Faith to Move Mountains is a $75 million Diocesan-wide endowment campaign that will secure the resources need-ed to enable our Church to flourish for generations to come. Unlike the Annual Catholic Appeal, which address-es the day-to-day operating expenses of the Diocese, this campaign will establish endowments to respond to critical long-term needs and serve as a permanent and self-sustaining source of financial stability for the Diocese. Once established, the funds will continue to grow through the reinvestment of interest and earnings, as well as addi-tional gifts. Through this, the endowments will provide support for the following needs in perpetuity:

♦ Our Parishes: $30 million ♦ Ordained Ministry: $20 million ♦ Catholic Schools: $15 million ♦ Social Services: $5 million ♦ Catechesis and evangelization: $5 million In addition, 30% of the campaign funds that we raise toward our parish goal will be directed back to our parish for our local parish needs. We will use our share of funds for various projects including upgrade of the Lower Church, parking lot repairs, repairs of the mosaic and stained glass windows in the Upper Church, defibrillator equipment, restroom renovations, I/T and security equip-ment purchases, and other uses.

In the coming weeks, we will share further details about the campaign with all of you. It is our hope that the entire community will join together and participate in this ex-traordinary effort for our parish. Thank you for your con-tinued prayers and support.

MARCH FOR LIFE – 2017

The annual March For Life – to pray and march for an end to abortion – will be on Friday, January 27, 2017 in Washington, DC, the 44th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Roe vs. Wade. Our friends at St. Jerome’s Church have welcomed us to join them on their chartered bus for the round-trip to Wash-ington. The plan for the day is:

Mass at St. Jerome’s Church at 6:00 a.m. Depart St. Jerome’s parking lot at 6:30 a.m.

Return to St. Jerome’s parking lot at appx. 9:30 p.m. Please take this opportunity to express your pro-life position and join in the largest annual pro-life rally in the world. Where else do over a half million people join together in peaceful protest without incident for over four decades? This peaceful demonstration is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time: abortion. Defunding the abortion industry, de-funding embryonic

stem cell research, and voting down “right to die” and “death with dignity” euthanasia legislation are all current hot button topics you can weigh in on. The Rally this year will take place at the Washington Monument. After the Rally, the March will then pro-ceed up Constitution Avenue and end at the Supreme Court before returning to the bus for the ride back to St. Jerome’s.

We hope that you can join us! Round-trip transportation is still only a $10 donation which may be paid with a check payable to St. Jerome’s Church. Bus passengers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. To sign-up or for further information, please call Jack Brignola at (h)732-222-3164 or (c)908-433-4447. Please participate if you can!

PASTORAL CARE STEPHEN & PADUAN MINISTRIES

Our Extraordinary Ministers made 13 Communion/shut-in visits and 1 Stephen Ministry visits during this past week. We pray that we have helped to bring God’s love and peace to His people in need. Grace “God’s grace is a light that we must not snuff out. We must cooperate with it. This is especially true of those inspirations that lead us to make acts of virtue on some occasion. Such cooperation in grace is sometimes the very essence of our happiness.” St. Claude de la Colombiere

Our Lord’s grace is always with us. His grace is in us and will never leave us! Let us always remember to thank Our Lord Jesus Christ for the countess graces He has poured in us from our birth. Our Extraordinary Ministers are available for our parishioners to visit the sick, the elderly, and to bring Communion. Please contact us if you need us at 732-483-0360 ext. 120.

We hope our parishioners, their families and friends, and the many visitors to Saint Michael's had a holy, happy and joy-filled Christmas. We are grateful and thankful for all who came to our church to attend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses. We trust every-one embraced the spirituality and splendor of Saint Michael's and the beautiful Christmas decorations that enveloped our church. I would also like to take this opportunity to extend a special note of gratitude, thanks, and appreciation for all those who made our Christmas at Saint Michael's a beautiful, prayerful, and holy place of worship. A heartfelt and grateful note of thanks to our visiting priests, parish staff, youth and adult altar servers, extraordinary min-isters, lectors, musicians, ushers, suppliers, and all the volun-

teers who worked so tirelessly and faithfully to help make Saint Michael's a beautiful and welcoming house of prayer, praise, and worship during the joyful season of Christmas. Christmas spirit is the Holy Spirit that radiates peace, joy

and love in our hearts and our wish is that all experience that spirit not only at Christ-mastime but throughout the New Year. May the special blessings of Christmas always be yours and may the coming year be filled with good health, prayer, peace and happiness for you and yours.

Rev. John K. Butler, Pastor p.s.: And thank you, too, for all the many generous and kind Christmas gifts that were delivered to the rectory: cards, letters, cookies, pies, wine, oranges from Florida, etc., etc., etc.

PATHWAY TO HEAL Divorced, Widowed, and Separated Group

“FINDING BALANCE” “GOOD THINGS COMING”

During this wonderful season there is always the opportunity for the blues to arrive. Try and find the middle ground. Change it up. Make new traditions. Do something different, something new. Go to Mass. Please be kind and gentle to yourself.

“Christmas is joy, religious joy, an inner joy of light and peace.” -Pope Francis

“Christmas is the perfect time to celebrate the love of God and family and to create memories that will last forever. Jesus is God's perfect, indescribable gift. The amazing thing is that not only are we able to receive this gift, but we are able to share it with others on Christmas and every other day of the year.” -Joel Osteen

St. Michael's has formed a group for those that need support with life's new paths and journeys. The PATHWAY TO HEAL Group is a ministry for separated, divorced and widowed persons. You are invited to meet twice a month. We seek to assist individuals to live a more fulfilled Christian life.

Our group is here to help those who may be new to the emotional stresses of separation and loss in your world. If you need a place to come and feel safe please plan on attending our group.

Youth Group The Mission of the Y.G is rooted in the Catholic Church; it is committed to assisting with the development of our young peo-ple. We strive to foster an insightful and meaningful environ-ment where our members can express their feelings openly and learn from their peers. Our service projects and discussion meetings contribute to the spiritual growth of our Youth and help create a better understanding of society as a whole. Our ongoing campaign called “kids helping kids” continues to help local and national organizations in need. Some projects include: Eagles Up!, which is to help the troops overseas, Ronald McDon-ald House, Project Beach Sweep, Habitat for Humanity and C.O.A.R. This is a program where we collect loose change to sponsor a child in El Salvador . We help provide her with clothing, shelter and an education! Heifer International is a project that is also close to our hearts. The mission of this charity is to work with communities

to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. This pro-gram has helped more than 12 million families in more than 125 countries to move toward greater self-reliance through the gift of livestock. The impact of each initial gift is multiplied as recipients agree to “Pass on the gift” by giving one of there offspring to another family in need. One of the most important lessons learned in the Youth Group is helping others and here we continue to prove it. Our group meets monthly to discuss a selected topic; together we address the issues facing their generation. It helps them a great deal to talk about things from the Catholic perspec-tive. Our Children are the future of this parish. It is crucial that we guide them and provide the necessary tools for them to be the best and most successful they can be. The young men and women of this group are truly amazing and act out God’s will each and every day!
