Human Interface & Unique Features Only Available with Envoy

Envoy with ATC Menu Active

TouchSense™ TouchSense indicates finger position prior to button pressing. TouchSense enabled units highlight screen items that correspond with line select buttons visually when a finger touches its surface. The result is a user-friendly experience that increases crew accuracy, which translates into reduced workload with fewer unnecessary or unintended keystrokes. Patent Pending.

LightSense™ LightSense autonomously senses the ambient lighting of the flight deck and adjusts accordingly. During daylight operations, display and keyboard lighting increases to enhance visibility. During dusk and dawn transitions and into night, LightSense decreases brightness to avoid undue distraction and reduce fatigue. Unlike other units that use exposed photo sensors and are prone to errors based on hand position. Envoys LightSense uses the entire keyboard surface to monitor ambient light from 60 different locations. Patent Pending.

Context Logic System The Envoy user experience utilizes context logic to enabling flight crews to shortcut common tasks. For example,

entering 7 or .7 into the scratchpad and up selecting to the CPDLC speed request field will result in a line entry of “.7

MACH”. Similarly, context sensitive menus display what is required and when. One example is an a CPDLC logon, if not

logged on, the logon screen is presented when pushing the ATC button, if already logged on, the ATC button brings the

user to the main ATC page. Context logic in Envoy also knows what CPDLC protocol to use based on your airspace. While

in Europe, ATN B1 CPDLC is available, while outside of European airspace, FANS 1/A CPDLC messaging is available. These

are just a few examples of the comprehensive routines available with Envoy’s context logic system.

ICAO NAT Mandate, Phase 2C, (FL290+), JAN 2020

FAA NextGEN, NAS Tower and En-Route Domains

FAA NextGEN Services, FANS 1/A+ (DCL & EN-ROUTE CPDLC) Tower and En-Route Services (DCL and CPDLC) Envoy supports the benefits and enhancements enabled by the FAA NextGEN program and infrastructure.

Operators with routes throughout the U.S. National Airspace System can take advantage of these services to reduce delays, fly routes that are more efficient, improve safety, and reduce congestion or adverse weather delays.

CPDLC Departure Clearance (DCL) Services DCL is currently operational at 60 U.S. airports with more coming on-line. Controllers send text-based clearance instructions to flight crews instead of speaking over the radio. Air carrier dispatchers simultaneously receive the same information, giving all decision makers a shared awareness for faster reactions to changes. Flight crews review the instructions and signal acceptance by pushing a button, and the instructions are then loaded into the aircraft’s flight management system.

En-Route CPDLC Services Prepare for future FAA NextGEN services via en-route CPDLC. FANS enabled Envoy units take advantage of DCL services now and position your operations for competitive advantages associated with en-route services immediately once available in 2019. Time is short and all 20 NAS en-route centers will be operational by 2021, do not wait; your competition is not.

Statement of Compliance for PBCS (Performance Based Communication and Surveillance) requirements Spectralux will provide Envoy customers with a document titled “Data Link Statement of Compliance Instructions for STC

Applicant” in accordance with the guidance contained in FAA AC 20-140C to identify the interoperability, subnetwork,

and performance capabilities to which the Envoy data product has been designed, tested, and certified by Spectralux as

Equipment Manufacturer. Once STC certification is obtained, this Statement of Compliance can be provided to the

Aircraft Operator to meet guidance contained in FAA AC 90-117, section 3.3 Statement of Compliance (SOC).

ATN B1 CPDLC (Previously Link2000+ in Europe) Fully certified for ATN B1 CPDLC, VHF Mode 2 Envoy Data Link delivers ATN B1 CPDLC to operators requiring certified compliance with the European mandate.

Beginning February 2020, the ATN B1 CPDLC mandate requires ALL non-exempt aircraft operating above FL285 to have ATN B1 CPDLC equipment in designated airspace.

Basic Functions PM-CPDLC (Protected Mode-Controller Pilot Data Link Communications)

DLIC (Data Link Initiation Capability)

ACM (ATC Communication Management)

ACL (ATC Clearances)

AMC (ATC Microphone Check)

Mandate Details EU Mandate: DLS-IR (EC) 29/2009 and 2015/310 (FEB 2020)

Best-Equipped-Best-Served, Select European Airspaces Some words from Volker Stuhlsatz, CNS Expert at EUROCONTROL Maastricht-UAC

‘Already today, during peak VHF channel congestion, some Direct To and Continuous Climb clearances can only be provided via datalink, as higher priority separation instructions naturally take priority on voice com.

To deal with the ever-increasing airspace congestion MUAC is one of the ANSP’s adopting the “best equipped, best served” model for aircraft routing in advance of mandate requirements of February 2020.

Over the last few years, MUAC has invested significantly to further improve ATM capacity by expeditiously handling CPDLC equipped aircraft in the most efficient way. Following avionics white list filtering and multi frequency deployment, error rates of less than 1% are demonstrated since Nov. 2017. MUAC is confident that the target availability can be reached soon in its AoR.”

To solve present congestion problems, which are according to longer term RP3 predictions likely to stay, a reliably high datalink Log-On rate will be key. An estimated equipage rate of 75% of all flights has previously simulated to increase ATM capacity by +11%.

According to the amended Datalink Services Implementing Regulation 29/2009, aircraft operators shall ensure that all aircraft operating GAT flights above FL 285 are capable to operate the Datalink Services as from 5th February 2020.

Aircraft operators are requested to promote the use of CPDLC by their crews as this helps MUAC to cope with the ever-increasing traffic demand. Increased fuel-flow below FL280 might be a catalyst for business case analyses, beside increased communication safety e.g. mitigating lost coms consequences.’

GADSS and Condition-based Global Flight Tracking Position Reports per ICAO 15-minute recommendation Envoy enables Global Flight Tracking by sending specialized position reports over the ACARS network, terrestrial VHF or by SATCOM.

Envoy Features Condition-based Reporting By monitoring the condition of configured events and triggers, the timing of automated position reporting can change in frequency depending on the severity of monitored parameters.

True Dual Stack CPDLC FANS 1/A+ CPDLC and ATN B1 CPDLC ... in a single unit Operating within the NAT, Tango routes, and throughout European airspace represents a unique challenge to many operators who must comply with two different mandates. Envoy Data Link has True Dual Stack software applications that allow a flight crew to change between FANS CPDLC and ATN B1 CPDLC based on individual airspace requirements.

Other CMUs in combination with expensive FMS changes only allow for FANS CPDLC or ATN CPDLC, but not both … penalizing the operator for flight segments that are not in compliance.

With Envoy, you maintain compliance with all ATC mandates … no matter where you fly.

Envoy equipped aircraft have full compliance and benefit of global data link across all segments
