So far there is no statutory definition of the widely spread concept of "professional hair regrowth reduction”.We define the professional hair regrowth reduction as the sustainable change in hair growth over time with alonger-lasting hair-free skin and reduced hair regrowth with less hairs. Professional hair regrowth reductionis achieved by means of a professional/permanent epilation procedure, which changes and/or reduces thebasis for growth of the hair follicle in its anagen growth phase over time. Due to the natural hair growthcycles, the regular use of the professional/permanent epilation procedure over time is required, in order toinfluence the existing, regrowing and new hairs in their anagen growth phase accordingly. The impact orlong-term effect of such permanent epilation procedure ultimately depends on the different genetic predispo-sition and the hormones of the individual person. Therefore, certain statements about the number of neces-sary treatments or about the period of time during which the hair in the treated area is reduced or removed,cannot be generalized.

Due to the natural hair regrowth cycle it is biologically seen not possible to achieve a 100-percent hair freeskin/treatment. Experience shows that over time usually completely new hairs will grow (e.g. from so calleddormant follicles), eventually requiring additional post treatments with the professional/permanent epilationprocedure. It is thereby understood, that a professional hair regrowth reduction cannot guaranty a specificresult of hair free skin – escpecially in the way, that a treated area will be permanently completey free ofhairs or that hairs will never grow back!

Successive and regular EpilaDerm® -Treatments are imperative over a period of 12 to 24 months to possibly treatmost of all targeted hair through a complete 1-2 year hair growth cycle.

The required number of treatments depend on the preferences of each individual, regarding when the remaininghair regrowth is acceptable or not.

!Tip: Before beginning the EpilaDerm® treatments it is of great importance to tho-roughly inform each customer about the procedure of treatment, the possibilities andlimitations of hair growth reduction with EpilaDerm®. In order to produce a qualifiedfirst result we recommend committing with the customer to do at least 6 treatments.

Additional post treatments with considerably longer intervals between treatments ranging from 8 weeks to 12weeks or even longer are usually/eventually necessary.

Due to the natural hair regrowth cycle and the fact that the impact or long-term effect of a “permanent epilationprocedure” ultimately depends on the different genetic predisposition and the hormones of the individual person,it is biologically seen not possible to achieve a 100-percent hair free skin/treatment. Therefore, certain statementsabout the number of necessary treatments or about the period of time during which the hair in the treated area isreduced or removed, cannot be generalized.

Not all hair follicles in the skin are active at the same time, and some hair follicles are programmed to be activatedfor the first time in the following months or years after the EpilaDerm® treatments (so called sleeping / dormantfollicles).

Also hair growth can be influenced and induced by hormones, for instance due to pregnancy, age or use of medication, by stress as well as changes in climate and even after a surgery, and can have an impact on the long term effect of the hair regrowth reduction through regeneration of remaining basal cells.

The trained EpilaDerm®-Beautician evaluates at the beginning of treatments and subsequently during the first 6 and eventually 12 treatments the progress in the hair regrowth reduction and determines on an ongoing basisthe proper course of action; such as e.g. shortening or prolonging of the intervals between treatments.

Our Tip: In order to assure best possible access for the enzymes to the basal cells in the anagen phase – it is highly recommended to adopt the following methods for root deep hair removal = epilation:

Epilation with the EpilaDerm®-Profi-Sugarpastes as your preferred professional epilation method! When used correctly, this way the highest possible amount of treatable hair follicles are indeed free of hairs.

Alternatively epilation with a water soluble sugar wax (usually in combination with strips). This is typically more gentle to skin than oil-based wax and eases cleaning of skin before applying the enzymes.

5.1 Sugaring – different methods in comparison!

The common term “Sugaring” describes the gentle and root-deep epilation/removal of hairs using a naturalbased paste-substance consisting of sugar and water (sugar paste).

There are different professional sugaring-techniques* with different requirements to the users know-how aswell as different precision in the epilation and quality of the hair removal results:

Strip-MethodThe epilation/depilation is here done with the classicstrip-technique and still primarily against the hairsgrowth direction!

This method is suitable as an alternative to classicwaxing and/or as an intermediate solution on the wayto acquiring know-how in using the manual methodwithout strips (e.g. expert-sugaring).

Standard-Method (cooked,brown sugar pastes)The epilation is here done manually, usually in thehairs growth direction and typically using moresimple-to-use sugaring-handtechniques, which aremainly suitable for sugar pastes with higher innerviscosities.

Due to the applicable sugar pastes high inner resistance/friction, this method can often lead toreduced comfort for the customer as the pastesusually require relatively high pressure, whenapplied onto the skin.

At the same time this method of application increases the risk of hair breakage by the epilation.

This method can not be used with low-viscositysugar pastes such as e.g. EpilaDerm®. When suchpastes are used with the standard-technique, theytend to get stuck to the skin and lead to increasedblood circulation of the skin surface as well as skinirritations.

Expert-Sugaring (EpilaDerm®) The epilation is here done with the special Expert-Fingertip-Technique exclusively in the hairs growthdirection thereby using very soft and more fluid sugar paste consistencies with very low inner viscosity!

In accordance with the EpilaDerm®-Philosophy this assures that the sugar paste by itself – and withoutusing any pressure – sinks deep into the hair follicle opening thereby adhering to the hair relatively deepinside the follicle.

