Environmentally Friendly Bamboo Test Marketed by MouserIn July 2009, Mouser Custom Cabinetry made Bamboo available to a limited number of beta test dealers. The limited release included 15 door styles in an assortment of raised panel, recessed panel and slab door designs with six catalog finish options. In addition to the cata-log finishes, Inter-changeable Finish selections and Cus-tom Finishes are part of the Bamboo offering.

The Bamboo product, which will be available to all Mouser Dealers in the 2010 Prizma Price & Specification Catalog, is one of the most abundant and renewable resources found on earth. Classified a “grass”, this woody perennial matures in less than seven years and can grow as much as 48 inches in a 24 hour period. These tree-like “grasses”, which thrive in the thick forests of Southern China, can grow to heights of 75 feet with trunk diameters up to 14 inches.

Dimensionally stable and superior to most traditional woods, the Bamboo used by Mouser Custom Cabinetry is “caramelized” (a steaming process) to change the natural color to a warmer, medium brown

tone. The material, which has been used in flooring for many years, has become very popular for “green” projects in the cabinet industry.

Linero Backsplash Kitchen Organization System

Prizma Foil Doors Planned for Early 2010 Over the past nine months, the Mouser Product Development Group has been working with an Italian door manufacturing company to design an interesting new offering of foil doors for the Prizma EuroStyle Cabinetry line. These unique foils, which have been extremely popular throughout Europe, are now finding a growing market in the United States, and Mouser Custom Cabinetry would like our authorized Dealers to capitalize on this trend.

With forest conservation a top priority and sustainable resources the order of the day, European manufacturers have long been users of simulated wood products and quality foil materials for furniture and cabinetry. The Prizma offering of satin and high gloss foils in an assortment of solid colors, contemporary patterns and beautifully simulated wood grains will allow Mouser Dealers and Designers to create kitchens, baths and other room installations with clean, contemporary lines. These foils are durable, stylish and easy to maintain, and they address the growing demand for simple, yet distinctive design, from the emerging, under-40 age group of consumers.

The European foil product offering, which will be available to all Mouser Dealers on February 1, 2010, includes ten new door styles, each with a selection of 25-27 high quality foils available. The pricing for these new styles falls within the six door groups currently offered by Mouser Custom Cabinetry, and the delivery lead time will range from six to eight weeks consistently. To ensure the quality of the

finished product, Mouser will ship high gloss foil purchase orders with a protective peel coat on each door and drawer front.

As with all major product introductions, Mouser plans to make the foil doors available to a limited group of active Prizma showrooms in mid-October. For more than three months, Mouser Custom Cabinetry will thoroughly monitor and evaluate the processing, production and delivery of all European foil orders. This approach will allow Mouser Management to identify production issues and quickly address them prior to receiving heavier volumes of European foil orders. Planning and preparation are the most important stages of a new product introduction, and they are stepping stones on the path to a successful launch and incremental business.

Inset Series Product Improvementto be Implemented in October

The StoneHearth Inset Series cabinetry has two “no charge” hinge choices: 1) barrel hinges; 2) Blum 100 Degree Concealed Hinges. When ordering either type of hinge, Mouser has always included magnetic catches to securely hold the inset doors flush with the face frame. Earlier this year, several Dealers asked the Product Development Committee to evaluate other door stop options for the Blum 100 Degree Concealed Hinge. The consensus opinion was that concealed hinges provided ample force to hold the door securely in place, and magnetic catches were not necessary.

Mouser Custom Cabinetry completed a thorough review of available options and selected a metal stop to replace magnetic catches when Blum 100 Degree Concealed Hinges are ordered. These factory-installed metal stops will be attached to the cabinet face frame, and they will aid in positioning the inset doors flush with the face frame. Attach Blum’s soft close door mechanism to the hinge and you will create quiet, smooth operating Inset doors unmatched by the competition.

Mouser Custom Cabinetry will implement this specification change in the production week beginning Monday, October 12th. All Inset Series orders produced on October 12th or later will receive the metal stops when Blum 100 Degree Concealed Hinges are selected.

More Exotic Woods Coming SoonTo Prizma EuroStyle Cabinetry

Currently, reconstituted Wenge and Zebrawood veneer door styles, both exclusive to Prizma WoodBridge, are being test marketed to a limited group of Mouser Dealers. A full introduction to all Mouser Custom Cabinetry Dealers is sched-uled with the distribution of the 2010 Prizma EuroStyle Price & Specification Catalog in early December.

In their natural states, Wenge and Zebrawood are exotic woods native to equato-rial Africa, and both are considered threatened wood species. Designed to emulate true Wenge and Zebrawood, the reconstituted or man-made veneers used by Mous-er are actually created using abundant, less expensive wood species. As popularity for Wenge and Zebrawood have grown in many Western markets, reconstituted ve-neers have filled the demand for these unique, very expensive exotic woods.

By introducing the Wenge and Zebrawood reconstituted veneer doors exclu-sively on the Prizma WoodBridge plywood cabinet, Mouser Custom Cabinetry has created an eco-friendly product. Reconstituted veneer is one of the best resource conserving products developed by the wood industry, and the adhesives found in the plywood material used to construct Prizma WoodBridge cabinetry has no added urea formaldehyde (commonly referred to as formaldehyde-free plywood). Both are key elements in making these exotic wood offerings very “green”.

The Wenge and Zebrawood man-made veneers are each available in two door styles and four catalog finishes. The Antigua slab door style has the popular horizontal grain pattern, while the Geneva slab door comes with a vertical grain pattern. Additional finishes may be ordered through the Mouser Interchangeable Finish and Custom Stain Color pro-grams, which combine to offer an endless variety of options for the most discerning clients.

