On re-delivery of the chair we shall provide the same great service that we do on our brand new chairs with setup and training to ensure the user gets the most from their chair.

Access to WorkAccess to Work (ATW) is a government scheme which can help you if your health or disability affects the way you do your job or the ability to work at all. ATW offer advice and might pay towards equipment you need at work, adapting premises to meet your needs, or a support worker. Disabled Student AllowanceThe Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is a government grant for disabled UK students enrolled on full-time higher education courses, that can cover costs if you require specialist equipment to be able to complete your studies and course.We assess students for any equipment needed and then provide a quote. We personally deliver and setup all chairs and desks whilst also training the end user on how to get the most from their equipment.

We also leave the end user with a sitting tips booklet which advises on how we have set them up and why – this ensures they can re-set themselves up should they ever need to. It also helps with educating on the importance of sitting in the correct posture which can help considerably in alleviating discomfort.

Our Assessment Options for YouTo ensure you or your employees have the correct equipment to prevent and relieve ergonomic problems and maximise productivity, we provide a range of assessments across the UK. We can identify specific products required during a workstation assessment, or conduct more in-depth assessments to identify particular problems and find a solution for you.

How to Choose & Use the Right Chair

PostureYour hips should be slightly higher than your knees. This rotates the pelvis so the spine is in its natural ‘S’ shape. You should also keep your head over your shoulders and in line with your pelvis.

Keep MobileTry to encourage movement by making use of your chair's ad-justments using the float and back tilt. This change of position will help reduce fatigue by increasing blood flow.

Lumbar SupportAdjust the height of the backrest so that the lumbar support of the chair supports the curve of your spine. Gradually inflate the lumbar support over a few days as your body needs time to get used to the new back shape

It is important to feel fully supported when sitting for any period of time. Having a chair which meets the size and needs of your body is imperitive.

Arm & Desk HeightWith your shoulders relaxed and your forearms parallel to the floor the middle row of keys on your keyboard should be level with your elbow. The rear of your forearms should be supported by the arms of your chair.

Seat HeightYou should have your feet on the floor or footrest with your hip slightly higher than your knee.

Seat DepthWith your buttocks sat right back into the chair you should have a gap of approximately 5cm behind the knee. A seat that is too deep can impede blood flow to the lower leg.

The BackrestThe specially contoured backrests provide fantastic support between the shoulder blades, upper and lower back. Various back sizes are available on all ranges to suit most individual requirements. Sewn edges are standard on the 20 range to provide even greater comfort and avail-able as an option on the other ranges.

The Lumbar SupportPromotes the natural position of the spine and provides support for the lower back. Inflatable lumbar support is fitted as standard on all models, with the popular Schukkra lumbar support offered as an option.

The SeatVarious seat depths and widths are avail-able on all ranges to fit users of different sizes. Sewn edges are standard on the 20 range to provide fantastic sitting comfort and available as an option on the other ranges. The memory foam option pro-vides even greater comfort.

Seat Height & DepthBoth height and depth of the seat can be adjusted quickly and simply by controls accessible from the seated position. The correct seat depth and height improves blood flow in the legs.

Opera 20The Opera 20’s are the highest specification chairs with a smooth knee tilt rocking ac-tion. The chair instantly follows your body’s movements providing a natural feel when rocking. With a range of seat and back sizes, optional extras and our custom-fit service, we can tailor-make the chairs for any requirement and individual. The Opera 20 chairs have a sewn edge seat and back for maximum comfort and a polished aluminium star base for an executive look.

The Mechanism The pivot at the front of the seat offers the greatest rocking action on any of the Opera ranges - with a natural, smooth feel ensuring feet remain in constant contact with the floor whilst providing support to the underside of the thighs. The back angle remains constant when the seat tilts, ensuring that the lumbar support stays in place. The tilt mechanism can be left in free float or locked in any position.

