For example: The number of red squirrels decreased

after the introduction of a new competitor, the grey squirrel.

The number of wild British birds has declined due to intensive farming. This has led to less woodland to find food, less woodland to hide from predators and no where to nest in.

Species of Lichens (crusty, leafy and shrubby varieties) to indicate air pollution

Varieties of small invertebrates to indicate water pollution
