Maitland Touch Gala Day

Last Thursday we had four teams participate in a Touch Gala Day at Maitland Park. The aim of this day was participation and fun and that is exactly what our students achieved. All teams had 5 games each on a busy but enjoyable day. The weather provided us with lots of sun and a pleasant breeze that spring can deliver. Both Junior and Senior teams competed well and in the spirit of the game. I would love to see some or all of these students look locally to participate in an out-of-school competition as they would benefit further from this sport. Parents can contact Maitland Touch or Beresfield Touch to make more enquiries. I would like to thank all parents who assisted with transport on the day and a special mention to Kim Ireland and Kristy Webb who assisted both Mr Gab and I with our senior and junior teams. Thank you to everyone who made the day a memorable one and I am already looking forward to next year. Mr Edwards and Mr Gabrielides

Infants Athletics Carnival

On the 28th September (Friday Week 10) students in K-2 will be participating in an Infants Athletics Carnival. Students are encourage to wear running shoes and either their sports uniform or their house colours on the

day. The carnival will begin at approximately 11.30 and will run until 1.30. Parents are encouraged to attend this event as spectators. Students must bring their school hat and a drink bottle on the day. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Riverlights Multicultural Festival

Riverlights Multicultural Festival is back for a second time this year on 13 October 2018. Riverlights is a diverse and colourful celebration of culture through interactive stalls, dance, food, music and arts. This event really shines at night, with the popular festival parade and magical lantern flotilla featured on the Hunter River, an unforgettable experience. Entry to the festival is free.

To celebrate and support the Riverlights Multicultural Festival, 2L have been making lanterns for the Lantern Making Competition. Harley’s lantern was chosen by staff to represent the school. By entering, we hope to win $1,000 for the school to support our community programs.

We are aiming to win again!

Fia Lyle—Class Teacher

Last Minute Messages

If you have a message that you were unable to give to your child before they left for school, can you please call before 1.30pm. Schools are hectic after lunch and we will try and pass your message before 3pm but the earlier the better.

School Gates

We have six different entry points for you to walk into school. Two on Lawson Ave, one on Anderson Drive, one on Hawthorn St, and two on Boomerang St. Plenty to choose from! All these gates, except our main gate on Lawson Ave, are locked between 9.30am and 2:30pm during the school day for the safety of our students. On special occasions we will unlock the gates for ease of access for visitors.

Please do not walk through the vehicular gates on Boomerang Street. This is for vehicles dropping off our special needs students only. Same goes for the staff car park gates. Thanks for your co-operation.
