Sports ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY VALUE CHAIN (HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES) 2016 Activities The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) joined the opening of the 2016 Government Corporations Athletic Association’s (GCAA) Men and Women Volleyball tournament on July 6, 2015 at the GSIS Gymnasium, Financial Center, Pasay City. 2016 Activities

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) joined the

opening of the 2016 Government Corporations Athletic Association’s

(GCAA) Men and Women Volleyball tournament on July 6, 2015 at

the GSIS Gymnasium, Financial Center, Pasay City. The

Government System Insurance System (GSIS) is the host to this

year’s Inter-Agency Volleyball Tournament. The program started

with the parade of participating agencies together with their coaches

and muses. Mr. Frederick Tenorio from GSIS formally opened the

league with the presentation of each team followed by the audio

presentation of the Philippine National Anthem and the prayer. The

guests were warmly welcomed by Gracita Gilda Bocanegra, OIC-

OPGM, GSIS while the inspirational message was delivered by

Rosemarie Tubal, Acting Vice President of the GCAA. Dr. Rainier

Curimao, Athletic Director, led the Oath of sportsmanship where

athletes pledged that they will play the game to the true spirit of

sportsmanship and fellowship with fellow government employees.

The tournament was declared open by Dr. Glenn Vladimor

Valmores, Tournament Chairman. Also present during the opening

are delegates from other participating government agencies: Social

Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System

(GSIS), Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), National Power

Corporation (NPC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation

(PAGCOR), Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), Philippine

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office 2016 in-house tenpin bowling

tournament opened last June 23, 2016 at the Coronado Bowling Lanes , 4th floor,

Star Mall, Mandaluyong City. The two day event was participated by all six (6)

sectors in this year’s tournament. Atty. Lauro A. Patiag, Chairman of the PCSO

Sports Committee, together with Dr. Orly Malaca led the opening ceremony. The

event was hosted by Mr. Eric Imson and Ms. Romilyn Sison. Administratve Sector,

last year’s Team Event Champions will go to defend their crown while Mr. Marcy

Raymundo and Ms. Dolly Geling will also try to defend their Individual Master’strophy. (Justin B. Santos/ Ericson Delos Reyes)

The PCSO Annual In-house Volleyball Tournament opened June 16, 2016 at the

Dumlao Gym in Mandaluyong City. Mr. Eric Imson and Ms. Romy Sison hosted the

event while Mr. OrlyMalaca and the other sports committee were present to attend

the Opening Ceremony and the notable Oath of Sportsmanship. Last year’s

defending Men’s Champions, the Administrative Sector expected to repeat with a

dominant performance winning their first game against the Gaming Sector via a two-

set victory, while on the women side, the Charity sector went over the limit but fell

short in the end giving up a two set decision to the Gaming Sector, as action kicks

Through the effort of the PCSO

Sports Committee, the PCSO In-

house Sectoral Badminton

Tournament has formally opened

last March 17, 2016 at the Power

Play Badminton Center in Quezon

City where games will also be held.

The participants assembled for a

short program. The welcome and

opening remarks were delivered by

Dr. Orlando M. Malaca, PSC Vice-

Chairman in behalf of Atty. Lauro A.

Patiag, AGM for Administrative

Sector and PSC Chairman. The

game’s rules and regulations were

enumerated by Mr. Narciso

Maniquis, Badminton Coordinator

followed by the Oath of

Sportsmanship led by Dr. Larry R.

Cedro, AGM for Charity Sector and

ended with the ceremonial toss led

by their special guests Mr. Andrei

Babad of the Philippine Badminton

Team and Mr. Raymar Nadal,

PCSO-GCAA Badminton Coach

and the sectoral representatives.

After the short program, games for

men’s and women’s double andmixed doubles followed.

PCSO SECTORAL BASKETBALL

TOURNAMENT 2016. The Philippine

Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO),

through its PCSO Sports Committee

(PSC), formally opened its Sectoral

Basketball Tournament on March 10,

2016, at the Dumlao Sports Center,

Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.

The event opened with the parade of

the participating teams—Administrative

Sector, Branch Operations Sector

(BOS), Charity Sector, Executive

Offices, Gaming, Product Development,

and Marketing Sector, and Management

Services Sector (MSS). AGM for

Administrative Sector and PSC

Chairman Atty. Lauro A. Patiag gave his

welcome remarks while PSC Vice-

Chairman Dr. Orlando M. Malaca

declared the official opening of games.

The event was followed by the first

game, where MSS won against BOS,

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), through its Gender

and Development Focal Point System (GFPS), conducted a two-day

Gender and Development Orientation and Gender Mainstreaming

Evaluation Framework (GMEF) Assessment on May 16 to 17, 2016,

at the Richmonde Hotel, Ortigas, Pasig City. The two-day workshop

was attended by PCSO GFPS members, secretariat, and support

staff, and 14 representatives from various sectors. It was facilitated

by GFPS member Antoinette S. Escario (below center photo) who

discussed about Gender and Development (GAD). The discussion

was followed by a GMEF assessment which would help the GFPS

and participants determine the level of PCSO’s GAD mainstreaming

3. Medical and Dental Missions

PCSO CONDUCTS MEDICAL AND

DENTAL MISSION IN PASIG

CATHOLIC COLLEGE. The Philippine

Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO),

in partnership with the Parents

Coordinating Body of Pasig Catholic

College, conducted a medical and

dental mission on February 19, 2016, at

the Mini-hotel, Pasig Catholic College. A

total of 130 individuals—62 children, 47

adults, and 21 dental patients,

benefitted from the outreach activity.

