules refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).

5. Mixed Breed dogs entering classes for Agility, Obedience and Rally trials should mark Breed as AKC Canine Partners Listed Dog “All-American Dog/Mixed Breed.” Variety, Breeder, Sire, Dam information shall remain blank for mixed breed entrants.
