Manuel Lorenzo Hernández. Head of Technology & Innovation at Ericsson Spain
His unit performs IPR Management and Strategic Research integrated in Ericsson’s Corporate Technology function as well as Business Innovation projects performed in close coordination with the local Market Unit (Spain and Portugal) and in cooperation with national and European institutions and technology and business partners.
Manuel holds a B. Eng degree in Telecommunication by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid with specialization in Computer Networks. Since 1994 he has developed his professional career in Ericsson (Spain, Sweden, Ireland) in several technology and business fields including Telecom Management, Mobile Internet Infrastructure and Applications, Network Databases and Digital Identity among others. His profile combines a broad technical knowledge acquired in R&D (as Design Technical Coordinator, Master Systems Architect and Senior Specialist) with business orientation and skills developed in Market Unit assignments (Program Manager, Chief Solution Architect and Business Consultant).
Manuel is member of Ericsson-wide communities and initiatives including the Ericsson Global Innovation Forum. He also actively promotes the networking among companies as well as between the industry and academic worlds with the aim of exchanging, extending and applying knowledge and best practices in Management of Technology and Innovation.

David Rafols. Founder of Innoget’s Open Innovation Marketplace
David obtained his degree in Biological Sciences in the Universitat de Barcelona. He hold’s a Master in Bussiness Administration by Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and Universitat Politecnica de Barcelona, and a Master in Quality Management by the Institut Català de Tecnologia.
David has developed his professional career in Danone as a R&D engineer, in Chupa Chups as technical manager and in CIDEM (Generalitat de Catalunya) as a technology broker
In January 2008 founded Innoget, a virtual open innovation marketplace through which companies, research centres, scientists and technology based companies interact to develop and share ideas, patents, products and innovative technologies.

Mónica Gorricho Moreno, PhD. Manager of the Innovation Cell at Ericsson Spain
Dr Monica Gorricho Moreno obtained her Ph.D. Telecommunications Engineer degree in the Politechnic University of Catalonia in 1999, and a MBA from Escuela de Empresa in 2009. In 1999 she joined Amena (the Spanish third mobile operator) and there she developed her activity at the New Services Department, developing new mobile data services in the Innovation area, the Corporate area and the Financial Area, and as the Head of the Partner Program. Since April 2004 she belongs to the Innovation Center of Amena where she is the Research Manager and the Head of the Alliances Program. After the take over of Amena by France Telecom she is the Head of the Innovation Line about digital home, digital office, NFC, mobile digital signature, e-health and convergence.
In September 2008 she joined Ericsson, at the Technology & Innovation area in Madrid R&D Center, leading the team working on the definition and development of services and technologies based on IMS, e-Health and Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), Connected Car, Digital Home, Perceived Quality of Service (PQoS), and NSPS.
She has an extensive business, marketing, research, technical and project management skills on telecom services. Her current research interests are in IMS and Service Aware. She has published several papers on national and international congresses, and a book about mobile communications.

Miguel Angel Pallares. Manager of Research at Ericsson Spain
His unit performs Strategic Research integrated in Ericsson’s Corporate Technology function. The unit mandate consists in providing technology and system concepts to Ericsson business units, to which purpose the unit has built competence in: data mining and machine learning, identity and privacy management, data integration / adaptation, data management in cloud computing,.
MSc in Telecommunications at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, he joins Telefonica I+D in 1995, as a hardware development engineer of ATM access adapters, and later in the automation of the measurements of the quality of service of mobile value-added services. He joined Ericsson in 2000, representing Ericsson as a standards delegate in 3GPP CT4 (IMS interfaces), and OMA (web services), moving to a management position (within systems management) in 2005. In 2008, he joined EEM's T&I innovation unit.
He is a member of the Ericsson Research Software and Services Core Team, of the Ericsson User Management System Council and of Madrid R&D Innovation Management Board.