Opera 30The Opera 30’s are the mid-range of Opera chairs with a supportive semi-knee tilt rock-ing action which follows your body’s movements. The mechanism has clear text lever controls for ease of identification. With a range of seat and back sizes, optional extras and our custom-fit service, we can tailor make the chairs for any requirement.

The Mechanism The semi knee tilt pivots midway between the stem and the front of the seat, allowing the chair move-ment to follow and support your body when the rocking action is utilised. The tilt mechanism can be left in free float or locked in any position.

Opera 60

The Mechanism The central pivot multi-tilt mechanism allows the seat to be angled and positioned as required for each user. The seat tilt must be locked in place, meaning there is no free float rocking action available.

The Opera 60’s are the entry-level range of Opera chairs which offer great value for money. With a generous range of standard features and optional seat and back rest sizes, the Opera 60’s are an ideal solution for contract or low-budget ergonomic re-quirements

Our OpinionThe RH Logic 400 & 300 chairs are an evolution of the successful RH Logic 4 and 3. Their design is inspired by 2 joints; the knee and the hip. You will notice the effect as soon as you sit down. This is called the Two Point Principle (2PP). See below for illustration showing how this principle works.

Opera 60-H

The Mechanism The central pivot multi-tilt mechanism allows the seat to be angled and positioned as required for each user. The seat tilt must be locked in place, meaning there is no free float rocking action available.

The Conset 501-27 and 501-29 have a light appearance but the construction is strong and solid with a 125kg lifting capacity. Both frames have an anti-squeeze protection system. If there is an obstruction whilst descending, the desk top will stop automatically when the pressure equals the combined weight of the desk top and items on it. The Conset 501-27 has the lowest height range available making it ideal for children and petite adults. The Conset 501-29 has the highest height range making it ideal for the taller user.

The Conset 501-27 desks have a shorter frame, allowing for desk tops of 60cm depths as well as 80cm.

When sitting in the chair you should ensure that all equipment you commonly use is placed within easy reach. Over stretching for items will cause strain especially on the neck and lower back. If space is a premium consider placing equipment on stands or arms. You should position the telephone close to the hand that you answer the phone with. Consider the use of a headset if you spend a lot of time on the phone.

Ensure the keyboard is close to your body, but leave a gap between the edge of the desk and the keyboard. Place the mouse close to the side of the keyboard. Placing the mouse and keyboard too far away from your body will promote poor posture.

Copyholders reduce the strain on the neck by promoting an upright viewing angle when referencing paperwork.

Touch typists should position the copyholder next to and at the same height as the monitor screen - consider using a Fellowes side mounting copyholder which attaches to your screen.

For non-touch typists, a copyholder positioned between the keyboard and monitor (as pictured) is ideal, such as the U Slope Pro. Many inline copyholders now combine a writing slope for a 2-in-1 solution.

Using a laptop flat on your desk will encourage a poor pos-ture. Instead, use a laptop stand to raise the screen height and encourage an upright viewing position to reduce strain. Use a separate keyboard and mouse to enable the correct viewing distance from your screen (see position of monitor).

Position the monitor so that the top of the visible screen is at eye level and at arms length away. Users who are not touch typists and need to view the keyboard as they type may want to lower the screen slightly to avoid head dipping.

The size of a tablet causes many postural problems due to the close hand-held proximity required with their use.Instead of holding the tablet which creates a hunched posture and causes strain on the eyes, consider the use of a tablet arm for an upright and comfortable viewing position.

Ensure your keyboard is close to your body but leave a gap be-tween the edge of the desk and the keyboard. Place your mouse close to the side of the keyboard to avoid over stretching.

If you do not use the number pad on your keyboard, consider a mini which will allow you to bring your mouse in closer to you - reducing muscle tension. If you use the number pad consider a separate number pad and position this on the opposite side to your mouse.

A writing slope allows you to raise paperwork which reduces the viewing distance. This helps you to maintain an upright balanced posture which will limit your body from leaning forwards. This will reduce strain on your lower back, neck and eyes.

If writing is difficult, consider using an ergonomic pen (page 71).
