Instructions for Use

Besides the guidelines set by your health care provider, the following directions needs to be followed.

Epicyn™ is ready for use with no mixing or dilution required

1. Wash the affected area with water and soap2. Let the skin dry3. Cover the affected area with a thin layer of Epicyn™ and gently rub until it is evenly distributed4. Repeat 3 times daily

Epicyn™ is the generation of silicon based hydrogel, which also incorporates a anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect to treat old ad new scars

Any deep layered trauma to the skin will result in a scar. The skin has the intensity to close immediately to prevent more damage to the underlying tissue. Unfortunately there could be an excess growth of collagen, which influences the development of scars. Most scars do not cause any issues or negative side effects. However-depending on the location on the body, age, sex, genetic factors, ethnicity, and the possibility to develop Hypertrophic-or Keloid scars is present.

What is a scar?

Scarring is a natural process of the body to a deeper damage of the skin. Scars are areas of fibrous tissue (fibrosis) that replaces normal skin after injury. A scar results from the biological process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues of the body.

To prevent additional damage to the underlying tissue, the body starts to build collagen rather quickly to close the wound as soon as possible.

There are various scar types but the two most common forms of scars are hypertrophic- and Keloid scars.

Hypertrophic scars are red, thick and swollen, painful or itchy, but they are equal in size to the effected area.

Keloid scars are thick and irregular and extend outside the wound side. They often are red and darker than the persons skin color.

Keloid scars are all hypertrophic, but „only a small percentage of hypertrophic scars“ are keloid.The presence of these predominant scars could have a negative effect on persons self esteem, social life or functionality. More often they can cause an itchy, burning or pain sensation off the effected area. This could result-due to the intensity of scratching and rubbing the area- in an even more damaged surface due to skin lacerations and or small infections.

Although the scar itself can not always be treated effectively, the side effects can be treated well with various treatments.