Julio López Roldán. Operational Development & Quality Officer, Ericsson Spain
Julio is Master engineer in Telecommunication by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
Julio has developed his professional career in Ericsson Spain since 1985, always belonging to the R&D center located in Madrid. After 3 years working in Hardware Design, he was part of the small group designing the first HLR as System Architect, becoming the System Unit Manager. Since 1998, Julio has developed different managerial positions within the Technology and Innovation unit in Madrid, covering the three keystones in the unit: Applied Research, Innovation and IPR management, being the Patent Support unit creator. Julio has been project manager for TECODIS project (AC064) in the 4th EU framework program, as well as responsible for Ericsson participation in collaboration and funded research projects. He has been responsible for University relationship, as well as Ericsson representative in several fora, like Telecom I+D or Foundation I+E, and Ericsson Representative in AETIC Innovation committee and vice-chairman for the eMOV Technology Platform.
Julio is currently Operational Development & Quality Officer for Packet Core R&D at Ericsson Spain
Miguel Cardo Rodríguez. Solution Manager at Ericsson Spain
Miguel obtained his M.S degree in Telecommunication Engineering in the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1999.
In 1999 he joined Ericsson at the Intelligent Networks Customization unit in Madrid R&D, where he worked as software engineer in different Service Network platforms and services for cellular and wireline networks. He also performed technical coordination and product management roles in Madrid and Stockholm.
Since 2006 he works as Solution Architect in the Multimedia Solutions unit, Market Unit Iberia, having presales and customer project delivery responsibilities. His area of expertise is Identity Management, designing and deploying solutions for mobile network operators, and also managing Ericsson's broker platform, providing multi-operator services for consumers. He currently works in a Data Management solution, and leads a pilot NFC (Near Field Communications) deployment in Spain.

Alejandro Bascuñana Muñoz, PhD. Senior Research Engineer at Ericsson Spain
Dr Alejandro Bascuñana Muñoz obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2006 and his Master's Degree in Computer Science in Alicante in 1996. in 1997 he joined Universidad Miguel Hernández (Elche) as responsible of systems within the central IT unit. Within this unit he was the main administrator of the corporative Databases, OSs and Hardware. He was also responsible of the security of the IT systems. In September 2000 he joined Ericsson and since them has been involved in several EU projects and research projects such are Mind, SHOPS, OPUCE, etc. Within the Technology & Innovation area he has been involved in creativity projects and programs. Along 2008 Alejandro managed research projects in the field of distributed high-performance database system. Currently Alejandro is researching on the business applicability and opportunities opened by the cloud computing paradigm. Alejandro’s main technical interests are next-generation databases, cloud computing and User Generated Service.

Borja Baturone. Managing Director, Altran IMD Spain
Borja is Managing Director of Altran IMD in Spain, the innovation services company of the Altran Group. He’s also managing the Spanish Agency for Innovation Certification (ACIE), Agency which officially certifies innovations from companies operating in Spain. He’s been managing R&D, Innovation and operational businesses for more than 15 years, specializing in launching new business, products and services.. Within the Innovation activities, Borja specializes on strategy projects, Culture change, acquisition of innovation capabilities and new product and services development He’s currently lecturing several courses and seminars to companies and institutions in Spain, Europe, EEUU and he’s Associated Professor for Innovation at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. Borja holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation at MIT-Sloan (USA), an Executive MBA at the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid), Honors Degree in Business Administration at Lincoln University, he has a Master’s degree in commercial management and marketing at the ESIC, and has studied Civil Engineering and Political Sciences (currently) at the UNED University (Spain) He’s an active member of the “Instituto de Consejeros Administradores” (IC-A), the organization in Spain which promotes and extends corporate governance standards and of the Innovation forum of the “Club de Excelencia en Gestión”, to generate and extend the best practices on innovation.

John Michael Walker, Patent examiner at European Patent Office
John Michael holds a M.Eng degree in Telecommunications by UPM (Politechnic University of Madrid). He was awarded a grant by IRESTE (Nantes University), France, where he completed his Master Thesis in 1997.Since 2008 he is Patent Examiner at the European Patent Office in The Haguen (Netherlands), within the Directorate of Telecommunications.Previously he worked in several leading companies in the telecommunications industry. From 1997 to 2000 he worked for Lucent Technologies in technical support activities. And from 2000 to 2008, he worked for Ericsson Spain R&D Center as Senior Systems Architect, carrying out research, architectural and strategic studies at both system and network levels, and contributing to several standardization bodies including 3GPP LTE as standardization delegate.Today more than ten inventions authored, or co-authored, by John Michael have already become granted patents in countries all over the world. He is married and has two children. He enjoys learning languages, playing tennis and cycling.
