What is the purpose of the EPA?

The Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) is a U.S Federal government agency that was established for protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.

Is the top person a political appointee? Gina McCarthy was

appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009 as Assistant Administrator for the EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. McCarthy became head of the EPA in March of 2013.

Incorrect reporting under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right –to-Know Act (EPCRA). From 2005-2008 reports were submitted untimely and incomplete and correct Toxics Release Inventory (TRI).
