eOffice unique 10,000 sq ft workspace in Manchester is based around the three key elements of design, technology and people. It is aimed at individual entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs as well as national or even international companies requiring a Manchester presence, or meeting spaces without the usual overheads associated with grade-A commercial property.

According to its founder and CEO, Pier Paolo Mucelli: “As the original modern city, Manchester was the obvious location for us to open. The eOffice concept is innovative, adaptive and forward thinking, appealing to the diverse SME market - particularly the

creative and high-tech industries. We want to be part of the fast growth service industry in the North West.” There has been a paradigm shift in the design and culture of workplaces. Innovative workplaces have a

profound effect on organizational culture and individual performance.

Design is strongly connected to business success, with clear evidence that Britain’s most successful companies are using design to spur growth and productivity. eOffice has collaborated with leading IT, furniture and interior design specialists to create a stimulating and sociable environment with diverse mini ‘business districts’ under one roof.

There are several self-contained small offices and a spacious open-plan area with Resolve workstations designed by Herman Miller, that can be arranged individually or in clusters, as required by clients – plus ‘breakout’ spaces where members can enjoy a coffee while surfing the Wi-Fi network or browsing through lifestyle magazines and design books. The reception area looks more like the lobby of a boutique hotel

than an office, with designer furniture from Kristalia and Hynch Milius, complemented by iconic images of Manchester by leading graphic artists.

There’s a choice of meeting rooms (all with plasma screens), ranging from an 88-seat theatre-style conference facility with the latest audio-visual system, to smaller rooms suitable for one-to-one interviews.

In 2007 eOffice Manchester won British Council of Offices Innovation Award.

Unlike other serviced offices in Britain, eOffices are unique in themselves, with a highly finished design reflecting their locality. For example, Bristol’s eOffice features images of Brunel and his engineering marvels.

Bristol’s eOffice situated nearby the busy Corn Street and Broadmead shopping centre, on the first floor of the imposing Prudential Buildings in Wine Street. With its striking sofas, bright red lockers and plasma screens, reception sets the tone for the rest of the premises.

Its 100 workstations can be configured in many ways, from

closed offices for up to seven people (fully air-conditioned, with designer furniture) to open-plan with workstations in clusters of three, to promote interaction and synergy. Screens on these workstations allow three individual desks, but can be removed for group working, so even a small call centre can be accommodated. With high speed broadband and Wi-Fi throughout, a swipe-card entry system allowing access to pre-paid hot-desking, and virtual offices for those who don’t require a fixed desk, eOffice has everything…

The six meeting rooms can be

configured for private meetings of four, up to board meetings of twelve, with plasma data screens and presentation materials, Illy coffee machines and iced water. One is also equipped with full video conference facilities. The 100-seat conference room also has a data projector and wireless PA system, and can be configured as an auditorium or with individual tables for delegates.

Mark Alexander, the founder of Uproar Design, has invented an all-in-one Second-Life automated virtual conferencing system that enhances and compliments a real world eOffice conferencing service.

With the help of Uproar Design’s expertise and in keeping with their forward thinking mentality, eOffice has become the first company worldwide, to offer facilities of this kind to their clients.

The eOffice automated virtual conferencing system makes the powerful multimedia and communications potential of virtual

worlds accessible to everyone, whether they are part of Second Life, or not.

The system seamlessly fuses real and virtual world resources together in a way that not only enhances the reality of both, but also creates a more compelling experience for the audience in whatever way they choose to interact. Now you can share video, stream webcam or audio, engage in VOIP, share pictures, URLs and/or collaborate on Documents, all in a virtual context, surrounded by virtual people and the attractive surroundings of a virtual eOffice.

An interaction between two worlds occurs through the eOffice website’s meeting point www.myeOffice.net). This is a fully interactive real-time chat room where outside participants can engage in discussions within the virtual world of Second Life itself as well as actively share and publish their resources. Equally, real world events can open their doors to a wider range of global participants, taking part via the web or via Second

Life for a more immersive and natural feeling experience.

Booking is simple, just select your virtual venue and choose your time slot. You can start adding rich multimedia resources instantly, in preparation for your meeting. To learn more about this facility go to: www.myeOffice.net/?page=tour#.

eOffice scooped last year’s BCO National Innovation Award and a new Birmingham centre has now been judged the best small project in the Midlands and East Anglia.

Technology has dramatically changed the way business is done in the 21st century and that drama is playing out in new office design. Serviced business centres are becoming a serious alternative to conventional space and eOffice has pushed the boundaries even Judges said: “An office revolution is being driven by demand for new ways of working and using space. eOffice is a striking example of how space is being used by vibrant start up companies.”