During the medical mission, free

medicines were also distributed to the

patients. Led by the PCSO Medical

Services Department, the free medical

and dental mission is one of the many

charitable programs of PCSO geared at

making basic health services accessible

to Filipinos especially the

underprivileged members of the

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), through the request of the school

administration of Lagundi Elementary School, conducted a free medical and dental

mission on May 13, 2016, at Lagundi Elementary School, Plaridel, Bulacan. A total of

362 individuals—120 adults, 156 children, and 86 dental patients benefitted from the

outreach activity where free medicines were also distributed to them. Led by the PCSO

Medical Services Department, the PCSO Medical and Dental Mission Program is

geared at bringing medical and dental consultation and services, and distribution of free

PCSO conducts medical and dental mission for the residents of Brgy. San

Roque, Antipolo City. On May 4, 2016, 186 residents of Brgy. San Roque,

Antipolo City received free medical and dental consultation and management

from the PCSO Medical and Dental Team. The PCSO medical and dental

mission, through the efforts of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), was held at

the covered court of Juan Sumulong Elementary Central, Brgy. San Roque,

Antipolo City. Medicines for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, colds and cough and

multivitamins were also distributed. The PCSO Medical and Dental Mission

program in partnership with LGUs, NGOs, civic and religious organizations and

other government agencies provides free medical consultation and treatment,

dental consultation and treatment, ancillary services, and free medicines to

medical and dental outreach

activity at the Mandaluyong City

Gymnasium on July 29, 2016. The

activity is in cooperation with

Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie

Abalos, Vice Mayor Anthony Suva,

Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas,

the Urban Poor Affairs Office, the

Presidential Commission for the

Urban Poor (PCUP) and the

Mandaluyong City Council. The

PCSO CONDUCTS MEDICAL AND DENTAL OUTREACH IN

BARANGAY NARRA, FRANCISCO HOMES 1, SAN JOSE DEL

MONTE, BULACAN – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office

(PCSO) Medical and Dental Satellite Team recently conducted a free

medical mission held at the Covered Court in Barangay Narra,

Francisco Homes I, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan upon the request of

Metro Manila Transit Welfare Association, Inc. on April 27, 2016. A total

of 388 adults and children benefited from the free services. The PCSO

Medical and Dental mission program aims to provide equitable, efficient

and effective health care services through medical and dental missions,

PCSO TAKES PART IN ARAW NG KAGITINGAN AND PHILIPPINE

VETERANS WEEK MEDICAL MISSION – In observance of the 74th Araw Ng

Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes

Office (PCSO) in partnership with Veterans Memorial Medical Hospital gave

medicines to the medical outreach activity conducted in Agoo, La Union on

April 8, 2016. A total of 1,392 adults and children availed of the

A total of 267 patients benefited from the free Medical and Dental Mission

conducted by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in coordination

with Jolo Elementary School Batch 1976 held at Brgy. Hulo, covered court last

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in cooperation with Congressman

Romero S. Quimbo conducted a Free Medical and Dental Mission at the Jem

Subdivision Community Gym in Parang, Marikina on February 24, 2016. A total of

324 adults and children benefited from this activity. The Medical and Dental

Mission is a continuous activity of PCSO that provides free medical and dental

and 64 dental patients, benefitted from the outreach activity. During the

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office donated five (5) Saving Lives Ambulance

units to different LGUs in both Negros Occidental and Oriental on June 7, 2016 at the

Agape Hall, Carmelite Monastery, Mandalagan, Bacolod City. PCSO Vice-Chairman

and General Manager, Atty. Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II, Assistant General Manager

for Branch Operations Sector, Remeliza M. Gabuyo, Manager for Visayas

Department, Federico A. Damole, Assistant General Manager for Charity Sector Dr.

Larry Cedro and Manager for Assets and Supply Management Department, Atty

Reena Yumina M. Yazon led in the awarding of the symbolic keys to the LGUs. There

were three recipients from Negros Occidental (Municipality of Victoria, Silay City and

Pulupundan) and two (2) from Negros Oriental (Municipality of Bacong and Bais). Rev.

Fr. Romeo Tumonong blessed these five (5) ambulances at the Carmelite Monastery

grounds. The ambulance units will be used for emergency needs of areas near andwithin the range of these beneficiaries.

