art From tHE SEaThe three artists and surfers Joãwo Parrinha, Luis de Dios and Xandi Kreuzeder created this green art project with the entire message to „Keep the Oceans clean“.

Art boasting a very distinctive style, using flotsam and jetsam: beach trash, weathered and dead materials. The artistic interpretation and composition of these materials brings them back to life, forming skeleton-like objects and mixed media installations.

The importance of keeping the oceans clean and the importance of respecting nature is the message the three artists wish to communi-cate through Skeleton Sea.

SKElEton SEa HomE BaSE in Portugal The newly established Skeleton Sea Gallery is located in Santo Isidoro near the small Portuguese surfer town of Ericeira.

Our place is more than just a gallery: It is an Environmental Art Centre for hands-on work-shops, events, exhibitions, get-togethers and much more.

Our Skeleton Sea gallery is the home of our inspiring art collection, a fantastic range of handmade art crafts and entertainment for all the family.

Unwind in our beautiful countryside garden and have a drink:We serve organic coffee, tea, juices and beer with home-made sweet and salty snacks.

Scroll around in our shop with goods you won‘t find at any other place.

Through „hands-on“ workshops, collective beach clean-ups and innovative works of art, we combine creative ideas and activism.

Our mission is: Turn trash into art! And with this promote the message “Keep the oceans clean!” And hopefully help to change daily habits to protect our natural resources.

For the summer 2015 we prepared a program of various events: Some we host every week, some are to be booked upon interest.

Next to our weekend BBQs and Brunches, you can book the gallery and our team for your private event. Just give us a call and enough lead time.

Your kids get inspired by things found on the beach. Even beach trash has a second life. Be surprised by the beauty created by your children.For the big workshop, we meet at a local beach nearby. Then we start the day with a clean up session. After the clean up, we shuttle to the Skeleton Sea gallery for an healthy organic lunch to get ourselves ready for turning trash into art. The day is ended with a guided tour about the art and an awareness film made by Skeleton Sea.

…wooden Surfboards Every detail matters. Our hollow wooden surfboards are hand-crafted, surf-able works of art that set the quality bar for every product we make and sell. Build your own wooden surfboard with original FCS Pauwlonia wood. Clean - sustain-able - environmental friendly. We teach you to build your own board with the original Strip and feather method, invented by Rich Blundell. Hollow wooden boards are very light and much more durable than foam and polyester boards.

The ride feel is unique …it´s like playing your own wooden made instru-ment and the look is just gorgeous…definitely an eye catcher on the beach.

…Speed Box workshopInspired by the Mach-77 boogie board we redesigned a super fast twin-fin short board, the speed box. Build your own hollow wooden Speed Box with recycled wood. Clean - sustainable - environmental friendly. We teach you to build your own board with our chambered method. Don´t worry..it´s not too short and due to the Box design we have the same volume than normal short boards. This board definitely promises a lot of fun in small all conditions waves… and definitely an eye catcher in the water. Sizes: from 4' 0'' to 4'6''

Make your own…WooDEn SurFBoarDS anD HanD PlatES.

The workshop is designed for everyone from complete novices to advanced photo-graphers. You don´t necessarily need a photo camera but it´s recommended to bring your own equipment. The action is more about the creativity and approach to realise a photography and graphic design with a strong ocean awareness message.

WE Will WorK in 3 StEPS: First half day: Get together and brainstorm about good ideas, which we can realise in our area and with our equipment. Professional photographer Xandi Kreuzeder will introduce you to the photo technical side and there will be a professional graphic designer for all the work done on the computer. Then we will organise the photo shoot, equipment, light, props, locations, etc.

Second half day: The field day: We go out and photograph. Xandi will help you with his experience and you can experiment with his professional cameras and lenses.

third day: Office Day on the computer with our professional graphic designer to realise your personal ocean awareness print. In the end we will print one poster size awareness print of each participant – you can take it home. Skeleton Sea will stay with the copyrights, files and will exhibit these photo awareness prints for a collective exhibition in the gallery.

This workshop is about the sustainability of surfing and is divided into 3 blogs.

1. lecture and slideshow: Xandi´s talk will introduce you to the problems of our non-sustainable lifesty-le, how it affects us as surfers and what conclusions we have.

2. Sustainable Surf showroom:The story of surf stuff. A good selection of sustainable surf equipment and refe-rences to look, feel and get inspired.
