Communicable Disease:

Disease that is passed person to person, person to object, person to animal

Noncommunicable Disease: cannot be passed; inherit (genetics); environmental factors; lifestyle choices (skin cancer); or “just happens”

5 Types of Pathogens:

Caloric intake:

Number of calories that you burn.

Caloric Expenditure:

Number of calories that you consume (eat).

Maintain a healthy weight.

Balance caloric intake and expenditure

Lose Weight

Eat less, exercise more.

Eat more, exercise less

Eating Disorders

Anorexia: Self-starvation: someone who does not eat or eats very little

Bulimia: Binging and purging: someone who eats and then throws up before the food can be digested

Malnutrition:

Not getting the nutrients the body needs

On the back of your recap notes, divide your paper in half, horizontally.

The family is the basic unit of society.

-Your immediate family consists of you, your parents or guardians, and any brothers and sisters.-Your extended family is your immediate family plus other relatives such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Nuclear family consists of parents and offspring (children).

Single-parent family consists of one parent and offspring (children).

Blended family consists of adopted children and step-children.