April 21, 2016. Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office turned over thirteen (13)

ambulances for the Province of Bohol (Alburquerque, Pilar, Valencia, Balilihan,

Maribojoc, Amtequera, Buenavista, Bilar, San Miguel, Inabanga, Sierra Bullones,

Trinidad,Talibon) at the Governor’s Mansion, Tagbilaran City. In a simple ceremony,

PCSO General Manager Atty. Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II said that the ambulance

turnover is part of the agency’s “Ambulance Donation Program” (ADP) to benefit

more Filipinos. He also encouraged people of Bohol to patronize PCSO innovative

games so that they can help in their own way the underprivileged sector of our

society. PCSO will not be able to accomplish its projects without the continuous

support of the Filipinos to all PCSO gaming products. PCSO provides free

ambulances to 4th, 5th and 6th class municipalities, while the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

class municipalities are required to shoulder 40 percent of the unit cost.

May 16, 2016. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated 9

ambulances to several municipalities and hospital in the Province of Aurora at a turnover

ceremony held at the newly opened PCSO Branch Office in Baler, Aurora namely: (Baler,

Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Sabang Eco Tourism Area

Association, Inc., Maria Aurora Community Hospital, Maria Aurora and Aurora Provincial

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Baler). PCSO General Manager Jose

Ferdinand M. Rojas II explained that ambulance turnover is part of the agency’s

“Ambulance Donation Program” (ADP) to benefit more Filipinos. He also encouraged

people of Aurora Province to patronize PCSO innovative games so that they can help

the underprivileged sector of our society. He also emphasized that the PCSO Board was

able to donate ambulances all over the Philippines especially to farflung areas.

February 4, 2016 - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) led by Vice Chairman

and General Manager Atty. Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II (6th from left) distributed nine (9)

ambulances to the Province of Romblon. The recipients of the ambulances are the Romblon

Provincial Hospital (not in photo), and the municipalities of Banton, Concepcion, Ferrol, Looc,

San Andres, San Fernando, San Jose and Santa Fe. The continuing distribution of

ambulances is part of the Ambulance Donation Program of the agency anchored on the

universal health care program of the Aquino administration. The PCSO Ambulance Donation

Program grants ambulances to local government units, government hospitals, healthcare

facilities/providers and other deserving institution involved in the delivery of medical services.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) marked the beginning of the year

by distributing 10 ambulances to the Province of Palawan. The turnover ceremony

was held last January 8, 2016 at the City Coliseum, San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City.

PCSO Directors Mabel Mamba and Francisco Joaquin III led the turnover ceremony

assisted by Palawan Vice Governor Dennis Socrates. The ambulances were

PCSO PARTICIPATES IN THE MMDA’S SECOND METRO MANILA SHAKE

DRILL 2016. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office

(PCSO) participated in the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA)

2nd Metro Manila Shake Drill on June 22, 2016, at the PCSO Head Office,

Sun Plaza Building and Conservatory Shaw Plaza Building, Shaw Boulevard,

Mandaluyong City. At exactly 9:00 am, PCSO officials and employees

practiced the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” drill for one minute. The activity is part

of MMDA’s efforts in preparation for the “Big One” or the scenario of the

PCSO RELEASES P25M TO COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL –

PCSO Vice Chairman and General Manager Atty. Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II turns over a

check in the amount P25 Million to newly-elected Governor Tyron Uy of Compostela

Valley on June 23, 2016 held at the PCSO Head Office, Sun Plaza Bldg.,Shaw Blvd.,

Mandaluyong City. The amount will be for the procurement of one (1) unit of Computed

Tomography Scanner (CT SCAN) for the use of Compostela Valley Provincial Hospital.

8. Health Capability-Building

Health Capability Building for informal dwellers of Sunshineville,

Brgy. Cabuco, Trece Martires, Cavite City. A team of doctor, dentist,

nurses, allied medical practitioners and social workers from PCSO provided

free medical and dental consultation and treatment and distributed basic

medicine to 158 residents of Sunshineville, Brgy. Cabuco, Trece Martires,

Cavite. Residents of the said barangay are relocated informal settlers from

Makati City, Taguig City, Paranaque City, Las Pinas, Pasay City and Manila.

The activity kicked off the opening of the Health Capability Building for

informal dwellers of Sunshineville, Brgy. Cabuco, Trece Martires, Cavite

City, a joint project of PCSO and the National Housing Authority (NHA). The

joint project involves the provision of capability-building activities toward the

establishment of a functional health facility which will attend to the medical

and dental and other non-health related needs of the relocated families,

primarily sick children and elderly.

PCSO ENROLLMENT SYSTEM FOR HEMO AND

PERITONEAL DIALYSIS PATIENTS. On March 11, 2016, the

Charity Assistance Department (CAD) held a meeting with PCSO

partner hemo and peritoneal dialysis facilities/centers at the Lung

Center of the Philippines for the launching of the PCSO

Enrollment System for Hemo and Peritoneal Dialysis Patients. Dr.

Larry R. Cedro, Assistant General Manager for Charity Sector, put

in plain words the details of the enrollment system while Mr.

Rubin Z. Magno, Department Manager of CAD, answered queries

from the participants. The meeting was attended by

representatives from 20 PCSO partner hemo and peritoneal
