(If you live in our area,we have a class for this type quilt this session.)The other winner was MarleneMoore, Mishawaka, who made a beautiful appliqued witch wallhanging for her sis-

    oftheMonth

In November we had to cancel our evening meeting because of that darned win-

ter weather that afflicts us here in Michiana! But things were stable by morning, and

we had our morning meeting. Judy Felty was Sew-er of the Month with a quilt for

her granddaughter. Sydney helped her pick out colors of fabric, most of which ended

    up being pink!

Runner-up was Vicki Gibson from Goshen with her Hot Chocolate wallhang-

ing. Admittedly it was a UFO for a few years, but obviously worth finishing up! Vicki

also had a satin Christening dress that was a beautiful heirloom.

    Beethoven, 20 1/2, was a constant,loving companion...

If you have photos of your Crafter Kitty that youdlike to share,

please email them to [email protected]

Sadly, we lost three belovedfeline companions in the lastquarter of 2011, bringing to anend, the original family we had

built over twenty plus years. We have the wonderful memo-ries of all of them, and havebegun filling the holes left inour hearts with our new boys,Bernstein and Puccini. This is

    Bernie

, and hes goingto be the quilting assistant.

From the beginning, he was on every piece of fabric he saw. Here he washelping me put the accent fabric on the Giant Pandawallhanging I was work-

ing on. (you can read more about the pattern in an upcoming blog post and inthis newsletter, in the New and Noteworthy Books and Patterns section.

    Tchaikovsky, 17 1/2, was always

    Mommas baby...

Kassia, 8 1/2, lost tragically from a blood clot, a fewdays before Christmas, came to our home becauseshe looked like Beethoven, the only two smoke coloredkitties wed ever seen. Early on, we had to see theireyes to be sure which one we were looking at.

We loved them all so much and their memories are

blessings to us.See more Crafter's Kitties here.

Animals rule in the Meadors home in

Bridgeman, Michigan. Cheryl sent me so

many great photos, I had trouble narrowing

them down, but sure enjoyed them.

You can see theyre all quilt lovers, and it

doesnt even matter to Oreo if the quilt is in

a hoop with Cheryls daughter Lilee trying to

quilt, or on Cheryls Fusion frame! You sure have

to love these guys to put up with so much help!

(As all of us animal lovers do, of course.)

    Although these gals started

    out in South Bend, after

    they were rescued and

    found Lori Thompson,

    she took them back home

    to Kirkland, IN. She tells

    us, Lucy likes to sleep

    on the projects in the

    works, but Emmie is an

    active participant in the quilting

process. So much so that I have to

keep moving her off of the quilts while

Im working on them because they are

hard to push around with her little

    princess self on them :)

They obviously know theyve got it

    good!

When Jenny sent methe photo of A Placein the Sun, I loved it

immediately! I cansee it in purple andyellow, but I know

blue and yellow are a really popular combi-nation. It isnt due in the states until nextmonth, but were taking pre-orders. Thislatest book by Jenny Haskins features thequilt, step-by-step directions and photosalong with all the embroidery and quiltingdesigns to make it. All the embroidery andquilting are done in a 200mm x 200mm

hoop including: blocks, sashing, scallopedborders and cornerstones, all of whichincorporate built-in stitch cutting lines, pieced with the Jenny Join for perfectly flatseams. A14864 (59.99)

In the meantime, Jenny and Simon havebeen busy compiling special editions. These are wonderful collections with thedesigns and instructions for the projectshown on the cover, and sometimes some

bonus ideas as well.Fiesta is a quilt made anddesigned by Simon. Itreflects Simon's love ofvibrant colors and exquisitefabrics inspired by his manytrips to Mexico. This festivequilt is made of luscious silkin keeping with Simon's love of workingwith this luxurious fabric but can be just asbeautiful in cottons. 50560 (49.99)

    I Need a Little Christmas

is a romantic AdventCalendar (for next year!)that incorporates Jenny'sMagic Quilting in the hoop(with cutting lines so nomeasuring is required),Jenny Join (for perfectly flat

Decoupage technique! You cannot getmuch easier than this. 50561 (49.99)

    Simon designed the Quilt-

Thereare just four steps: Hoop and stitch allthree layers, cut on the built-in stitch cut-ting line: piece with the easy Jenny Join, and bind your finished quilt. Almost auto-matic! 50575 (49.99)

Simon designed andpieced the striped blocksfor this quilt with anothercollection in mind andJenny and Robbie addedthese beautiful red floraldesigns and put them onSimon's pieced fabric.

    What a beautiful outcome! (However,

there was quite a discussion before it wasfinished - thus the name War Of TheRoses). A15427 (49.99)

    Renaissance is a very

easy quilt to make with the

    blocks being straight for-

    ward to embroider and the

    piecing simple. This quilt is

    dedicated to Robyn Wilson,

long-time friend, colleagueand co-worker of Jenny and Simon in the

    studio. A15432 (39.99)

    Peaches & Green is not

    only a beautiful quilt but

    also a teaching quilt with

    Jenny sharing some of her

    techniques. This quilt was

    one of the inspirations for

    her Heritage quilt and

    book. You will learn her

Embroidered Decoupage technique to cre-ate free standing embroideries and The

    Jenny Join quilt-as-you-go with decorative

satin stitches to piece the quilt sections

together. A great quilt for the beginner

    through advanced. A15431 (39.99)

    Jenny got inspiration from a

    number of sources for the

    Creative Fantasy CD. Its

    a summer quilt, evoking the

lovely scent of lavenderperfume, gentle breezes

and hazy days of calm and

    tranquility.

A Little French Chic is a

    stylish table runner by

    Jenny and her fellow artist,

    Robbie, and it reflects their

    love of working with silk

    fabric along with the color

    pink and all things romanti-

    cally chic. These designs

used on the table runner pictured are glori-

ously large applique designs made up of

    two interlocking designs. 50668 (49.99)

The I Feel Pretty table or

wall quilt is the perfect proj-

ect for the time when you

    want to learn new tech-

niques, play with tactileproducts and create an eye

    catching quilt to hang in

    your sewing studio to

remind yourself of how pretty you really

are, inside and out! 50648 (49.99)

At the Fall Quilt Market, I found a new

company with really unique designs! These

designs are digitized for use with Mylar. A

color change chart is included with each

collection with instructions about when toplace the Mylar on the design and when to

remove the excess. (This special fill is not

recommended to be resized.) Here are a

few of the ones we picked up, and we will

add more if you like them as much as we

    do:

    There are 16 Mylar

    Snowflakes, 15 for the

    4 x 4 hoop and , 1 for

the 5x7 hoop. Until yousee one sewn out, you

    cant imagine how

    beautiful it is. Id gladly

trade the real thing for these

    lovelies! A14996 (49.99)
