Fort Rinella Museum Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna

Fort  Rinella  is  a  fort  built  during  the  Victorian  age.  Located  in  Malta  near  Kalkara  it’s  one  of  the  four  war  museums.  Since  1991  Fondazzjoni  Wirt  Artna  -‐  Malta  Heritage  Trust  has  restored  the  fort  for  the  tourists.  The  foundaEon  is  a  voluntary  non-‐governmental  organizaEon  acEve  in  the  field  of  heritage  preservaEon.

One  of  its  principal  objecEves  is  to  create  awareness  to  encourage  the  beMer  understanding  and  preservaEon  of  the  cultural  heritage  of  the  Maltese  islands.  For  this  reason,  over  the  years,  Fondazzjoni  Wirt  Artna  has  undertaken  the  rehabilitaEon  and  restoraEon  of  various  cultural  properEes.    Most  of  the  cultural  properEes  which  FWA  holds  in  trust,  are  made  accessible  to  the  public.

In  line  with  its  objecEves,  FWA  seeks  to  provide  the  visiEng  public  with  the  highest  form  of  interpretaEon  that  will  enable  a  beMer  understanding  and  appreciaEon  of  our  cultural  heritage.  For  this  reason  FWA  also  undertakes  to  build  and  maintain  cultural  collecEons  with  which  to  establish  museums.

Fort Rinella’s Organization

For  one  month  I  worked  in  Rinella  with  an  incredible  person.  My  tutor  was  Claudia,  an  Italian  woman    who  decided  to  go  to  Malta  to  improve  her  English.    My  tasks  in  Rinella  were:  welcoming  people,  giving  informaEon  about  the  history  of  the  fort,  helping  with  the  donaEons  and  organizaEon  of  the  gia  shop.

I  was  an  assistant  with  another  girl.

My Challenges and My Outcomes

When  I  lea  to  Malta,  I  was  scared  about  the  traineeship  and  the  host  family.  While  the  Eme  passed  ,  my  host  family  and  my  tutor  helped  me  to  fight  my  fears.    In  one  month  I  improved  my  English  and  my  abtude  with  people.  Thanks  to  this  traineeship  I  undestood  that  its  very  difficult  to  have  contact  with  tourists  if  you  are  a  shy  girl.

Advice  and  Host  Family

My  advice  for  people  who  do  a  traineeship  is  that  you  mustn’t  be  scared  about  the  traineeship  because  it  can  be  easy  if  you  believe  in  yourself.  You  will  have  fun  and  you  can  meet  new  people  from  different  places  in  the  word.  I  had  a  lot  of  luck  because  I  think  that  I  met  the  best  family  in  Malta.  They  were  incredible,  sweet  and  with  lots  of  happiness.  They  learned  to  love  me  as  a  daughter.  They  are  my  second  family.
