EPC Facilities

The cost of your project infrastructure in Cloud is mainly a sum of prices for your VMs. The price consists of static and changeable costs. Static: Soft and LaborChangeable:

Active (Running) and Passive (Stopped/Suspended) resources pricing is different:

Hint 1: Resource Usage Optimization

Minimizing the Active time by stopping the VMs when they are not needed, can significantly decrease your Cloud Costs.The diagram shows the amount of money that some real projects saved in one month after introducing this practice:

Hint 2: Scheduling

Scheduling the VMs activity allows to stop, suspend and run instances automatically. An instance that is

running only during working hours, has significantly lower costs (up to 60%).

The difference in price for a scheduled VM running during working hours only and running 24/7 is significant:

Hint 3: Checkpoints Accurate Usage

Checkpoints - instance recovery points, containing the state and data (storage, memory, other

devices) of an instance.

Related issues:

• Significantly increases the price of the VM

E.g.: Large VM price: $72.76; Large VM+checkpoint = approx $87,19

• Reverting to the checkpoint older than 30 days may cause trouble

Recommendations:

• Do not use for more than 72 hours

• Remove checkpoints if no needed anymore

Hint 4: Account Optimization Ratio Reports

The Account Optimization Ratio Report is a part of the Summary report of your projects in EPC retrieved by project superiors (Project Sponsor, Sales Executive, or Account Manager) at the end of each billing month. This data can become a basis for infrastructure review and resource usage optimization.

You can chose cheaper region to run your infrastructure, if it fits your project needs. Below, you can see the comparison of monthly prices* for a LARGE VM with 20 GB volume in different EPC regions (VMs usage rate is 100%).
