WILSON LAUNCHES THEIRNEW RACKET TECHNOLOGY

Roger Federer and Co. Debut New Rackets for 2010

BLX is the new Wilson racket technology engineered with BASALT fi bers alsocombining proprietary frame, grommet and grip technologies for THE PERFECTFEEL.

Basalt is a natural volcanic rock that can be used in manufacturing and made into ultrafi ne gold fi bers. Basalt fi bers are woven longitudinally with Wilson exclusive [K]arophite Black to create the most advanced composite in the industry. Basalt addedto the matrix fi lters the unwanted extreme frequencies in the racket. BLX, the newWilson racquet technology delivers a cleaner feedback and better sensation. (BL)stands for basalt which is combined to 9 other variables and in total, 10 (X) elements are all connected together for the PERFECT FEEL.

The 15 time Grand Slam Champion, Roger Federer, will be leading the way withhis new Six.One Tour BLX racket starting in January 2010. Federer’s continuedsuccess is a result of Wilson’s ever evolving technology and BLX is no exception. “I know Wilson will always provide me with the best racket for my game with thelatest technology” Federer said recently after switching to his new BLX racket.“This change will provide me with the added feel and performance I want to further enhance my game in 2010 and beyond.”

Juan Martin Del Potro, the recent US Open winner and ranked #5 in the world, hasalready switched to a BLX and a new family of rackets. Del Potro can be seen onthe court with the Pro Tour BLX.

New ProductsAshaway Racket Strings has achieved another fi rst with the introduction of its new ZyMax® line of badminton strings. A new core construction technique called ZyWeaVe™ makes the fl agship product of the new line, ZyMax 62, the lightest badminton string ever made.

The unique ZyWeaVe core construction in ZyMax 62 prevents tension loss while its braided surface provides superior control. The result is exceptional playability and the crisp sound badminton players want to hear. ZyMax 62 maintains tension throughout its life and maximizes repulsion on smashes and drop shots.

Ashaway recommends 22 gauge ZyMax 62 be strung at 25 lbs tension for optimum durability and playability. At 25 lbs tension, ZyMax 62 has the same repulsion power as a .70 mm string strung at 30 lbs or more. ZyMax 62 is available in 10m sets and 200m reels.

New ProductsAshaway Introduces Zyex-based UltraKill® 17 Racquetball String-- Zyex® multifi lament core maximizes power and durability, maintains tension throughout string lifeAshaway has introduced UltraKill® 17, the fi rst of a new line of Zyex-based racquet-ball strings. Built on a new multifi lament core, UltraKill 17 is designed to provide amateur and professional players with a strong durable string with both exceptional power and ball control. The braided surface maximizes control and increases spin while the Zyex® multifi lament core prevents tension loss for more consistent perfor-mance throughout the life of the string.

According to Ashaway Vice President, Steve Crandall, recent advances in mate-rial technology have produced Zyex fi laments that are even fi ner and stronger than before. He said, "We've been experimenting with these in our R&D lab, developing ever thinner multifi lament core packages with increased linear density and more cross-sectional strength. As a result, we're now able to produce thinner, stronger, lighter-weight strings which provide superior feel, more power, and improved ball control, yet still offer the well known Zyex playing characteristics and tension holding properties."

Response from play-testers has been uniformly positive. Former World Champion and current #2 ranked IRT professional, Jack Huczek, said fl atly, "This is the best string I've ever used. From a power standpoint, and from a feel and control stand-

point, it's just top notch. The ball seems to really jump off the strings. I've noticed maybe 15% to 20% more power, and because the string has a rougher texture, it's great on the feel shots and the touch shots. You can really carve the ball into the corners and the ball really stays down nice."

UltraKill 17 is available for all players in 40 ft sets and 360 ft reels. Recommended stringing tension is up to 40 lbs. Ashaway suggests using 10–20% less tension than normally used for standard ny-lon strings.