These special properties enables in most cases and by all types of hair an effective and root-deep epilation with reduced sensation of pain for the customer as well as a minimum of hairs braking offinside the hair follicle! Expert-sugaring is widely usable and assures a very precise epilation, rangingfrom single hairs (e.g. eye brows) to fast and thorough epilation of larger areas (e.g. lower legs)!

Expert-sugaring with the EpilaDerm®-Profi-Sugarpastes is therefore by many considered to be the ultimate Expert-Solution in sugaring providing a perfect, root-deep and gentle epilation! Expert-sugaring therefore also provides the optimum amount of hair-free follicles and best skin condition for the post-epilation hair regrowth reduction with the EpilaDerm®-EnzymeComplex!

5.2 The unique properties of the EpilaDerm®-Profi-Sugarpastes:

The sugar pastes are available in different consistenciesThe different consistencies offers a full range of sugar pastes with different inner viscosities and fluid characteristics.Contemporary Expert-Sugaring with EpilaDerm® is therefore applicable to all types of skin- and hair conditions, facial-& body regions, room- and body temperatures*.

The sugar paste is used by normal skin temperature (30 bis 35 °C)Sugar paste therefore does not burn the skin and causes no astringent effect (through heat-shock) on the hair follicle,which otherwise would have a negative impact on the efficiency of the epilation. Sugar paste thus also prevents heatinduced redness and increased blood circulation of the skin surface making it suitable in most cases also for proble-matic skin.

The sugar paste is water solubleThe paste is therefore very easy to clean of skin and clothing using only water. It also remains moist and flexible longer making it possible to use it on larger body parts, since it does not dry up and can easily be removed at anytime from the skin.

The sugar paste is very gentle to skin and is able to improve skin conditionThe sugar paste is able to remove dead and dry skin cells similar to asoft skin peeling usually leading to an improvement of the skin condition.As the paste only adheres to the hair itself and not to the healthy skin,the sensation of pain by the epilation is also typically reduced.

In addition it is possible to work with the paste at the same skin areaseveral times without stressing the skin surface to much, which makesthe sugar paste very suitable for epilation of very sensible skin areas;such as the intimate area (by qualified Expert-Sugaring)!

This special property enables the rootdeep epilation of very short hairs as well as the epilation of the hairs intheir natural direction of growth.

In most cases this leads to an effective and root-deep epilation withreduced sensation of pain for the customer as well as a minimum ofhairs braking off inside the hair follicle!

5. EpilaDerm®-Profi-Sugarpastes

As the hair is here removed in its natural direction of hair growth, the tendency of hair braking off inside the hair follicle is considerably reduced. This usually reduces the tendency of ingrown hairs as well.

Due to its special consistency the sugar paste sinks deep into the hair follicle thereby adhering also on very short hairs*.

5.3 The EpilaDerm®-Profi-Sugarpastes for manualusage is available in 4 consistencies

The various consistencies of the EpilaDerm®-Sugarpastes (Strong, Soft, Expert and Mix) with different degree of viscosity allows for the individual adjustment of the optimum consistency of the paste according to the specific skin- and hair conditions, body region, room- and body temperatures.

It is always the goal to work with an optimum consistency (not to hard and not to soft), which means the application of the paste onto the skin is pleasant for the customer as well as easily done without using any pressure on the skin and hairs. In addition this enables the sugar paste by itself to sink deep enough into the hair follicle to enable a thorough root-deep removal of the hairs.

Determining and adjusting the optimum consistency is a matter of experience and practice. For this purpose the Profi Mix is primarily used to make either the Profi Strong or Profi Soft sugar paste thinner respectively more fluid.The experienced user can hereby quickly, gently and thoroughly remove hairs on all body- and facial parts.

Preheating the EpilaDerm®-Sugarpastes:By preheating the sugar pastes to skin temperature of 30°C to max. 35°C the pasteobtains its preferred working temperature and is easier to take out of the canisterand to work with. This also supports the sugar paste in sinking deeper into the hairfollicle and increases the comfort for the customer. Exception is the Profi Mix, whichneeds no preheating.

Profi Soft is the middle consistency of the EpilaDerm®-Sugarpastes:It is used by normal room temperatures, by larger body areas and is (pure) also suitablefor beginners. When mixed with the Profi Mix the Profi Soft should be the preferredpaste to work with (usually after completing Level 4 of the EpilaDerm®-Careerpath)!

Profi Strong is the hardest consistency of the EpilaDerm®-Sugarpastes:It is suitable for beginners or to increase thickness of a thinner sugar paste. It isalso used by very high room temperatures and in cases of higher degree of tran-spiration (moist and sweat) on the skin area being epilated.

Profi Mix is a Sugarfluid:It is only used to mix with the other sugar pastes to decrease thickness/makethem thinner and or to enhance adhesiveness!

Profi-EXPERT is the thinnest consistency of theEpilaDerm®-Sugarpastes:Our specialty for Experts was developed with a special fluid viscosity designed for the manual fast-sugaring-technique at a higher speed and for epilation of very short hairs.

EpilaDerm®-HomeCare Enzyme-PeelingFor reduction of ingrown hairs and smoothing of skin!Between the hair removal treatments, the skin should be peeled 1 to 2 times per week. As the EpilaDerm®-Enzyme-Peelingdoes not induce any scrubbing or mechanical abrasion of the skin surface, it is very gentle in use and therefore also suitab-le for depilated/epilated as well as sensible skin. The peeling not only leads to a softer skin, it also leaves the surface of thehair follicles free of residues from dead skin cells.