Where Do Those Mature Displays Go?

Design trends, sales volumes, and demographics are just a few of the information resources Mouser Custom Cabinetry uses to select colors for our expansive standard color palette. What is very popular in some parts of the country may not be so popular in other parts of the country. Such was the case with Burnished Chiffon on Maple, which was discontinued at the end of 2006. This color proved to be so popular in the Ocean City, NJ area that Asbury Kitchen & Bath kept their Manchester Beaded Inset display because so many customers wanted that Burnished Chiffon finish.

The clients, lake island owners, had looked all over for just the right cabinetry to go in their summer home on an island in Lake Placid, NY. In Asbury Kitchen & Bath’s showroom, they found exactly what they were looking for in cabinetry. As an added bonus for them, Dot and Lou Taccarino, owners of Asbury Kitchen & Bath were ready to dismantle the Burnished Chiffon display, and with just a few tweaks here and there, the display cabinets worked perfectly for the clients. The cabinets have been installed, the clients couldn’t be happier, and they can’t wait to start using their beautiful kitchen. Our compliments to Asbury Kitchen & Bath for a job well done.

Rural Kentucky has been Melissa Mattingly’s home for the past 37 years. Growing up the youngest of nine children (six brothers and two sisters) in the Bluegrass created special memories and an affinity for Elizabethtown and the surrounding communities. Melissa now resides in Brandenburg, Kentucky with her husband Jason, and their three beautiful children; Corina, Krista, and “Lil” Jason. Recently, her family expanded to include her granddaughter Hailee, who Melissa refers to as “gorgeous”.

Melissa has been a member of the Mouser Custom Cabinetry family since January 2003. Her first 5-1/2 years were spent in the Production Services Department where she learned assorted duties from sizing cabinet components to creating the Mouser Schedule Report. Intrigued by the idea of learning other aspects of the Order Services Department, Melissa recently accepted a position as Work-Up Associate within the Order Work-Up Department.

Over the past 3-1/2 months, Melissa has expanded her knowledge of the Mouser Product line as she continually reviews layouts, elevations and drawings and compares them with the corresponding order form sent by the Dealerships. Melissa stated, “My job at Mouser Custom Cabinetry is of huge importance to me. I enjoy every aspect of it and to me that’s very important when choosing a career. I am looking forward to continued learning and the achievement of many more personal and company goals.”

When not at work, Melissa enjoys spending every moment she can with her family. They take long walks by a nearby river taking in the area’s natural beauty. Melissa and her family spend time together as a family with no planned activities or anything special; just sharing and enjoying familial bonds.

Melissa’s spirituality and religious beliefs play a large part in her personal life. As a devoted Sunday School teacher for children ages 13 and over, Melissa attributes her ability to accomplish personal and professional goals to her faith.

Mouser Custom Cabinetry would like to congratulate Kathy Cvetkovich, owner of Willowbrook Designs in Venetia, Pennsylvania, for having a recently completed renovation project selected as the featured kitchen design in the Fall 2009 issue of Fantastic Kitchens Pittsburgh.

Kathy worked with an interior designer to create a very large, very functional traditional kitchen with exquisite English and French touches. Her spacious design provided several beautiful work areas, over 1400 cubic feet of storage space, a butler’s pantry, a wine storage unit, an espresso bar, and a large, centrally located island with comfortable seating for four.

Incorporated in the kitchen is a custom wood hood, several specially designed crown moldings, some beautifully blended dec-orative embellishments, and a coffered wood ceiling over the island. To enhance the traditional style of this large kitchen, Kathy selected a Mouser beaded inset door style in Cherry wood and combined two finishes, Mocha and Driftwood, to create a warm, very inviting environment. Kathy’s cli-ents are ecstatic about their new kitchen, which is perfectly suited for either a quiet family night at home or an evening of entertainment for 20 or more friends.

14-Day Finish-up Service14-day Finish-up service may be requested for small orders such as appliance panels, wainscot panels, or additional cabinetry being added to an existing job, based on our current production capacity and the complexity of the order. Orders containing complex items that require production drawings, items that must be worked out by our Custom Quote Department, labor intensive items, or items with extended production lead-times do not qualify for this finish-up service. 14-day Finish-up orders will not be held for an Order Release Notice, as they must be sent immediately to Production. To receive this service, you must write 14-day Finish-up in the requested ship week area of the order form. We will determine if we can meet the request and acknowledge accordingly.

7-Day Finish-up Service7-day Finish-up service may be requested for items that are simple to produce, completely manufactured by Mouser Custom Cabinetry and were listed on the original order in the incorrect size or quantity. Complex items or multiple pieces will require the 14-day finish up service. Please reference the original work order number when applicable to allow us to verify items ordered are correct when replacing existing items. Some items do not qualify for this 7-day Finish-up service due to extended lead-times required for those items. The 7-day Finish-up Service is not available when mouldings, appliance panels, or wainscot panels were not ordered and produced with the original order.

48-Hour Quick Ship Service48-hour Quick Ship Service is available for non-manufactured items we stock, such as care kits, door and drawer pulls, drawer slides, sample fronts, color blocks, unfinished wood knobs, decorative woodcarvings, leaded glass, special order items, extended production door styles, etc.

When requesting orders with any of our expedite lead times, if items ordered require different lead-times, we will assign all items the lead time of the item(s) with the longest schedule.
